Little Boy Wanders onto stage with Pope Francis

Okay, the filmettes of the little kid who invaded Pope Francis’ space during the big “Family Day” do in Rome are fun. I am sure the MSM will play them for a couple days and even more people (who may or may not have any intention of changing thing one about their lives) will say something like, “I have a bone to pick with the Catholic Church, but I’m really starting to like this Pope.” Liberals will continue to gush that “There has never never ehvurrrr been a Pope so fantastic and wonderful or who has ehvurrr smiled at a child!”

Do any of you remember the Press waxing poetic about this incident that happened back in 2011?

I didn’t think so…

(And on the subject of popes and kids, who can forget Pope Leo XIII’s reaction when Therese Martin broke protocol and pleaded with him to allow her to enter the Carmel at a young age…also very charitable)

The point is that the MSM is intentionally trying to spin everything about Francis…trying to make him into a creation of their own design and make him into something that he is not. This is a small part of it.

Don’t trust the MSM. Even if it’s “nice”.

And, again, I am a big fan of Pope Francis…
…not because of anything the MSM has said about him…
…but because of his own words and actions ← the link here is an archive of all of his daily homilies and most, if not all, of his other addresses since his election
 
I watched it on the news this morning and it made my heart so happy. 🙂

I saw that. It was amusing how Brian Williams introduced the story by saying “Finally tonight, another new indicator this new Pope, Pope Francis, isn’t like the others who came before him. Right, as if the Popes who came before him regularly scolded and smacked kids who came up to them on stage or wherever else, and justified their actions by making reference to the words of Jesus: “Do not touch me” (cf. John 20:17) and “Depart from me” (cf. Matthew 25:41).

I think it would be a great idea for a blog to take every headline about something Francis says or does that is “novel” and finding corresponding examples of other popes doing the same thing. 🙂

How about this: every time the media swoons about Francis somehow being open to changing this doctrine or that, correct it with the actual quote from Francis (along with Magisterial references)

I thought Pope Francis handled this well but I couldn’t help wondering where were this kid’s parents? When my husband and I were watching this last night I told him there was no way I would let one of my children run amuck on any stage, during any ceremony, let alone the one with the Pope. He said maybe the parents were too afraid to go up on stage because of cultural reasons; because he was the Pope?

That is such a wonderful picture though! And to see the Pope continue and allow the boy to be up there with them, it’s very touching for me. A lovely Pope!
 
I’ll have to desagree with those who think this was a cute action on the kid and want to back that up with The Bible were Jesus tell his disciples “LET THE CHILDREN…”. There is a time for everything and Pope Francis has dedicated time to children before just like Jesus did, but there isn’t a verse on The Bible or tradition were it says that Jesus got interrupted by children in the sermon ot the mount or any other time.
The day that Jesus dedicated time for children was that day that the scriptures talk about, all the other times the parents were handling their kid pretty well as this kid should have been.
This, from my point of view is lack of discipline from the parents. If Pope Francis didn’t react differently to this situation it’s because is not his responsability to keep children in their place, that job belongs to the parents.
Kids allowed to do this type of behavior is nothing different from the kids that walk up to the altar in the middle of the Mass and parents let them wander around.
To me, this action is lack of respect for authority from parents and kid.

Who knows what difficulties this little former orphan has to live with or overcome. He seems to me to be a little mentally challenged. I have to give his adoptive parents credit for accepting him into their lives. It is easy for us to sit back and criticize the parenting of others when we don’t know all of the details. The security guard and the Archbishop were not having any luck getting the boy to respond properly to them either. What a blessing it must have been for this child to be blessed by the Pope.

I thought the article said that it was an address to grandparents and their grandchildren. Perhaps the boy was there with his grandparents and they simply were not quick enough to catch the little guy before he got away from them. 🤷

Exactly. My son has autism. If he got away from me and ran up there, it would not be an easy thing to get him to come back and he certainly would pay no heed to the security guard or anyone else.

These things happen. If the pope wasn’t too concerned about it, I don’t know why anyone else should be.

This reminds me of the glass is always half emty crowd. These people during Benidict would complain that the press treated him unfaily, now e have a pope that they are reporting on and the Catholic message is getting out and they still complain.
Pope Frances has been in the press monthly, money caanot buy this kind of press and good will. Be thankful when that it is happening and the in your own parish, carry through from his example, make the stanger, the child, the sinner welcome with open arms.

I believe that some of the media do use Our Holy Father Pope Francis in order to make subtle attacks. For example, the link posted of the news announcer saying something to the effect that this pope was unlike any of those before him… But I also agree with those who say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade! So yes, I’m thankful for any news we get of our Holy Father.

How do we know that there wasn’t more incidents like this that just weren’t included in the Bible? The Bible isn’t a history book that lists EVERY incident in the life of Jesus. It gives lessons that pertain to how we should live our lives. You’re right that it didn’t list example after example of kids coming to Jesus, but the gospel writers DID think it was important enough to list that example, hoping for us to glean the lesson from it.
