In what places do Catholic schools receive government funding in the U.S. (I know they do in Canada) Here in Missouri we don’t, except in rare circumstances where a Catholic school will provide summer school classes to public school kids, and then they have to cover all the crucifixes and statues! NonCatholic kids know they’ll be going to Mass and religion class (they don’t receive any sacraments, obviously), there’s no “alternative curriculum”. (and they’re also allowed to refused admission to anyone they want, for whatever reason).

I also don’t know why they can’t find a liberal protestant school to send the kid to. And I find it laughable that anyone believes these women may be living chastely! They live together and describe themselves as “married”! They’re not claiming to be just roommates!

In Christ,

Ellen
Are the children turned away whose father has had a vasectomy or their mothers take birth control pills?

Nope, just the kids with Gay parents.

I guess the Catholic school isn’t too concerned that there aren’t many 10 children families amongst their population…

I just know people will say ’ the school couldn’t possibly know whose had a vasectomy or who takes birth control…

I call that willful blindness.
😛
Other than shouting it out at Mass, or on the street corner across from church that “I had a vasectomy, or I am taking birth control pills”, or talking to the pastor directly, the only other way a priest can know of such things from a member of his parish is if it is confessed to him in the confessional. The intent of confessing one’s sins is that one will amend their life . But, since there is the “Seal of the Confessional” wherein the priest cannot tell ANYONE what was confessed, I think it would be quite hard to get rid of all those using artificial contraception, or having surgery, to get rid of sperm.

If the mom had kept her gay life style quiet, she wouldn’t have had an issue. Now, if a mom shows up wearing her Ortho-Novum packets as earrings, or if dad starts showing off his vasectomy scar, they’re going to have issues as well.
👍👍:tiphat:

Keep the sins hidden and the Catholic school won’t care…gotcha. 👍
Thanks for re-affirming…hidden sins accepted, open sins not.
VetA;6634823:
first of all it seems that you are here not to learn, but to demean what you do not understand.

Well, start asking.

Why would a Catholic lie?

Yeah, but only one sin carries with it a penalty suffered by an 8 year old.
You are really having fun with this aren’t you? Keep going. Eventually you will hang yourself.

NEWS FLASH:

BOSTON—The head of education for the Boston Archdiocese offered Thursday to help find a different Catholic school for a boy denied acceptance at a Hingham Catholic school because his parents are gay.

In a statement, superintendent Mary Grassa O’Neill said the archdiocese doesn’t bar children of same-sex parents from attending Catholic schools, and that it will develop a policy in the coming weeks to make that clear. Terry Donilon, a spokesman for the archdiocese, said local pastors have autonomy to run their parishes within basic church rules, but the archdiocese can set new policy when something needs to be clarified – as in this case – and pastors are expected to follow it.

If this is the complete story, then what I said previously is true. The Boston Diocese is not conservative or orthodox. Are they Catholic with a capital C? Doesn’t sound like it in this article.

Regardless of the Bible quotes, the Child will now be permitted, with the Ok of the Church, to enroll in a Catholic School…Gay parents and all.
As you sow, so shall you reap. And don’t conclude this is a decision of the “Church” when it is the decision of a progressive liberal diocese.

That’s pretty cynical. I choose not to go through life thinking the worst of people.

I can think of a bunch of really, really good reasons why a parent would want their child to go to a Catholic school - even if the parent was of another religion, or agnostic, or gay (or all together!!!).

And I think my reasons are more likely than the conspiracy theories.

Pax,

Just wait. Bernadin’s Social Justice theology will soon come home to roost. My oh my, then what will the Boston Diocese do?

👍 I suspected the church would do the right thing 😃
So now, the Church has a positive reputation. Will miracles never cease. 🤷

The Bishop of the Boston diocese has said nothing ion the matter. The diocesan official who spoke to the media did not say that the bishop says that it’s OK for a lesbian “couple” to enrol “their” child in a Catholic school. He said that the diocese does not yet have a diocese-wide policy on the question and so it’s up to the discretion of each parish priest to rule on the matter for schools in his parish.
We should all fall on our knees for this DIRECT guidance.

From the article:

This is so wrong. The school mixes up the virtue of charity with tolerance and accepts all behaviour as virtuous, which is contrary to Catholic teachings.
Makes one want to bawl doesn’t it, or spit? This isn’t the Church I grew up in.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Boston doesn’t agree with you.
Zatzat, I think it was either you or Lynx stated in one of your posts that morality is a learned concept. Read this. I know you won’t think differently, but maybe with one of your open mind can at least say a “maybe”???

Babies know the difference between good and evil at six months, study reveals
by David Derbyshire 10 May 2010

At the age of six months babies can barely sit up - let along take their first tottering steps, crawl or talk.
But, according to psychologists, they have already developed a sense of moral code - and can tell the difference between good and evil.
An astonishing series of experiments is challenging the views of many psychologists and social scientists
Instead, they suggest that the difference between good and bad may be hardwired into the brain at birth.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Boston doesn’t agree with you.
Angels can’t puke, they are spirits and don’t have bodies.
God understands sin completely.
St Thomas Aquinas knew about genetics?
If people with mortal sin are dead as far as God is concerned, why did he send his Son to die for them? God hates sin but loves sinners (us).
Mortal sin, or any sin is of our choice. God does not withdraw from us, we withdraw from Him.

That is certainly your opinion. I would argue that since morals are different depending on your culture, that we are not instilled with morality at birth, rather it is a learned process.

You already know my position but i’ll say it again. Getting public money for a service, then discriminating against the public which pays you is tantamount to theft.

If it makes you feel any better I wish you could opt out. I wouldn’t want anyone paying for a service they didn’t want or need.
Read this: Maybe with your open mind you will be able to give this a maybe???

Okay, the “Catholic” teacher tells the children in her class that a “normal” family consists of a Mother and a Father. Mother=female Father = male??? Get it? And yes, to me it is a very great problem.
What of the single parent families, are they not normal enough for that teacher?

Just what is wrong with a teacher that goes out of his way to label, marginalize and alienate the students in his class that come from non traditional families?

How about this…first a secular explanation;

“If it wasn’t for us and IVF, you wouldn’t exist.”

( Surely you’re not suggesting that a child would choose non-existance over coming into existence via IVF?)

Then there’s the religious explanation they could give;

All life comes from God and God doesn’t make mistakes. So, if God didn’t want you to be born via IVF, you would not have been born. You were born, so God wanted you to be born!

Job 33:4
The Spirit of God has made me,
And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Jeremiah 1:5
“ Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Secular or religious explanations…problem solved.
So would you want a rape victim to say to her child, “If God didn’t want you to be born via rape, you would not have been born. So God approves of rape.” ?

Are you suggesting that God doesn’t have a role in deciding who becomes pregnant and who doesn’t become pregnant? Are you suggesting that your God is powerless and has no role in conception? Are you suggesting that God does not personally intervene in allowing women to conceive? Hmmm…are you sure we’re both talking about the Christian God?

Are you suggesting that God doesn’t approve of IVF? Then why does God allow souls to come into existence, via IVF? Surely, if your God didn’t want a soul to exist via IVF, then a soul wouldn’t come into existence via IVF?

Did you not read the quotes from your Holy Bible? Your God is apparently the author of all life.

Are you suggesting that in the eyes of God, IVF is the same as rape?

Your post is most puzzling.

To answer that we must disinguish between God’s positive will, and His permissive will. He positively wills all the good that happens.God is certainly good, and if He permits evil of any kind it is only because He knows that He can draw greater good from it in the end. Therefore some sin and evil He permits to occur, and this only when he foresees that good can result.

God does not will sin, but having made men free, He permits it and its consequences. This permission is a less serious thing than would be the depriving us of our freedom.

A child of IVF is the result of a process that is against Gods intent for procreation, but he allows it to occur as to do otherwise would take away our freewill to obey or disobey. We know the rules God has set for us as He founded and commisioned a Church to teach them. The child is not the guilty party in this as his/her freewill to choose never came into play and God loves them as He does all of us.

Man is a living being, endowed with a sensitive material body, and a spiritual soul which is immortal of its very nature, and which rejoices in the two spiritual faculties of intelligence and freewill. Our intelligence of our worldly environment leads us into having to make all kinds of ethical decisions, but often while we do we fail to consider the spiritual ramifications as we perceive the worldly ones as most important and immediately evident.

Just because we have the ability to do something doesn’t give us the moral licence to do so or spare us from the eventual consequences to ourselves and others.

I remember being in a third world country and there a few young girls approached making amorous advances as if they found me and old man very attractive. I asked my friend a priest about this and he said. They are not interested in you they are interested in Blackmail and they will have a grownup who they are working for who will try to blackmail you later if you became involved this is a common crime here in this country.

I report this because you must ask yourself a question what is the purpose of the lesbian couple in trying to place their child in the catholic school system. It may be that once accepted they can use their legal rights to try to force changes in the catholic system. As in my country where when non-catholic children protested having to see crucifixes in classrooms the government put pressure on the system and had them removed. There are many such things in my country that have happened because outsiders were allowed access. They then claim they are offended at hearing the catholic cathecism etc. Especially where we talk about sexual morality. They bring law suits against the church for alienating their normal child because of our belief in moral absolutes. This is a normal tactic of the enemies of the church. It follows normal demonic reason divide and conquer bring division, dispute, trouble, scandal etc.

I am glad and hope that the reason was they could see what the real reason behind the application was by now considering these things have been done already in other countries by members of the homosexual community.

I ask you, if God is simply a neutral observer into mans sinfully creating babies via IVF. If not by God, how then does man will a soul into existence through IVF?

Secondly, I wasn’t aware that the Church taught that IVF was a process that goes against Gods will.

Odd then that IVF works in bringing souls into existence.
