Wow! Look at all the Protestants on this thread! ⦠but what would you recommend if the Bishop does nothing, or worse, agrees with frspicer?
I count two protestants, possibly a third (yourself included by admission).
The rest are deferring to the bishop ā and grumbling.
This is what Fr. Spicer said in print;
In my homily I made the comment that what was called bread from heaven is produced by insects feeding off tamarisk trees in the desert. I donāt necessarily think of think of all excrement produced by insects as being offensive. After all, honey is produced by bees, yet we hardly think of honey has being offensive.
Fr. Rick Spicer
There is a certain amount of speculation in it, but not a thing against the faith.
What definitive error would he have to repent of?
I hold the insects are irrelevant to the miraculous nature of the ābreadā and wouldnāt bother leaving Fr. Spicerās parish if I were in it. I am sorry you interpreted my statements as being against Fr. Spicer.
If God had multiplied honey, would you say beeās werenāt involved, or that it wasnāt miraculous?
Why is it then, that it is OK for a wheaten bread to be multiplied from natural bread, but not bug regurgitation?
It is likened to honey ā bug stuff of all the possible choices of comparison! Not only that, but they had
to grind it up in order to make bread out of it ā so the idea of it being bread to begin with is a bit of a misnomer. ( Let alone Jesusā flesh as he stood before the Jews in the NT).
I mean, they picked the stuff up
off the ground if they didnāt find it in trees (Tamarisk being one such possibility). We donāt think of the Eucharist as something to throw on the ground! ( Just on a cross, the tree of LIFE! ).
I have to poo, poo, all this complaining. Itās like, God CANT do it any other way than yours? I think it is quite appropriate ā the Jews were REPELLED and DISGUSTED with the idea of Jesusā flesh being something to eat. Yet it was like an āIN YOUR FACE BUDā it is my flesh that gives life to the world (holistic, kataHolos healer). He said it that way as a discipline against the Grumbling, self appointed Abrahamās of his day.
I find it not all upsetting that they would find this stuff on the ground (or in a bee tree with manna honey), and a choice ā starve or eat. I am like calvin! Monkey brains have GOT to taste better than cauliflower!
warm regards.
KJV ā warning! warning!
Exodu 16:31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
