Canada, Earth’s only super power. Here we go again. 🍿
:rotfl:
I thought I was the only that felt that way.

I have been pretty much around the world. I have seen many different bills.

Sorry, Canada isn’t that special. 🤷

Oh I will. I have never visted the US and (you’ll be pleased to know) have no desire nor intention to.
Why? You don’t like travel? The US and Canada are great destinations, and it might help broaden your knowledge of the world.

I love travel, and have lived all over Europe and travelled in Africa, the Far East and Asia. I plan to visit Canada when I get the opportunity.

And just who is the queen? How is she different from the Queen of Australia? Queen of England?

Don’t answer, it’s a rhetorical.
sigh, it’s useless trying to explain such intricate things to Americans anyways. Having 1 person occupy separate crowns is an old European tradition.
And this changes the fact that the Queen is on your currency…how?
But she’s not on all our currency, as stated.
We tried implementing the dollar coin at various times (Both silver and gold coins), but people didn’t like them.
No, it’s because you guys can’t made a decision on anything without practically calling a constitutional convention. All you had to do was withdraw the $1 bill when the coin was released like every other country who switched did. That’s what we did.

Whoa, put the claws away dude.

how did this thread go from talking about the horrible tragedy in Colorado to who is on who’s currency? Seriously?

I wish there was a way to prevent those with severe mental illnesses (which this killer may be found to have) from obtaining guns. But that would be impossible. Or at least make no guns available so easily on the Internet…anyone can get guns and there’s no way to know if they are law abiding or future criminals.

i’m for limited gun control…things like requiring safety courses, safety switches, background checks, etc.

Stick to the topic of the thread!

Intricate things…lick the ridiculousness of a hereditary monarchy? Yes, my feeble mind cannot grasp the depths of why one person, who has no real power or authority, gets to live in the ultimate lap of luxury, deserves to be honored in such a way simply because of who’s womb he or she came out of. 🤷

I just find it dubious that a supposed sovereign country honors someone from elsewhere to not only that degree.
But she’s not on all our currency, as stated.
No, she’s not. Just on one banknote and some coins like you mentioned.

Plus, that you guys also gave her power to strike down a law that she deems not fit.

If people have turned down the dollar coin numerous times in this country - as they have done with the half dollar - how is that people can’t make a decision?
All you had to do was withdraw the $1 bill when the coin was released like every other country who switched did. That’s what we did.
Then your original complaint shouldn’t be that people can’t make decisions, it’s that government hasn’t forced their decision on us.

It’s about tradition; it connects them to times when people ruled based on what womb they came from, and the hundreds of years when societies so ruled became great and formed awesome empires.

Here in the USA, where most of us reside in locales that were farmland or wilderness one human lifetime ago; popular attachment to centennial traditions is not part of our mind frame. It’s not good or bad; it’s just different. And difference, after all, is what makes the nations of the world, and makes international travel worthwhile.

Really? The Research Director for the Canadian Shooting Sports Association is an American? Well, a North American, so yes… 😛

I didn’t go to Harvard, so I guess I didn’t assume the gentleman wasn’t Canadian.
Oh! Director of Shooting! Oh! Not American! Oh! Sorry ! Such a BIG mistake !
After all he is the Director of Shooting ! Oh ! Canadian! Of course! Spotless Shooting!

No, sorry, it’s been part of Federal Law since 1934.

Very few contend that full auto weapons can’t be regulated, but thank you for the strawman. 🤷
2nd amendment again is above any Federal Law.
Very few contend, that is nothing. Laws are not made by very few or very many.

So just what are you arguing against, here? Full auto weapons have been highly restricted since 1934.
