Not so much anymore. The greatest shall be the least. I’m not a priest or in the hierarchy.
Will pray for you my friend. You will need guidance beyond that which you can give yourself. God works through man, so I hope that you will one day again find someone that you respect a bit more than others, at least when it comes to religious teachings 🙂

I agree, and I can’t comment honestly on much of that. I don’t know exactly how much covering up was done, and I doubt that anyone really knows just how much, or how little was done. The media does tend to gravitate towards Catholics with this however, and I have said why I believe this to be true.

Just something I dug up here, as you can’t find much on actual numbers for non-Catholic Christians and molestation:
None are exempt…Wheat and tares are among us all…In all churches that lift up Christ Jesus…That’s why it’s imperative we each walk close to Jesus…To discern the times, to pray for those in authority of us and be able to give to others the hope that lies within us…

Yes, it is true, and it is in the bible.

Love God with all your heart and put no other gods before God.

As Catholics, mass is our time to offer Thanksgiving to God.

Putting earthly desires ahead of this offering is a grave sin.
 Well it is in the Bible to love God and put no other before Him. It even tells us where two are found, Christ is in their midsts. And I have no doubt it is a good thing to worship in community. It’s the definition that it’s a mortal sin part and vs something else being venial that I was referring to. Man made stuff.

Even though I’ll always love aspects of the Catholic faith and will always consider myself Catholic, I think it’s too complicated. I’ve read a lot here at this site that confirms that thought. I really don’t want to deal with so much complication in my relationship with God right now. I don’t feel like dragging my children to Mass anymore. We haven’t gone to Mass much in the last 6 months. I think our family will be looking for a simpler faith.
There is so much about your inner self from what you have written that needs
to be addressed… I don’t know where to begin…

On one hand, I think you need to be instructed in some basic foundations of being
a person and a parent… but on the other hand, it really isn’t anyone’s elses place
to say so too you. But then you did put it out here in the public… The fact that you
did this, seems to say too me, that maybe some other opinions just might be
properly in order but if not, you can always disreguard it.

Your children are infants by law until they are eighteen years of age. And you are
the parents… the word parent does not spell friend. You can be friendly but you should
not be their friends until they pass their 18 yr birthday,

I assume that you stood over them at Baptism and promised God that you would
expose them to the Faith… think carefully about that vow you made to God.

If you children want to be entertained and have fellowship with teens ouside of school
give them a membership to the YMCA there. It is filled with people of their peers
and they are watched over very well by an association of christian adults.

But when it comes to the needs of their souls… they need a chruch which will allow them
to be connected to the Graces of God in order to develope their christian morals
and the strenght to live out those morals in a society which is against them.

The Catholic chruch has the main structures they need in order to connect
to God Himself through the Sacraments and there isn’t any other chruch which can do a better job of that than the Catholic Faith. And that is the first and most important part of their faith. The Sacraments.

when your children were young did you allow them to just eat candy for supper?
Or did you serve them the proper food for the proper nourisment of their bodies?

You need to think the same for them, in this matter also… Show them the faith
which will meet all of their needs… and stand up for that faith…

To have a relationship with God takes more silence than noise… we all have to
examine ourselves in order to see what it is that we are suppose to be doing
in the kingdom of God and compare that with what we are actually doing.
And go to the Sacraments for the strenght to do what the Holy Spirit tells us
too do…

How do we normally live? We tend to stay away from the silence of ourselves.
Notice how often the tv is on, or the radio… reading, going out often?

Most of the time, we are doing those things because we dread the silence
of ourselves… for it is within those silences that we discover our true selves
and we don’t like what we see… as what we should be…

I think we all need the silence and stillness of the Catholic faith…
Instead of allowing your children to walk away from the silence of God which
might be keeping them from some of the richest forms of God in their
lives “lead them into it”.

You have a problem with someone in your family? Take one of your
children and go into the chapel and say a Rosery for that problem
and share that with him/her. Show them the Faith in action.

Each of us goes to the Sacraments to receive more Grace from God so
we can be the person he wants us to be… that is it… it is a means to
receving our personal dose of the amount of Grace that God wants
to give too us. It is not a social function moment…

There are plenty of activities offered in most catholic churches. and
one can join them… and have a wonderful full social life within them.

If your church doesn’t… why not start one… there just might be more
young members there who are waiting for it too…

Just some food for thoughts…

Jesus gave the Church the power to bind and loose.

Jesus also told us to listen to the Church.

This is not man made, it is divine.

Teneas, I appreciate your prayers and thank you. I will pray for you as well if you don’t mind. God bless.

Yes I know that is your belief and it is your belief things never need reformed or corrected by Christ to avoid the gates of hell prevailing against His Church. I understand what you believe. That’s fine by me for you to believe as you want. Peace.

To paraphrase GK Chesterton.

If you want to open the door, it’s no use asking for a simpler key.
Yep,that’s the whole problem with many of the dissenters. They are looking for the easy way, they want to get there by way of the feather mattress. Toss out the hard stuff. :eek:Carlan

I believe the bible:

Matthew 18
17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

John 20
21Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

Luke 10
16"He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."

1 Timothy 3
15if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

2 Thes 2
15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

Matthew 16
17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Revelation ended with the death of St John.

Reformation of Christ’s Apostolic Church began 500years ago take a look at the can of worms the thousands of denominations are forever dealing with. How many chief vicars do they have, 40000? If that is the way you are considering , Lib, take your pick. God help us all to see the truth clearly. Carlan

I believe the bible:

You forgot some

Titus 1:7 For a bishop must be without crime, as the steward of God

vs 8 But given to hospitality, gentle, sober, just, holy, continent:

vs 10 For there are also many** disobedient**, vain talkers, and seducers: especially they who are of the circumcision:

11 Who must be reproved

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men, who turn themselves away from the truth.

Matt 7:15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 By their fruits you shall know them.

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.

This has nothing to do with my posts.

Catholics, including the pope, are sinners. Is that your point?

As a matter of fact, one of our popes denied Jesus three times!

Jesus started a Church and he gave the Church authority as well as the promise to be with it until the end of time.

Men are fallible, but the Body of Christ is not.

We can trust the Church Jesus started to lead us into the fullness of Truth.

Just curious of your definition of “the body of Christ”. I know who the head is…
1 Timothy 3
15if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Mere men cannot raise somebody from the dead. But St. Peter–by the authority given him by Christ–could. It’s right there in Scripture (Acts).

One wonders why people find it so easy to accept that Jesus could give His people the ability to raise the dead–an ability that is God’s alone–after His death, but that He somehow can’t manage to safeguard His own teachings through ensuring that those teachings are protected under the charism of infallibility.

Seems as if some people want to put limits onto God’s power.

 Wow I don’t have the time to list all of them. But find me in the Bible where it’s a mortal sin to miss Mass on Friday Jan 1, 2010. or Tues Dec 8, 2009? Or where at one time no meat on any Friday 52 wks/yr. And then suddenly it’s ok to eat meat on any Fri except during Lent. The Bible speaks of fasting. But where did Christ say we have specific dates of Ash Wed and Good Fri when we MUST fast?

You of course are going to resort to your beliefs in apostolic succession and bind and loose and that’s fine if that’s what you believe.

I believe in also searching Scripture to see if what we are being taught is in there. And again, sorry to bring it up again. But we were taught to know false teachers by their fruit. And to me that means not to shove child molestation under the rug and then for lay persons to pretend just because someone is human and can sin, that there aren’t at least some limits if they are truly to be taken as upper leadership in the Church. I’m not judging their salvation. I do try to discern if they are true shepherds by their fruits we will know them by. But that’s me. Peace.
Yes, you can point out what the Church refers to as traditions with a small “t”. The biggies are what we need to take a deep look at. Mortal sin against the doctrines of the Church. Artificial birth control, abortion, divorce along with remarrying, yes and not keeping holy the Sabbath. To be true to yourself you have to be true to the Christ’s Church.:yup:Carlan
