Your quote that you used of mine was from a post regarding this concept. Sorry, I thought this is what you were talking about! šŸ™‚ I said that the concept of Mary being the Cornerstone wasn’t in the bible and someone came back with ā€˜neither is the Trinity’. My quote that you used was from my response to that… 😃
Gotcha!šŸ™‚

I deleted that part of your quote because I honestly dont know how to expalin that parallel.

I am confident that it will be explained for both of us though!

I am funny like that.

I kind of think of it like this… Those of us who live in the US, make up the US. When someone says ā€˜The US was hit hard when the twin towers were attacked by terrorists’ the person is referring to the people that live in this country. We as American citizens make up the US but there are millions of us, yet we are ONE country. This is the way I think of God though it is a little more complex than that simple explanation…
LOL! No offense, but try using that one on a Jehovah’s witness and see how far it gets you. Or a oneness pentecostal. Sheesh, there are more!

It’s not a perfect explanation but it works for me… šŸ‘ Those who don’t agree that is fine… 😃

It is fine? If someone you see is denying the TRINTY?

You dont care for evangelizing the cults I guess? More worried about us Mary ā€œworshippersā€ Right?

Can’t say I agree. The CORNERSTONE? Jesus is the ONLY cornerstone of Christianity. To put Mary in this position is, well, scary and makes me want to hide from the lightning bolts…
Hi Singinbeauty,

I think you are over analyzing my post,I’m just making point that
The Blessed Virgin Mary is very important part of are Catholic Faith.

Devotion to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary
This Message was confided by Our Lord to Berthe Petit, a humble Franciscan Tertiary, born on January 23, 1870, at Enghien, Belgium:

ā€œTeach souls to love the Heart of My Mother pierced by the very sorrows which pierced Mine.ā€ (December 25, 1909)

At the Holy Hour (March 25, 1912) the Blessed Virgin spoke thus: ā€œI have called myself the Immaculate Conception. To you I call myself Mother of the Sorrowful Heart. This title willed by my Son is dear to me above all others. According as it is spread everywhere, there will be granted graces of mercy, spiritual renewal and salvation.ā€

Wow! Discussion is sometimes going way over me! But that’s cool. So anyways, not to intentionally flog a dead horse too badly, but… what about Bible-believing Protestants and their views of Mary the Blessed? Anyone? Please?

Of course not… Where in my posts has ANYONE ever seen me call catholics ā€˜Mary Worshippers’???  Never… Please don’t put words in my mouth. I don’t agree to the level that Mary is put in catholocism but I don’t believe that the majority of catholics worhsip her…

<<<Mary is the mother of Jesus’ HUMANESS not His divinity. That is why I don’t consider her the ā€˜Mother of God’. While Jesus is both fully God and fully human He did exist before Mary was a twinkle in the line of David. So I believe that she is the mother of His human form but nothing more>>>>

If you believe that Jesus was divine from the moment of conception, then you must believe that Mary is the mother of both his divine and human nature. That divine spirit dwelled in her womb for 9 months. became part of her body. And through her was allowed to take human form. True that divine nature existed before her. But not in the form of Jesus. Therefore, Mary was he mother of both Jesus’ divine and human nature which he possessed as a man.

The thing is that you have to make sure that the words you use say what you mean. I never try to analyze a post and I do admit that sometimes I react before I think about where the poster is coming from but when you say Mary is the cornerstone:
now it seems that the Blessed Mother is the Cornerstone rejected by some Protestants.
It seems pretty clear…

While I believe that Jesus was continuesly divine Mary did not create his divinity so she is not the mother of it. Just like my mother is not the mother of my soul because God created that.

Protestant don’t like the term ā€œMother of Godā€ because they think
that Elevates Her too High, I say, so what, if its the Truth, its the Truth.

Cool! Thanks for the feedback! But no one actually calling her ā€œblessedā€? Too Catholic a phrasology perhaps? Is that a word? I think I just made that up.
You can’t get some people to call her ā€œblessedā€ just for this thread if they hardly do that in daily life. I don’t know what happened to the generation which supposed to call her ā€œblessedā€?

While I believe that Jesus was continuesly divine Mary did not create his divinity so she is not the mother of it. Just like my mother is not the mother of my soul because God created that.
That’s the way human beings are constructed - it is NOT the way God made flesh is constructed. You and every other ordinary human being has a body which comes purely from your biological parents and a soul which comes purely from God.

Jesus is not and cannot be an ordinary human being and divisible in the same way. If you say he is, then it means that the death of his body on the Cross means no more than the death of any other human body, and could not possibly have saved all of mankind.

Don’t you see that had to be GOD who died on the cross to save us, not any mere limited human body. To say any different is nonsensical. And if it was God who died on the Cross, then it was the same God who was formed in Mary’s womb and born of her. The human body of Jesus and his Godly nature are inseparably united.

I guess that’s my point. Although I’m disappointed that it’s so. Do no ā€œBible-believingā€ Christians want to adhere to the Bible and call Mary ā€œblessed?ā€ Anyone? C’mon! Please?

I thought that I said this before but I give a resounding YES… to this question. She is incredibly BLESSED beyond belief for God to choose her out of EVERYONE for the task that was laid out before her…

Her Prophecy came True, we Catholics call
Her ā€œBlessedā€.šŸ‘

Great! What’s the jist (or is it gist) of the last sermon or teaching that you heard about Mary?

Having been a Baptist for many decades, I will try to shed some light on this. First, let me say that Catholics have an emotional attachment to Mary that transcends rational Church doctrine. This probably explains why they think it so strange that Protestants pay very little attention to Mary. However, when you view Mary through Baptist eyes (a prominent character in the Christmas pagent), our perception of her becomes more understandable. For example:
  1. Baptists don’t believe in the immaculate conception.
  2. Baptists don’t believe in the perpetual virginity of Mary.
  3. Baptists don’t believe Mary was assumed body and soul into heaven.
  4. Baptists don’t believe in the communion of saints, so they don’t pray to Mary.
  5. Baptists say they don’t go outside the Bible for their doctrines and beliefs and it is undeniable that Mary only plays bit parts in the Bible–almost nothing outside the first two chapters of Luke.
  6. Baptists reject sacred tradition as an authoritative source of Christian beliefs, and without tradition, with the Bible alone, there just isn’t much to say about Mary.
As for Luke 1:48ā€“ā€œall generations will count me blessedā€ā€“for some reason it isn’t read in Baptist churches, not even at Christmas. I don’t think there is a conscious effort to avoid reading it, but it just isn’t regarded as particularly important. If it were removed from a new edition of the Bible, few Baptists would realize it was gone.

With that system of beliefs, it is hardly surprising that Mary is rarely mentioned–outside of two weeks in December. Certainly no Baptist I know holds any dislike or contempt for her. They just don’t regard her as all that important. So they hold her in approximately the same esteem that they hold other New Testament women, e.g., Lydia, Priscilla, Mary the mother of John Mark, Mary of Bethany and Mary Magdalene.

So the Protestant culture, at least the Baptist culture, is not a dislike of Mary but rather an ignorance of her. Also, they see her as a figure of history, not as a saint who lives in the present and desires to bring us closer to her son Jesus.

I thought that I said this before but I give a resounding YES… to this question. She is incredibly BLESSED beyond belief for God to choose her out of EVERYONE for the task that was laid out before her…
Yes, but according to you her task was to give birth to the mere human body of Jesus - nothing special about that, that is what every mother does. Nothing ā€˜blessed’ about it.

No… You are twisting my words. Stop doing that please. šŸ™‚

Yes she is mother to Jesus’ humaness but she was chosen to be the womb who brought forth God in human form. It’s not an either or but both. She gave Jesus His DNA but not the divinity…

On top of that I can’t imagine how I would have felt more Blessed than what Mary would have felt being able to hug, kiss, and love the Lord of her life! It brings chills to my skin just thinking about it. To talk to Him face to face. To touch Him and talk to Him everyday… *sigh… I tell you what, if I ever get my blasted time machine working the first thing I am going to do is go talk to Jesus face to face! I can’t imagine what a thrill that would be to hear His voice say my name… I guess I will find out when I walk through those gates of Heaven… šŸ‘
