Our parish has the practice of calling all children into the sanctuary during the Our Father (at the "Children’s 9 am Mass), which is a real distraction to the solemnity (when that exists) of the prayer, considering most of the kids are not even praying at the time and the sanctuary should be off-limits to lay people.

I would stop so-called “Children’s Liturgies” which are usually an excuse for children getting out of the Mass when they are bored and giving the parents an excuse for non-supervision of their children.

I would return the patens use during Communion as I have seen on a couple of occasions, the Blessed Sacrament dropped. It would also give the altar servers something to do instead of talking to each other.

I would discourage Communion received in hand, especially children whose hands have been in places you wouldn’t want to know about.

I would also like our pastor to stop giving hockey reports during the announcements to the giggles and hoots of the congregation and save those announcements until Mass is ended. It also bugs me when people applaud ANYTHING during Mass.

St. John Vianney, ora pro nobis…Pax vobis

I hope he’s not listening to the game while saying Mass. That would be a real downer for me. 😦

THAT, would be scary. He might even just recite Hockey reports instead of the Missal. And in the Consecration, jump and shout that his favorite team won.

I understand if some people don’t like this suggestion, although I’m not talking burqas (the dresses wouldn’t cover the face!).
I just reread my post, and I just wanted to mention that I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was saying something against burqas (I happen to like them); I was just meaning to say the dresses wouldn’t cover the face. Probably a mute point, but I just wanted to clarify.

Catholic schools in areas where they are sorely needed, not simply where the incomes can support outrageous tuition rates. 👍

Wishlist:

Peter and Paul would descend and elect a new pope.

Vatican II and all its offspring will be condemned.

No more liberal seminaries.

More priests that are acutally “Real Catholic” priests. (would be very refreshing to say the least)

No more heretical masses either Traditional or the New Rite.

More compelling homilies and messages from our priests and clergy that emphasize a “return to the sacraments.”

A return of much more Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

For the Holy Spirit to move dynamically within the Church leading the Clergy and God’s people to the “True Church of Jesus Christ.”

The Blessed Sanctuary on the altar instead of in another room. It seems like God is separated from His people to have Him in another room. I’m not sure He likes that.

This would necessitate the altar once again against the back wall instead of facing the congregation.

Everything from first poster with added content.
  1. Better looking Churches.
  2. Better sounding choirs, that have training in classical music.
  3. Get rid of single cantors for responses. Sounds to much like The Sound of Music musical.
  4. Hopefully the various orders will start wearing their traditional garb when in public. Nuns wearing their habit’s for example.
  5. Young women encouraged to become “Nuns”, rather than “Women Priests”.
  6. More Traditional Catholic material published.
  7. Getting rid of the NAB translation, or any other inclusive language translation of the Bible. More appropriate ones would be of course the classic Douay Rheims, or the more modern RSV Catholic Edition, and Second Catholic Edition, as well as The Jerusalem Bible.
  8. Churches stocking up on incense, either traditional Catholic or Orthodox incense. And using it, reverently. At Vespers, Matins, and Mass.
  9. More Candles!.
  10. Better looking statuary, or Icons. (Icons go back to very early tradition).
  11. Mass being referred to a Sacrifice rather than a Celebration.
  12. Strict rules on talking, photography, etcc. When present in a Church or Cathederal. That includes popular Cathederals as well. Like Notre Dame in France.
  13. Public Matins and Vespers, with Gregorian Chant.
  14. Priests more involved with teaching theology in their parish. Not just lay people. Conducting Bible studies, Church history and tradition studies, Prayer, etcc.
  15. No eucharistic ministers. This is the priest or deacons job!.
(for ref: their were no eucharistic ministers present at Mass, for 400 years prior to the seventies.)
I’m sure I could add more to this post. 🙂
Excellent ideas, all of them. In reference to number 14, real Bible studies where one person teaches and everyone else listens, not just the kind where everyone displays their ignorance. Perhaps a parish “school” (in reference to number 13 and number 2) for teaching Gregorian Chant, organ (where this is customary), and sacred polyphony (also where this is customary). Also, more Catholic universities and colleges which would teach formally the above musics.

WISH:
Bells at consecration
Receiving on the tongue
Only the priest/deacon/altar server on the altar
No holding hands at Our Father
Private confessional booths
Altar rails
Enough priests/deacons to administer Communion
Host only, Precious blood complicates things(easier for abuse)
