But I like the Hippopatamus for Christmas song!!

"I…
:rotfl: want a hippopatamus for Christmas;
A hippopatamus is all I want!
No crocodiles, or rhinoceruses,
I only like hippopatamuses!!

I want a hippopatamus for Christmas,…"

I’m :o sorry! I 😛 couldn’t resist!!!

I’ll throw up (pun intended) another vote for Santa Baby. Blech!!

I just love the Chipmunks song! I guess because it came out when I was a kid.

I’ve never heard Madonna sing “Santa Baby” but I have heard it by Eartha Kitt. I don’t care for it.

Now, we will have a poll of our favorite Christmas songs?

Me too! LOL. 😃

After what my ears were assaulted with yesterday at the mall, all of those sound rather soothing. :bigyikes: Nothing like rap singers and melodramatic drama queens (think Jessica Simpson and Mariah Carey) BUTCHERING the life out of Christmas classics at top volume while I’m trying to spend a early bird $15 free coupon. I suppose it’s my punishment for being a cheapskate. :rotfl:

To be completely honest, I love the John Lennon song.

I can see me now on Christmas morning coming down the stair, and oh what a surprise when I open up my eyes and see a happy hippo standing there…
I want a hippopatamus for Christmas…

And hippopatamuses like me toooooooo!

I like it myself…

Mother says a hippo would eat me up but then,
Teacher says a hippo is a vegetarian! 😃

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

Oh yeah, I voted for the first one. We have a local radio station that plays all Christmas, all the time, between Thanksgiving and New Years. They play that horrible song all the time! Good Grief!

There is no “other” choice…

I simply cannot stand “Santa Baby”, any version! :bigyikes:

The 1st choice on the poll is one of my favorites. 🙂

Definitely, without a doubt, unquestionably…Those dratted Barking Dogs!!!

BTW, did I mention that I DETEST the Barking Dogs?? 😃

But y’all better leave Grandma got run over by a reindeer alone. In our house, my Christmas season doesn’t begin until I’ve heard that. We had one year not that long ago that it didn’t happen until Christmas eve.

Ok, if Santa Baby gets a ‘write in’ vote this year, then when I put up this poll next year, then Santa Baby may make the seven choices.

I wonder if this is a supply and demand thing. Perhaps it all depends on which of these your local radio stations play ad nauseum. Around here, Paul McCartney’s song is played every 30 minutes for a whole month. I don’t think it is such a bad song for a few plays, but endlessly…

Why won’t they play the little drummer boy, like, ever?!

I’m surprised you didn’t include the Cheech & Chong Santa Claus skit. I LOVE that one, though! 😃

Cheech: No Man, Santa Claus isn’t a musician!
Chong: I’m hip! Man, that cat didn’t know any tunes. . .

:rotfl:

Everyone has added other selections, BUT the polls can only handle SEVEN choices.
Keep your write in votes comin in!

I love that skit too! How 'bout this one:
“Everywhere he went he ran into too much recession, man.”
“No, man, you mean he ran into too much repression, man.”
“Recession, repression, man… It’s all the same thing, man.”
:whacky:

Let me throw this question out here and see what everyone thinks about this:

Of the Christmas songs (or those that CLAIM to be Christmas songs) what MAKES them bad to you: The music, the lyrics, or are they ‘just stuck on stupid’.

Of instance, for the first time, I heard a song xalled "Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire’ by a Bob Rivers. I did some research and found that this song came from a CD that was released in 2000, so it’s been out there for 5 years. I laughed myself silly when I first heard it, but I know after a while I’ll realize that it’ll be just ‘another stupid song’.

So does a song have to finally stirke a nerve to become annoying, or will it happen all at once?

I agree - I can not stand that song!!
oh where is that Audible from yahoo IM’s of the guy getting sick? I can’t stand Santa Baby… makes me want to do this :banghead: I never knew Madonna sang it… I thought it was some deranged-I-sucked-alot-of-helium person trying to be cute…

Veronica Anne:
Wow. That’s interesting that it sounds like nails on a blackboard to you… 😦 .

That Mary, didja know…song is my very favorite!! I pray with it… and every time it hits home really deeply what the incredible mystery of God becoming man (Jesus) is!!!

Each and every time I hear that song. at some point or other during the song I cry… deeply… in total amazement… and sometimes so deeply that tears don’t even come…

The song helps me to realize that there are times that I am not practicing humility, myself…
There is a singer with the Bill Gaither quartet that really does a beautiful rendition of the song. I really like it!

Perhaps because “they”, like I, recognize that it is one of the most annoying songs ever written. 😛 Even a recording by Jars of Clay can’t make me like it, and that’s saying a lot.
