Take a look at this you tube video. It’s only a few minutes long and it’s of the closing Mass at Mahony’s Religious Conference in LA. Note the liturgical dancing, references to the altar servers as “auxillary bishops,” glass chalices and wicker baskets on the altar.

I wonder if the Pope will get to see this?

I can’t believe that people will get up on Sunday morning (or sacrifice their late Saturday afternoons) to attend this kind of stuff.

Be that as it may, to his credit, Cardinal Mahony has authorized several TLM in his diocese. But that’s all I’m going to say about him.

As far as the liturgical dancers, the Mass was over.

Then why call them *liturgical *dancers? They’re dancing during the “Recessional” or whatever you want to call that.

An auxiliary bishop is a bishop who helps usually an Archbishop in a large Archdiocese.

Liturgical dance is totally wrong and inappropriate. Dance was never used in the Latin Rite, and never will be. Dancing is highly sexual, and is not appropriate for the Mass.

The Church is God’s House and the Mass is to please God, not to please ourselves.

I would not feel right after attending that Mass. The whole dancing thing is a big turn off.

Glass Chalices are a no, no. Cardinal Arinze has said so.

And the wicker baskets can trap particles of the Sacred Host, contributing to the possibility of sacrilege.

I was at a mass with one ballerina dancing around, I didn’t like that, but I don’t think I could attend that.

Has anyone read Mother Angelica by Raymond Arroyo. Cardinal Mahony went after her very viciously. The Vatican declined to silence Mother Angelica because she had "the guts to tell him what we do not.: LOL

It is forbidden in the United States. I see you live in Singapore. Does anyone know if this rule applies there? Isn’t some forms of liturgical dance allowed in African countries?

In the Spirit of The Liturgy on page 198, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger says this:

Dancing is not a form of expression for the Christian liturgy. In about the third century, there was an attempt in certain Gnostic-Docetic circles to introduce it into the liturgy. For these people, the Crucifixion was only an appearance. . . . Dancing could take the place of the liturgy of the Cross, because, after all, the Cross was only an appearance. The cultic dances of the different religions have different purposes - incantation, imitative magic, mystical ecstasy - none of which is compatible with the essential purpose of the liturgy as the “reasonable sacrifice”. It is totally absurd to try to make the liturgy “attractive” by introducing dancing pantomimes (wherever possible performed by professional dance troupes), which frequently (and rightly, from the professionals’ point of view) end with applause. Wherever applause breaks out in the liturgy because of some human achievement, it is a sure sign that the essence of liturgy has totally disappeared and been replaced by a kind of religious entertainment. Such attraction fades quickly - it cannot compete in the market of leisure pursuits, incorporating as it increasingly does various forms of religious titillation.

I don’t think so. Just faithful Catholics who know they have a right to a holy and reverent Mass.

Do we really need one? What next, people ride in on horses or motorcycles, hold a circus.

People are forgetting where they are at. Instead of worshiping and pleasing God they are pleasing themselves. Let the Show Begin. This is no different than in the old Testament, they defiled the Temple too. Samething then is going on now.
This reminds me too of the old films, like “King of Kings” and “Moses”. Dancing was conducted around the Paraohs and the Golden Calf.
