I was, however, suspended for one day in the 7th grade over my long hair 😠.
My daughters are shocked by the length of my hair in the 70s in yearbooks–at a Jesuit school, no less (where we were subject to jug if it hit our collar), and while my mother was cutting it!

They think I should grow that much again (I could, but would need a larger beard that my wife wouldn’t like to match it . . .)
I think gumbo is one of a set of dishes that basically developed because you had a bunch of leftovers and none of them were big enough for a meal.
My father had one of his own . . at some point in high school, he started freezing all leftovers, even the salad, to make “soup.” Eventually my next brother noticed that I always seemed to be out with friends instead of home for dinner those nights 😱😜 who, me?

Probably a decade ago, when I came into the sacristy to vest before liturgy, the priest asked if I could give the homily that morning 🤯😱🤔

My mind started racing in multiple directions at once . . . this isn’t permitted! . . . what is the Gospel about??? what could I say that would fit any random Gospel? . . .

He then smiled and told me he was kidding . . .

He was actually the second person who blew it by not selling tickets, as people would pay to see me speechless . . . the prior time was my wife and secretary wandering into my office with dopy grins . . . and informed me that the early ultrasound revealed twins . . . apparently the only words I manage to say for the net hour was “twins???” every couple of minutes . . . about an hour later, I called home and asked, “where are we going to put them?” (we lived in a two bedroom student apartment with a 7 and 8 year old . . .

(the twins turn 21 in January . . .

I made a good friend speechless once.

I told him I’d gone to mass the sunday before.

Having been in a few apple fights, in my youth, I agree! Ouch! (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
