I couldn’t agree more, and I keep telling people that this is no longer America, and that we are now ruled by a globalist de-facto government that still attempts to appeal to a twisted sense of patriotism in the American people in order to gain support for it’s latest wars of aggression. Call it what you will, a Pornocracy, a Sodomocracy, a Gaga-ocracy, it’s no longer a Constitutional Republic.

I’ll let Mark know that there is no such thing as a “utopian” socialist tyranny.

A gramme of Soma anyone?
Most of these media-politico-types (on both sides of the fence) seem more interested in saying something that gets attention than in saying something that’s accurate and sensible.

America is very quickly becoming a police state. It doesn’t take a loud-mouthed radio hack to figure that one out.

A day late and a dollar short. This is old news for those with eyes to see and ears to hear. And the focal point of the change was not a result of some governmental policy or economic spasm. The core of the change was a deliberate philosophical turning away from God and traditional morality over the last several decades. Quite ingenious, if you think about it. Evil, but ingenious.

Really……I’ll have to remember that next time I’m in South Korea where troops put their rifle barrels to your head for being out after midnight.

Whenever I hear the police state nonsense applied to America I know I’m not dealing with a person who even knows what a police state is, in terms of past police states that don’t exist anymore, or even current police states.

And yes, I know you didn’t say America IS a police state now but the fact is that we’re not even in the ball park of getting near to being a police state. It just isn’t even close to the horizon. Those who make such claims are just sky-is-falling, alarmist mode, don’t know what a police state is to begin with, have never been out of the country, or have a adopted a REALLY watered down definition of police state.

You are actually very blessed to live in one of the freest societies in the history of the world. A little thankfulness would be good about now.

By the way, you DO realize that in police states, people are locked up for saying such things as you just said, so are you now worried?

What major construction project–intended to seperate entire peoples–began on August 13, 1961, and how long did it take for that method to become productive?

Hint: it happened in Germany.

Hint: It took one day to seperate thousands living in that city.

Methinks you mean NORTH KOREA - yes?

Be careful now, my wife is Korean and I have been to South Korea, and no such thing ever happened.

Or maybe he means that the tyranny is created by utopian socialists - those good old folks that say it’ll create a “Greater Good” if you and I consent to sell our neighbors and children into bondage at the mercy of Big Brother.

You know, folks like Barack Obama.

Levin is spouting apocalyptic nonsense. Obama has been president for a couple of years now. For all of the problems we face in the U.S., we clearly live in a constitutional democracy. All of this “call to arms” and “take back our country” foolishness is intended to appeal to fears for which there is no evidence. Listen, did Obama stop the Republicans from gaining a majority in the House? No. Have we seen an erosion in freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly? To the contrary.

Levin is pandering to hate-mongers and the fearful. I’m pretty shocked that some on the CA Forums agree with him. The suggestion that Obama is moving toward a police state and ignoring or undercutting the Constitution bears no relationship to reality. I’ve lived through Nixon and Watergate, Reagan’s Iran Contra crisis, the lies told by Bush to justify the invasion of Iraq and his use of the War on Terror to justify torture, evesdropping on U.S. citizens, etc. Obama’s presidency doesn’t come close to such shenanigans.

utopian tyranny
I’m pretty sure the word for that is “dystopia.” However, since he called it a utopia, I can’t imagine why he would be worried about its approach. That would be like telling someone they need to change their habits or they will end up winning the lottery.

You forgot “extrajudicial assasinations of US citizens under President Obama”. I’m sure if a Republican President had done the same, the protests would be unavoidable.

So now waterboarding 3 foreign national, non-uniformed enemy combatants, whose intelligence was used to locate and kill bin Laden has been banned, but extrajudicial predator drone strikes are a legal precedent.

👍

South Korea.
So was I and it DID happen.
It was martial law which may or may not be in effect nowadays.

Considering that DHS and the FBI are now sweeping Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc… to collect 'evidence" of criminal activity, YES. Plus, I am not in the business of trying to convince people just how much liberty they have lost since 9/11. If you can’t figure that out for yourself and take precautions, that’s your problem.

You don’t live under a police state, a tyranny, or anything close to it.
It’s actually kind of sad when people in this country, where we have so much freedom and excess as compared to other nations can somehow be so ungrateful.

I live in Orange County CA, where I cleaned windows at a house where the spoiled teenage brat had his nose out of joint and felt like he was being treated badly because on his 16th birthday, he only got a brand new VW Rabbit instead of a brand new Porsche like he wanted.

Don’t be like that kid. You’re very blessed to live in this country.

Perhaps for the moment we are blessed. However I for one am quite concerned when I hear of the “fairness” doctrine being presented by the left. Then there is ‘political correctness’ itself. Not to mention the fanatical refusal to even get to mention Intelligent Design in school textbooks. The change in Immenent Domain laws are concerning as well. Parental rights are being eroded as well with issues such as abortion rights for all (under age children) without parental consent such as in California. Then let us look at the demonizing of the Tea Party. The Media Bias -the self described Liberals in overwhelming percentages of the Media and College institutions. (see Ben Stein’s ‘Expelled’) The banning of ROTC from college Campuses. The battles for the Conscience Clause for health care providers. Eric Holder suing Arizona for protecting itself … Then there is abortion itself which denies Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness’ to the pre-born. Really …need I go on?

You must have me confused with your typical rah-rah hyperjingoistic brainwashed uberpatriot.

I’m not.
