By God’s Grace, you have been spared from hearing the Hippo song. The song was first played in the early 1960’s.

By God’s Grace, I found it here - I like it. :clapping: I do not like the Beatles, so that got two songs the chop. And I really hate “White Christmas” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, equally; they are equally atrocious displays of high-quality schmaltz.

I just love the Chipmunks song! I guess because it came out when I was a kid.

I’ve never heard Madonna sing “Santa Baby” but I have heard it by Eartha Kitt. I don’t care for it.

Now, we will have a poll of our favorite Christmas songs?
I thought Cyndi Lauper did it. Was it Madonna?

I love Sting’s rendition of “The Angel Gabriel.”

we took MIL out riding to see Christmas lights last night, spectacular, but DH played XM radio, no less than 8 renditions of “Let it Snow” in a one-hour period, Frank was great but everybody else stunk bigtime, especially the hip-hop version. Reminded me of the memorable Gong Show episode when every contestant sange “Feelings.” This is my new worst song.

by the way, the real Christmas is alive and well in Hidalgo (home of the world’s largest killer bee) TX. Festival of lights at city park and town square is spectacular, nativity is the centerpiece, although there is plenty of Santa, elves (including martians) and the whole nine yards as well. Individual painted billboard greetings by school kids were great, too. All the private homes in the area were also lavishly lighted and decorated, spectacular nativity scenes.

It was Madonna, for the first A Very Special Christmas album. A new one is produced every year and the proceeds go to charity, though I’m not sure which one. The first one contained Madonna doing “Santa Baby,” as well as Sting’s rendition of “Coventary Carol” (which is fantastic), as well as other “gems” like

“Christmas in Hollis” - Run DMC
“Back Door Santa” - Bon Jovi
“Silent Night” - Stevie Nicks (and horribly monotone)
“I Saw Mommy” - John Mellencamp
“Santa Clause Is Coming to Town” - Bruce Springsteen
“Winter Wonderland” - Annie Lennox

I used to own a copy of it. U2 had one on there too. I’ve heard Eve 6 doing “The First Noel” from this year’s version and as a result I have a new nominee for worst Christmas song ever.

Has everyone tired of the secular songs yet!? I can’t even play Christmas music any more. But I can’t get tired of the ‘real’ Christmas songs…the religiouis ones! 🙂

I picked Jingle Bells-the barking dogs version. I have never heard the hippopatomus song. But one of the worst that is not on the list is “Santa Baby”. Bleech!

Joel Ruiz-Dana:
I’m surprised you didn’t include the Cheech & Chong Santa Claus skit. I LOVE that one, though! 😃

Cheech: No Man, Santa Claus isn’t a musician!
Chong: I’m hip! Man, that cat didn’t know any tunes. . .

:rotfl:
of course it isn’t included! it’s a masterpiece! 😃 😃

“donde esta santa claus…the guy with the hair on his jaws…”

My least favorite aka most hated…that song about the boy who bangs his drum and baby Jesus smiles.

**Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time **Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer -
'Tis okay, but kind of old and tired.

Jingle Bells The Jingle Dogs-
Oh yuck, I hate that.

**Don’t They Know It’s Christmastime **Christmas Don’t Be Late -
Hate it.

**So This Is Chrstmas/War is Over **-
Another one that stirs up a lot of emotion for me.

**I Want a Hippopotomas For Christmas **
One of my faves!

I just realized that we still have about 2 more weeks of bad secular Christmas Music. I can’t wait till we sing the ‘real thing’ on Christmas Eve and the days thereafter!
Oh, I have to disagree with you! I LOVE secular Christmas music! Of course I love the religious as well, don’t get me wrong. But they both evoke so much passion for the holiday for me.

In the wake of Sir Elton John’s recent exposure of his intolerance of organized religions I submit that the least favorite Christmas song in the vast collection of holiday music is…drum roll, please…

‘Step Into Christmas’

Elton has left the building! Good night!
