LOL I tried to explain it to my sweetie using me, him, his younger brothers … You should have seen the look on his face. He said, “I don’t care if I’m dead, you still can’t have sex with my brother!” I said, “But in Tamar’s case, not having a child would have left her destitute.” He growled, “Well, fine. But JUST long enough to get you pregnant and he’d better not enjoy it!!!”
There is a lot of stuff in the bible, that if we lived it out we would be in serious trouble

I am seriously wondering where anyone gets the idea they know more than the Church, the “pillar and foundation of all truth” (1 Tim 3:15 NAB). Even if masturbation were not explicitly spelled out in the Holy Scruptures, Sacred Tradition has pronounced it. To pick and choose which doctrines to accept is to no longer be Catholic.
Most catholics are picking & choosing, make no mistake, there are very few really devout catholics, who Live the catholic religion to the letter

There is nothing morally indecent about masturbation. It is a perfectly healthy and normal act. Masturbation should not be condemned because in condemning it, you a condemning apart of yourself because being sexual is apart of being human. It is a personal decision and no religious dogma should make that decision for an individual, not even his wife, however it should be discussed.
The Church reflects natural laws…

these laws are “built into” human beings at conception… just like the law of gravity: you can argue with it and refuse to believe in it, but would you take your beliefs to the point of jumping out a 10 story building?.

When one is very intimate with God and commits a terrible sin like this one… s/he loses something of that intimacy… and the devil walks in… gleefully…

“without holiness it is impossible to please God”.

Sexuality is meant for committed marriage only. That is what God made it for. I’ve been celibate for many years… and it is not easy being chaste all the time… but it can be done… I’m proof and i am sure there are others out there who can say the same…

it is NOT natural except in maybe a physical sense… and that imperfectly…

& as you know, humans are more than physical beings…

so true… but i happen to be one of them…

Notice i didn’t say i was perfect… but the bible tells us to “be perfect as your father in Heaven is perfect.”

so at least i might make it to Purgatory… :o

This is really in the bible? May I know the book title and the chapter and verses for these? I find this hard to believe…
this is really strange because someone told me the same thing the other day… and i told him that i go to daily Mass all the time, have heard the bible a couple times over by now, yet have never heard of this…

suonds like the work of the devil and his followers… to say that some sin is better than another… Well, some sins obviously have worse consequences than others… but… I’d say these 2 are… well, seem to be about the same in level of seriousness…

the saints say that more people end up in Hell over sexual sin than any other… both of these are sexual sins…

not sure the Catholic Church would officially agree to this… but sounds good to me…

i get tired of people claiming to be Catholic who throw out what they don’t agree with in the Church’s doctrines/teachings…

as if they were as wise as the Church …

kind of arrogant… to say the least…

I’d like to say to J. Kerry, Pelosi, etc:

Who has been around longer, you or the Church?

(not that longevity alone proves things…but anyway…)

why do you say such a thing and then give no example?

i hate when people do that…
Read the bible for yourself, it contradicts itself, there are some terrible stories in the bible, could make one think if God is really a loving God. I dont say it But I have heard others say, If there is a God he is a terrible God

It is in the bible I forget what passage, a minister & myself were talking about it one time trying to decide what it means. I think its in the old testament

there are no serious contradictions and the not-so-serious seeming contradictions are just seeming contradictions…

in other words… the Bible does NOT contradict itself, it just seems to to those who don’t understand it… & there are plenty of those…

and i have read the Bible… I’ve had it read to me (as i follow along in the missal) all my life at Mass… & not just on Sunday…

so, it is up to you to provide given sciprtures that contradict…

It`s in there, ask your pastor, Look it up online

so far:

no proof…

and i have gone through the entire Bible a couple times over…

if i saw any serious contradictions, i would NOT be a Catholic… or even a Christian…

i don’t find any contradiction between a loving God and a just God. Only humans seem to think that God can’t really be both…

If God tells his children not to play with fire (sin) and they do… well… who’s fault is it if they get burnt?

everybody knows the bible contradicts itself, it came down from many generations written by man things were left out, ,each person translated it differently etc

even if weren’t for the Church, our own consciences tell us when we do soemthing wrong… When i sin, i feel incredible guilt… and t he desire to make the wrong right…

I have to say when i was younger and didn’t have the kind of faith i have now…didn’t have the relative intimacy with the Lord i now have… i didn’t feel as much guilt over my sins… but once one gets close to Jesus and the Father and his people (saints, his mother)… well, everything changes… Nowadays they would say this is a bad thing - inflicting guilt on people … but guilt is a good thing… or can be…

and NOT feeling guilty over wrongdoing is worse… could mean you have lost your soul…

Only Jesus can get it back again…

My pastor told me not to fool around with guilt, He told me Trust In God, no guilt

the only contradiction, as it were, that i know of is that the Catholic bible has 7 books in it that are not in the Protestant bibles… because M. Luther agreed with the sect of Jews that rejected those 7 books… and took them out… but that is not a contradiction… just a difference in Bibles…

Like i said… if there were any contradictions, i would NOT be Christian… I am too intelligent to fall for some belief system that… well, that doesn’t make logical sense…
