So why was it not a constitutional duty in 2016?I do not understand. Perhaps I don’t understand what you are referring to.
Filling the vacancy is part of the constitutional duty… isn’t it?

It already is. The duly elected president spent the first two years being accused and investigated for spurious charges, followed immediately by impeachment for nothing. The Democrat speaker of the house speaks of “arrows in their quiver” to use against Trump if he dares to exercise his power to appoint a Supreme Court justice. And that’s not political “war”?I don’t want our political life to devolve into ‘red in tooth and claw’ all-out war.
Obama had the power to nominate, and did. McConnell had the power not to bring it up for hearings, and didn’t. Nothing unconstitutional about either thing. So why was it not a constitutional duty in 2016?
That has always been the case.Basically they’re toggling back and forth based on which party occupies the presidency.
I do not recall anyone stopping the president from nominating anyone. So why was it not a constitutional duty in 2016?
Why did Mitch McConnell refuse to bring it to floor if it is such a Constitutional Duty.I do not recall anyone stopping the president from nominating anyone.
Perhaps you can elaborat
Does that make it right?BecUse he could that’s why.
Oh, I understand the Senate. You completely misunderstand the composition of the Senate. The population is represented in the House of Representatives. The Senate represents the states.
Perhaps you misunderstood. Why did Mitch McConnell refuse to bring it to floor if it is such a Constitutional Duty.
As the House can lead to the tyranny of the majority. I would prefer not to be ruled by the big cities.Oh, I understand the Senate.
It can lead to the tyranny of the minority.
And hence the divide the country finds itself in.As the House can lead to the tyranny of the majority. I would prefer not to be ruled by the big cities.
Do they have an obligation to bring it to the floor? The senate has no obligation to approve.
I do not believe so.Do they have an obligation to bring it to the floor?
