The protestant faith is a {chop}…
I chose to edit the remainder of this post as I found it too uncharitable to quote. If you want to read it (before it gets deleted by CAF staff), just click on the little link.

To all those who are not in full communion with the Catholic Church, do not let such posts upset you. As Catholics we encounter this type of thing too, from time to time, from various anti-Catholic groups. While it can be upsetting, most of us realize that the majority of non-Catholic Christians do not feel that way and would repudiate such remarks in the same way and for the same reasons that I repudiate this post.

Why do I? Is it because this post does not accurately state certain Catholic teachings on the non-Catholic Christian groups? That this post is not correct on a couple of points is not the issue. It is the manner in which is was stated. Even the parts that were factually correct were said in a manner that violates the directive Pope John Paul II gave us,

[sign]“Teach truth
with charity”.[/sign]

I will also add that this post was quote off topic.

So you have determined our fate. It is good to know that you stand in God’s place where I and my “false religion” followers are coonsidered. Keep it up. You make this whole Christian thing lool real appealing for unbelievers.
Not my teaching. What I stated is what the Holy Catholic Church has always taught.

Please let me say to you that I am very sorry if any of my fellow Protestants have offended you. Nothing irritates me more than when Chrisitans attack one another. We all can use, and enjoy, healthy conversation, but it is a shame that some folks say outlandish things and ruin the opportunity(ies) that we might have to enjoy one another’s company. I also want to close by saying thank you for defending others and taking a stand in a dignified and Christ-like manner.

But it is okay for you to attack Pope Urban II.

If one dies in mortal sin one will be in hell. If one knows that the Holy Catholic Church is the True Church and does not join Her, there is no salvation for that person.
Thats the teaching of the Church as far as I know it but if someone can show something different in Church writtings I’ll bite.

You speak for the Catholic Church? Just believe in Christ, that is all that matters, wrong. Show us why my statement is not true.

But it is okay for you to attack Pope Urban II.
I did not attack him. I just stated a simple fact. I am not condemning him for it! I was just stating a fact. It’s history, and that’s all it is. It’s not an attack. He said it, and I just pointed it out to try and ask if that was not a wrong and ungodly thing to say. Instead, you said rude things. This is not worth it anymore.

You are not stating a fact. The Church never said “kill muslims and you go to heaven”

Now do you read the entire history not just a sentence?

For if you read the entire historical data it was the Catholic Church and it’s war cross that allows you now not to have to own a rug and bow down to Allah.

The Catholic Church saved Europe.

You don’t attack the Catholic Church you just state the Catholic Church said it was okay to murder muslims. The Holy Crusades was not about murdering muslims. All I stated was that the Holy Catholic Church is the only true religion.

You said the “Protestant Christ is a false Christ”.

Not accurate. See here.

Document from the CDF on regarding the state of other Christian Churches and faith communities not in full Communion with the Holy See.

Their Christ is the same Christ. They do have have the fullness of truth, all the sacraments, or apostolic succession.

But that is then end for this. This is way off topic.

The topic of this thread is about the wild and baseless speculation from a poorly research, and later repudiated, London Times Story that the Pope was going to somehow “rehabilitate” Martin Luther.

This topic is not about bashing people, calling them heretics, saying they have false Christs, or about what some 12th century Pope may or may not have said regarding certain aspects on the conduct of a war.

If you are not going to post about Luther, the London Times article or the Vatican’s response to it, then do not post on this thread.

I have the same authority to speak for the Church as you do.

You said the “Protestant Christ is a false Christ”. Not accurate.

Please see this document from the CDF on regarding the state of other Christian Churches and faith communities not in full Communion with the Holy See. It was published last summer and caused a bit of a storm at the time.

Please, stick to the topic of this post. It is about luther or don’t post on this thread, please.

perhaps would be wiser for us to listen more and talk less to those who are noncatholics who post here than try to convince yhem of our believes. they dont understand our believes and certainly arguments in this is way just are not going to help them.

Believing Christ is God is not enough. The protestant faith rejects many of Christ’s teachings.
The Roman faith has made up a lot of new teachings (the Marian dogmas, papal infallibility, etc) that has absolutely NO Scriptural support, and hence: are unbiblical → unchristian.
I cannot think of any biblical dogma that Lutheran orthodoxy rejects (the Calvinists, for instance, reject the Real Presence), and I dare you to find one.

And please - not the old tired “Peter’s primacy” once again. I have rebuked that one so many times it’s getting tiresome…

Finally: Please notice that I say BIBLICAL, which means: NOT one of those that have their basis in “tradition”.

If one dies in mortal sin one will be in hell. If one knows that the Holy Catholic Church is the True Church and does not join Her, there is no salvation for that person.
I can’t see where this would apply?
I mean, SUPPOSE (!!!) that I was convinced that the Roman Church was right.
Why would I not join it?

Makes no sense…

I am sure you have heard this one as well. All Catholic sacraments are Biblical. Which, of course, they are.

How about if someone knows that the Catholic Church is not the true church and doesnt change?
