While I am sure Cardinal Arinze welcomes all prayers, he will not be one of the voting Cardinals.

I’m grateful to everyone who has joined in the prayers (and through the Adopt-a-Cardinal website–I suppose I’ll never know if that’s someone who participated in the efforts last time). I just love the mental image of the Cardinals walking into the conclave, each enveloped in a cloak of prayers.

Going down memory lane, when I did this project the first time, I picked Peter Cardinal Erdo because he was the youngest (unfortunately, I don’t have the diacriticals when I’m not copy/pasting). I just decided that I was going to stay with him this time, too. I am looking forward to the white smoke.
 
Praying for my 2 cardinals has gotten me more interested in the process.

There is a thread on the Traditional Catholicism forum about Cardinal Burke for Pope. He is one of the cardinals I am praying for. People there seem to think very highly of him. That was interesting to see.

Well, gosh, that’s disappointing. 😦 I agree with kanrok about the “fishwrap” 😉

I’ll probably still download it anyway, unless someone finds a better one and shares it with us.

Lisa, knowing you aren’t even Catholic, I think it is just awesome that you want to do this. Are you sure you aren’t Catholic? 😉

There is a saying “Once a Catholic, always a Catholic”. I believe that may be true. I became a Catholic in 1986 and have drifted away from the Church a few times; currently I attend an Episcopal church.

It’s not just a saying, it’s a spiritual reality. The sacrament of Confirmation is indelible.
 
Just a reminder–the Conclave starts tomorrow. Today is the last general congregation. Let’s continue in prayer.

That’s interesting. Aren’t Episcopalians practically the same as Catholics, with the exception of not being under the Pope? But you’re praying for two cardinals and paying attention to what’s happening during the process…so why not go to a Catholic Church? Feel free not to answer such a personal question on a public forum lol.

I have some disagreements with some of Catholic doctrine on social issues, and the Episcopal church is closer to what I believe.

I’m always surprised when I hear something like this. Episcopalianism/Anglicanism is pure protestantism but dressed up in lace and having a Catholic appearance.

I grew up going to a church that is evangelical in style and Calvinist in theology, so I see Episcopalianism/Anglicanism as quite similar to Catholicism.

The author is a Catholic priest, who grew up Evangelical, then converted to Anglicanism and then became Catholic when he understood the fundamental tenets of Anglicanism. What he writes about this topic is very interesting and he makes a very good case for why the church needs a pope. 😃

It is amazing how praying for some of the Cardinals specifically makes me feel so much more connected to the upcoming Conclave. Cardinal Wilfrid Napier has spoken on some of the clips I have watched, so that was great. Cardinal Ennio Antionelli seems to be more in the background, but at least I’m learning about another Cardinal.
