Catholic couples are free to choose to have sex only during infertile days of the month (Which is most of the month) if they have good reasons to believe that they should not get pregnant at that time. People do it quite successfully, and I’m sure that you’ll find many threads here discussing it and people’s experiences with it.I can’t understand why is so important to interfere in other people’s private acts.
How can anyone tell a couple with 4, 5 or more kids that they are not open to life if they engage in non-vaginal sex?
The periods of abstinence can be very spiritually beneficial, sort of like fasting (Incidentally, Eastern and Oriental Christians fast a lot during the year and usually have to abstain from sex when they are fasting too) and can help with spiritual growth. But also, it can be beneficial for the couple’s relationship too!
