Life and Death: What last nights "decision" could mean, for my family

I’ve kept my mouth shut long enough. I don’t like to “ruffle feathers”, but I can no longer keep quiet.

Ok, so “the people” have given Mr. Obama another 4 years. Would anyone care to know what this means for my family? 😦 There has to be someone out there… who cares.

It means that after 5+ years of sacrificing my own life, to keep my precious mother OUT of the nursing home system… I may now have NO CHOICE but to place her in one of those “death houses”.

Why?

Because I have just over a year now, to return to work outside my home… so that I can PAY for this nightmare health care mandate… that is being forced down our throats.

Have any of you ever spent time in a nursing home for those with dementia? They’re like HELL on earth. And I guarantee… my mother won’t live long, if I am forced to do that. But unless I can find someone, who is willing to sit with her… day in and day out… here in my home… for about $10.00 an hour (guess what folks, we are NOT wealthy!)… then I will have NO CHOICE.

Please pray for us.😦
 
Wow. I would have thought I’d get ONE response, here at Catholic Answers. I guess everyone is in shock?

Reality Checks… they’re never pleasant. God bless and have mercy on us, here in the U.S.
 
My heart pours out in prayer for you, for all of us as a nation, for all unborn children who will still be slaughtered, for the dignity of marriage and for the freedom of religion in our country.
 
Praying for your family and our Country. Praying that God will convert and guide our President’s heart and all those in congress and senate. May God bless them and may he lead them to make the right decisions for our country.

You haven’t explained just how the health care mandate forces you to do this. Are you currently without insurance?

I pray for your mother that she does not end up in a nursing home and thank God that she has a daughter that cares so deeply. May the Lord have mercy on us all. WE need God in America again.
 
I’m sorry to hear of your situation. I swear, I think the end is near with so many people turning against God, it is frightening. I will pray for you and your mother.:gopray:

Dear Marie,…I would site with your mother…if I could…

My prayers are with you that if you do come to that point you will find someone like me who is willing to help you but at least lives in the same state…

I was recently listening to a program on Siena College’s radio station (a Catholic college, but not one with a conservative reputation at all) in which a guest described several local horror stories related to this health insurance mandate, in which through no fault of their own people were stuck in catch-22 situations that did not allow them to obtain health insurance and now they were going to be fined for being in that position, or similar problems. The president promised that everyone would be able to afford health insurance and so no one would need incur this fine (tax penalty, technically). It sounds like that’s not the case.
 
i would like to put my 2 cents in…it seems to me, that in MY area anyway, SO many “Catholics” voted for the liberals, the pro-abortion Democrats and Obama.

So…are we practicing our faith teaching, our personal beliefs, what?

As a proud Catholic, I vote what my church has taught me about sanctitiy of life, respect for the unborn and elderly, etc.

Sadly, many “catholics” that I work with today are glowing, happy and such. HUH???
 
We heard nothing in “homily” about non-negotionals, would not even know their was an election coming up! Oh well, when is the last time you heard a homily on sin of any kind? Was told that if You miss mass that did not mean you would go to hell. Thank God for EWTN, catholic radio and Catholic Answers…
 
I am sorry that you need to go back to work to pay for the healthcare mandate. You mentioned that the nursing homes were “hell on earth”. My father in law is in an assisted living/nursing home and it is very nice and he is very safe there. Not all nursing homes are bad. Perhaps you can ask your archdiocese or priest for a recommendation for a Catholic nursing home. Some are run by nuns and can be affordable. Also if your mother needs assistance with four out of six activities of daily living you might be able to apply for a tax credit which might cover most expenses. A good CPA or lawyer with elder care knowledge can guide you here. In any case ask social agencies that deal with elder care for help in finding out who can provide assistance at low cost. Good luck.

Yes, I was in shock. Unlike the people who may not even realize that Americans will have to BUY health insurance (it’s not going to be free) I know exactly what you mean.

And I am sorry for all of us. I would beg for God’s mercy but I no longer believe that we deserve it.

I’m sorry that this is a painful time for you.

Can you be more specific? Why is the health care mandate forcing you to keep your mother out of a nursing home?
