First Fundamentalist 3:2.Where is that in Scripture again?
First Fundamentalist 3:2.Where is that in Scripture again?
33k denominations (and counting) all say hi.… and it is possible for the follower of Jesus Christ to understand His written Word … no doubt about this
Don’t trust people that write or speak with loads of words. (I know that trick.).
I could go on (consubstantiation, OSAS, double negative predestination, non-necessity of baptism, ect., are all Protestant dogma that is not found in Scripture explicitly, but is an interpretation of Scripture by individuals), but I think you get the point. You DO NOT believe in the sufficiency of Scripture. You have taken select doctrine, proliferated from other individuals who read the Bible, and have proclaimed them directly from Scripture. In essence, you (Protestants in general) have done exactly what you accuse the Catholic Church of doing, except on a much smaller, far less unified scale.
My friend, where is Mary right now?FIFTH COMMANDMENT from KJV
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Doesn’t this apply to Jesus to? Don’t you think he honored his mother and wants other to treat her with great respect.
My friend, where is Mary right now?
All Catholics, and a lot of protestants know where she is.
So may I ask…do you know where she is? (I do not know the belief of you denom, that is why I ask).
Honor your own mother and also the elder women of the church.
You sure it’s not found in St. Paul’s Letters to Joel Osteen?First Fundamentalist 3:2.
Thanks for the admission Literalist. Since you are not infallible when its comes to this matter, what if you and I disagree about the interpretation of certain Biblical passages? Who determines which if us has the correct interpretation?Tomster said:
“Providing you have an infallible interpreter since the Bible is the Infallible Word of God. Do you consider yourself to be an infallible interpreter of the Bible?”
I am not infallible, but the Word of the living God is … and it is possible for the follower of Jesus Christ to understand His written Word … no doubt about this
In Heaven along with the rest of the Church Triumphant, beholding God face-to-face and praying for those of us here below that we might join them by God’s grace. My friend, where is Mary right now?
I try to do so.Honor your own mother and also the elder women of the church.
Oh so the honoring stops once they are in Heaven?Honor your own mother and also the elder women of the church.
You know exactly how everything is going to work in Heaven?Oh so the honoring stops once they are in Heaven?![]()
Mary is in Heaven with her son. She intercedes for us often, bringing our petitions to her son by praying for us.My friend, where is Mary right now?

Those (the doctrine I listed) are all Protestant/Reformed doctrines that are taken from the same belief in ‘Sola Scriptura’ (which is actually the acceptance of other’s interpretation of Scripture, and thus not actually ‘Sola Scriptura’), which I also refuted, as they come from the exact same line of reasoning (or rather, lack thereof).Don’t trust people that write or speak with loads of words. I see something here that is supposedly a Protestant dogma. OSAS, which I believe stands for "Once Saved, Always Saved. "
The bible does not teach that at all.
It doesn’t.
The bible emphasizes, over and over, to protect your salvation. And to also look out for brothers and sisters in Christ on the same issue.
To say that that OSAS is largely Protestant dogma, is not quite right.
It’s dogma of churches that follow the general teachings of John Calvin. (Reformed and some Baptist.) Not all Protestant churches follow that specific teaching.
OSAS did not come from the Catholic or Orthodox church…so the only source is a Protestant group.Don’t

Both Lumen Gentium and the Catechism uses the word venerate.Catholics worship Mary.
The Catholic Church teaches that worship (special devotion, veneration) given to Mary is different from worship (adoration) that is given to God. The Second Vatican Council’s document Lumen Gentium explains this, as does the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

All Marian doctrines can be proven to anyone. The question always rests with the listener who hears the evidence and whether or not he is willing to accept it.I have a great deal of respect for Kempis, so I can understand the adoration of the saints. Yet, the Scripture is silent on Mary worship and I am curious why saints have felt the need to speak of her in such ways?
To me, Mary worship distracts from Jesus. Most would argue that through Mary, we look to Jesus but I would say to that: why not in Christ alone?
When you must ADD onto the Word, you find false doctrine.
What’s wrong with that is that you are creating a faith that conforms to your own sensibilities.Where is Mary right now?
To be honest, like you I believe that she is in heaven as well. But, I don’t believe in the Assumption.
No.
I think she was a believer until her very last day on earth.
What’s wrong with that?
