There is a list of unbiblical catholic practices?
Does it have the imprimatur? Does God know? :bigyikes: Do you think the protestants will nark on us?
The Mormons, too, make use of this ridiculous list. It can be found in a little book for LDS missionaries, Missionary Pal, pgs. 96-97.These people are so gullible.
What this is is nothing more that “the Boettner List” from his classic anti-Catholic bunkum pile “Roman Catholicism”.
Too bad that all you have to do is CLICK THIS LINK to refute it. It’s called “The Boettner List: Fact ot Fiction?”
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum,
Because it is indefensible.Where’s William?
While I have often seen this list used early in debates, I have hardly ever seen it defended. Why is this?
Apparently so. I was just hopeful that one who would use this list would at least have an interest in making sure it was true.Because it is indefensible.
Oh.There is no reason to copy and paste Mr. Wolsley’s excellent article here, since a link was already supplied by CM.
His refutation is one of the best I’ve seen anywhere.

It’s just like Da Vinci Code. Lots of people are willing to believe anything that agrees with their prejudices without checking it.Apparently so. I was just hopeful that one who would use this list would at least have an interest in making sure it was true.
Disappointing.
This is such a systemic symptom of so many Protestant offensives.
Nothing in the Forum Rules or Banned Topics to that effect, especially since OBOB (where that is posted) is one of the better Catholic boards.Oh.
I didn’t think links to other boards were allowed.

And does this list of the Mormons carry the imprimatur? The Mormons, too, make use of this ridiculous list. It can be found in a little book for LDS missionaries, Missionary Pal, pgs. 96-97.
Yeah, and I just noticed that he didn’t put “changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday” in there either. Boy, Boettner’s got some 'spainin to do!!Eden,
I didn’t see the use of rings in marriage on that list; that is a pagan import into the Church. Ask your Protestant friends if they will protest that!

Yeah. Whoever sent that list to him, was worshipping Lorraine Boettner, and believes in the doctrine of Boettner Infallibility. In a thread started by Sixtus entitled, ironically, “Why do Protestants slander us?”, sandmountainsli posted the following list which he said was e-mailed to him. I already began answering these accusations in the original thread by giving proof that the dates are false. Then I when I got down to the claims of Transubstantiation and Confessions, I realized this list should have its own thread. It’s so blatantly wrong!
Comments anyone?
Yeah, gee, Boettner must have been having an off day when he wrote that list!!…By the way, where are the other Catholic inventions like the Trinity, and the list of the 27 books of the New Testament, didn’t they make this list?
