ExplainCatholic, if you feel there is nothing in common then you put no weight whatsoever to the bible and have no understanding of your own faith.

I think you won’t get an explanation, you are just being “dismissed”* and the well is being poisoned* just a tinch.Explain
Well, this is of course the view from Salt Lake City. One that requires Jesus Christ being separated from His Church. Catholics don’t share this view.Your own site defines Sacred Scripture as the Bible (Yes it’s a collection of holy traditions but it is now called Sacred Scripture instead of Tradition)
And Sacred Tradition as what the curch adds on top of the Sacred Scripture.
I find this very clear and don’t understand the confusion
In summary:
Catholics and Mormons share the core Sacred Scripture (the Bible)
Catholics have 2k years of Sacred Tradition not shared by Mormons
Mormons have additional Sacred Scripture and “Tradion” not shared by Catholics.

wow, reading comprehension for some of you is quite low.
Well, some of your statements are somewhat accurate, I will leave the ones I haven’t addressed to others.I felt STM’s errors required correction
There are clear differences in beliefs, culture and interpretation of common scripture, but at the level indicated my statements are accurate
- Catholics & LDS believe in the God of the Bible…(Not quite…Mormons believe their god is a perfected man with a body…that is NOT a Catholic teaching or belief)
- Catholics & LDS both have Christ as the leader of their respective Churches. (But the Christ of the Catholic Church didn’t have Lucifer as a brother)
- Catholics & LDS follow the Bible as ‘Sacred Scripture’ They do not agree on subsequent Sacred Tradition or revelations/doctrine (Mormons believe in the Bible, "as far as it has been correctly interpreted/translated)
- Catholics have a God that is unchanging and all-powerful. (covered in the first bullet)
- Catholics & LDS believe Salvation comes from both faith and works
- Catholics & LDS both believe in God’s Mercy,
- Catholics & LDS both believe Jesus is the ‘only begotten’ Son of God. Though scripture teaches we are all “sons of God” (mormon and Catholic views of “begotten” are quite different)
- Catholics believe Mary is forever Virgin, LDS believe Mary had a family with her husband. (Let’s not forget that mormons believe their god had physical sex with Mary)
- Catholics & LDS believe in the Trinity of God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. (Again, mormon version of god is he has a physical body, and is an exalted man…NOT a Catholic teaching)
- Catholics believe they are “three persons in one nature.”
- LDS believe they are “three persons in one purpose”
- Catholics & LDS can visit cities and places in the Bible, Archeology supporting the BOM is contested (does contested mean non existant?)
- Catholics believe that a calling to serve God is special and personal and can last a lifetime, (Not quite right. All are called to serve God, just not in the same capacity)
- LDS believe everyone is called to service, thus allowing church wards and programs to run using volunteer staff. (You are obviously not aware of all of the “volunteer” ministries of the Catholic church. One BIG one is St. Vincent DePaul, but the list goes on.)
LDS must be taught these things because the same erroneous comparisons from LDS keeps popping up.Well, some of your statements are somewhat accurate, I will leave the ones I haven’t addressed to others.
I agree. I just wonder why LDS produce comparisons that seem to work to show that there are no differences, when they know there are “100’s”.-If we dig down on any issue they are always 100’s of differences. We are not the same,
Are you aware that in the Thirteen Principles of the Jewish Faith states that God has no body?I felt STM’s errors required correction

I’m pretty certain the Jews don’t believe in the Trinity, Overlooking Jesus has a big impact on the definition of God, so Jewish God does not equal Catholic GodAre you aware that in the Thirteen Principles of the Jewish Faith states that God has no body?
Are you aware that Catholics believe in the same God as the Jews and that Mormons believe that God has a body and therefore cannot believe in the same God as the Jews or Catholics?
How can Mormons claim to be a Christian religion if Christianity is the fulfillment of Old Testament?
How can the Mormons re-define the God of the Old Testament?
Unfortunately, I have heard this a zillion times from Mormon posters. I will tackle this one later.I’m pretty certain the Jews don’t believe in the Trinity, Overlooking Jesus has a big impact on the definition of God, so Jewish God does not equal Catholic God
