A Significant Number

Six hundred thousand marched
This day, upon DC
To fight for women’s rights
And human dignity

For a right to chose
For all ethnicities
To speak of inclusion
Against hypocrisy

Not one was invited
Allowed to disagree
A voice of innocence
A silent absentee

Number significant
About the same you see
Of those whose choice was taken
Life not allowed to be
A sad commentary. Very sad.

That’s right! This was not a Women’s March!!!
There have been a number of events and presentation I have observed about “real men.” Apparently from observing several of these is that they were not all in agreement in their Usage of the phrase “real man” and what is necessary for someone to qualify as such. A person would be labeled as being a real man or not a real man based on his responses to criticisms, invitations to participate in a fight, how he treats women, so on. How the phrase was used and who was included or excluded was more an expression of cultural identity , views, and values, not of age and biology. Having a penis and being above a certain age would does not alone qualify someone as being a real man by all of these groups.

Similarly I think the title “Women’s March” is emblematic of a collection of values, views, and cultural identity. It might also be considered idiomatic.

I think an appropriate title would have been, Women March to Trash Trump!!!

It’s not a disgusting comment. I’m a women and it’s exactly what the marches looked like.
No, it is a disgusting statement. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a woman or not – equating protesting women with one who’s simply got PMS is disgusting. Way to completely and irrationally dismiss a woman’s arguments. You don’t have to agree with these marchers. But making a comment about their menstrual cycles is just pathetic. Might as well say it’s fine for folks to dismiss Sarah Palin, Eleanor Roosevelt, or Mother Teresa’s complaints because they were just “on the rag.” If you’re a woman, take more pride in your sex. Even if those marching don’t.

👍 Disagreeing with people is no excuse for blatantly sexist vitriol

Yet these same women, that you are so eager to defend, allow the likes of Madonna Ashley Judd,Rosie O’Donnell to represent their platform by allowing them a bully pulpit in which to spew their vitriole…All the while wearing their little pink hats that have been named for a certain womans’ body part.Yeah, these are real classy women indeed!

Only certain women are allowed to wear the “woman” hat, it appears.

^^^^^
This and also some of the messages on the signs were degrading to women, e.g. "P—y Power.

Reread my post. Why is the bad behavior of some women justification for all of us to act like pigs?

Whose acting like a pig? Not I for one.If referencing this march ,as a bunch of women suffering from PMS is a piggish statement, then I have to disagree. It is an apt description, one they appRently embrace

Why have a platform for these bad women after the left lectured us for months about Trump’s language?
I really don’t get it!

And what, exactly, is real masculinity? Is it taking care of your family, making sure your wife isn’t worn out from too many pregnancies or worrying about how the children will be fed, protecting all women and children from abuse, teaching boys that women are to be treated as princesses, making sure that no woman in your community has to struggle to feed her children (widows and abandoned women in particular come to mind), punishing men that violate these rules.

I have yet to see men follow these rules. I am sure that there are many that follow some of the rules. But few follow all, especially when it comes to those outside their immediate family.

So before a person complains about ‘feminists’, maybe they should look to how men in general, treat women. Many women are left to fend for themselves. Are you there to help them?
I agree wholeheartedly. With that in mind, though, I would like to add a brief (ish), conjectural cause to the objectification of women in the past fifty years. (You’ve been on this forum long enough; you know where this is going.)

Contraception brought with it a mindset that sex is for pleasure alone, rather than for an intimate union between two persons potentially producing a third. As such, the contraceptive mindset views the other person as an object, rather than as another human, so the idea of roles and complementarity is thrown out the window and replaced with one of “how much pleasure can I get out of this person?” As such, men have fewer incentives to act properly with women in general.

Obviously, this is not an excuse. This is an explanation. But it does suggest a course of action: destroy the contraceptive mindset.

:twocents:

Therein lies the hypocrisy. These women who feigned outrage at Trump’s comments, weren’t really offended, the speak and act in ways far worse than anything he said. His bus tapes were a convienient opportunity to hopefully flatten his campaign. This so their feminist heroine HC,the chief enabler of BC,could become the POTUS! So transparent:rolleyes:

So it’s okay with you if people normally dismiss women’s arguments because they must simply be “PMSing”? 'Cause* that’s* piggish.

There is no hypocrisy. The pearl-clutching seems to be coming from the other side. I find it really sad and disturbing that pro-life women were barred from participating in this march. I think any violence enacted during it was immature and reprehensible. I believe men who talk about “grabbing p***y” are disgusting and I think women who shut down fellow women by claiming they’re just menstruating are cringe-worthy.

I think the values that those involved hold would still be held with or without the president. But I can see why he would be held as a person seen as antithetical to their values and a symbolic or literal person of opposition based on his his own words and how he has engaged women.

Agreed. Besides, those vulgar, embarrassing celebrities are not running for the highest office of the land, unlike the vulgar, embarrassing celebrity who is now our president. Both are bad, but imo it’s especially bad when you are running for president.

Its not about taking PRIDE in being a woman as much as being realistic.

PMS symptoms include mood swings, tender breasts, food cravings, fatigue, irritability, depression, pain in various parts of body, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, water retention, anxiety, headaches and insomnia.

Lets not even mention the plethora of symptoms related to menopause.

I view Kat07 remark as realistic and not disgusting.

I’d like to know where the dignity of womanhood was in wearing faux female genitalia on the head. 🤷

Maybe too many to these women marchers watched the V@gina monologues. Those monologues reflect the culture we live in.

I thought they were supposed to be cat ears, not faux lady parts. For a play on words.
