I could go on (consubstantiation, OSAS, double negative predestination, non-necessity of baptism, ect., are all Protestant dogma that is not found in Scripture explicitly, but is an interpretation of Scripture by individuals), but I think you get the point. You DO NOT believe in the sufficiency of Scripture. You have taken select doctrine, proliferated from other individuals who read the Bible, and have proclaimed them directly from Scripture. In essence, you (Protestants in general) have done exactly what you accuse the Catholic Church of doing, except on a much smaller, far less unified scale.
Don’t trust people that write or speak with loads of words. (I know that trick.)

I see something here that is supposedly a Protestant dogma. OSAS, which I believe stands for "Once Saved, Always Saved. "

The bible does not teach that at all.

It doesn’t.

The bible emphasizes, over and over, to protect your salvation. And to also look out for brothers and sisters in Christ on the same issue.

To say that that OSAS is largely Protestant dogma, is not quite right.

It’s dogma of churches that follow the general teachings of John Calvin. (Reformed and some Baptist.) Not all Protestant churches follow that specific teaching.

FIFTH COMMANDMENT from KJV
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Doesn’t this apply to Jesus to? Don’t you think he honored his mother and wants other to treat her with great respect.

Verb
Regard with great respect.

Synonyms
noun. honour - credit - respect - homage - dignity - glory

My friend, where is Mary right now?

Honor your own mother and also the elder women of the church.

And if you noticed…

…I never said one bad thing about Mary since I’ve been here.

To the Original Poster… Have you given any thought to talking to an actual Catholic priest and getting some info from the horse’s mouth? Just a suggestion…

“Providing you have an infallible interpreter since the Bible is the Infallible Word of God. Do you consider yourself to be an infallible interpreter of the Bible?”

I am not infallible, but the Word of the living God is … and it is possible for the follower of Jesus Christ to understand His written Word … no doubt about this
Thanks for the admission Literalist. Since you are not infallible when its comes to this matter, what if you and I disagree about the interpretation of certain Biblical passages? Who determines which if us has the correct interpretation?

In Heaven along with the rest of the Church Triumphant, beholding God face-to-face and praying for those of us here below that we might join them by God’s grace.
Honor your own mother and also the elder women of the church.
I try to do so.

Of course, my own mother is also in Heaven. I speak to her in my thoughts often, as I do Mary. Of course, I pray to God even more often, asking those ladies and others to join their prayers to mine.

The Church exists beyond this world and this life. I try to honor the wise and faithful women and men I know personally, and ask for their prayers when appropriate, but I see no contradiction in doing the same with those who have gone before us. Mary would surely be one of the oldest church ladies of all…

Mary is in Heaven with her son. She intercedes for us often, bringing our petitions to her son by praying for us.

We honour our mothers and the elder women of church. If there are any elder women of the Church to be honoured surely the Mother of Our Lord qualifies. Jesus honours his mother. We also honour Mary as Jesus’s mother.

Mary is the First Christian.
Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant.

Those (the doctrine I listed) are all Protestant/Reformed doctrines that are taken from the same belief in ‘Sola Scriptura’ (which is actually the acceptance of other’s interpretation of Scripture, and thus not actually ‘Sola Scriptura’), which I also refuted, as they come from the exact same line of reasoning (or rather, lack thereof).

OSAS did not come from the Catholic or Orthodox church…so the only source is a Protestant group.

Catholics worship Mary.

The Catholic Church teaches that worship (special devotion, veneration) given to Mary is different from worship (adoration) that is given to God. The Second Vatican Council’s document Lumen Gentium explains this, as does the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

.
Both Lumen Gentium and the Catechism uses the word venerate.
The Catechism does explain worship but it is always in regard to God 2096.
When the Catechism says Christian Worship it is in regard to how we worship God.
The language is not set in stone. It develops with usage. The word noon for instance meant nine and referred to 3 in the afternoon. Then of course there is that word gay. Just fifty years ago it had a entirely different meaning. We as Catholics have a different connotation to worship than others. However, when you are talking with those who have narrower meaning you go with their meaning.
NO the Catholic Church does not Worship Mary but venerates her as stated in the Catechism, Lumen Gentium and Canon Law.

I have a great deal of respect for Kempis, so I can understand the adoration of the saints. Yet, the Scripture is silent on Mary worship and I am curious why saints have felt the need to speak of her in such ways?

To me, Mary worship distracts from Jesus. Most would argue that through Mary, we look to Jesus but I would say to that: why not in Christ alone?

When you must ADD onto the Word, you find false doctrine.
All Marian doctrines can be proven to anyone. The question always rests with the listener who hears the evidence and whether or not he is willing to accept it. 😉

Where is Mary right now?

To be honest, like you I believe that she is in heaven as well. But, I don’t believe in the Assumption.

No.

I think she was a believer until her very last day on earth.

What’s wrong with that?

What’s wrong with that is that you are creating a faith that conforms to your own sensibilities.

Rather, shouldn’t what you be doing is conforming your beliefs to what was given once for all to the saints?
