Accuse your enemy of what you are yourself - that’s one of the oldest tricks in the book.
I might be understanding what you’re saying. But I think like Sen McCain suggested, Americans just need to be aware and beware and definitely keep our eyes and ears and minds open and watch this guy very carefully and not allow him to get out of hand. Barring impeachment or an unexpected occurrance, we are stuck with him for a little less than 4 yrs now. We just need to be vigilant and hope our system of checks and balances keeps him reigned in.

Yet once again he peddled half-truths and lies. For example, his claim that he won by more electoral college votes than any president since Reagan… which as a reporter later pointed out to him was a complete and utter lie.
He didn’t push lies and half truths.

I don’t think Trump’s attacks on the media have anything to do with limiting free speech.
I agree. Trump’s unhinged attacks have no force of law, and are only serving to raise the interest in the very news organizations he attempts to condemn. CNN and the New York Times are doing better than ever.

The left wants a dictator. The left needs a dictator. The left cannot function without a dictator. The left has been begging for one for decades - thought it had its messiah in Obama - but he could only change the signs on the restrooms. Bernie burned out under the bus and Hill was just a hill of beans - speechless. Now that someone who opposes the left (generally) is in power and keeping promises, the left is suffering incontinence and crying “Dictator! The sky is falling!”

This is the greatest political revelation of our lifetimes.
Well sadi. 👍

Kudos to John McCain’s service to this country as a soldier. No one should take that honor away from him. He should have remained a soldier. he was a good one.

However, that was over 50 years ago and what he does now is not honorable. He is a terrible politician. He underminds the Republican party from within at any cost, and takes the attitude of sinking the ship to save it (save it, in his mind that is). He divides much further than Donald Trump, He eats inside the republican party like an ulcer, much worse than the democrats from the outside.

He at least is finally acknowledging he is a globalist with his “New World Order” ideas, which he has always had but now speaks of them more discreetly.

He told thousands of protesters in Kiev, Ukraine, that the United States will take “concrete action” against Ukraine’s government if it moves against the demonstrations during the orange revolution. He was a large instigator in the “Orange Revolution” in Ukraine further disrupting that government . The Ukraine has had even more serious issues since he was a part of this meddling.

He seems to never enter a country that he doesn’t feel we should place US troops within its borders or advise military intervention. Thankfully, he was never elected president or who knows what wars we would be in. When I hear John McCain’s name ,the advise is “do the opposite”.

Textbook example of an ad hominem attack.

Remember, Trump got to where he is by railing against most of the Republican establishment - an establishment that in no small part was built by MCain. Trump cannot turn around now and claim to be more of a Republican than McCain.

When a politician start behaving like that maybe it is time to retire and rest or become an elderly statesman.

Trump is not Pence. LOL

Media hostility towards him is not because of his personality or his demeanor. He is their antithesis - his policy and what he stands for.

Deliberate attempt to demonize him is part of what they can do to bring him down probably with 2020 in mind.
No, we’re past the point of mere demonization because of policy. Trump is just a blustering blowhard with a terrible temperament who is not suited to the office.

If media is suppressed, it’s not being done by calls of ‘fake news’ it would be being down by courts and legal systems and monopolies on media outlets, where several are owned by the same group to create the illusion. It’s done on the quiet.

The idea that President Trump is dictator like and suppressing free press is laughable considering how hostile they have been and still are to him. Is he not allowed to call out deceptive and biased reporting?

Clinton didn’t have to suppress media, because much of it was already in her back pocket. Which is why I think if we are looking for signs of dictatorship, Clinton would much more easily fit into that category simply because of how much of the media was toward her and her campaign.

I hope this has helped

👍 so very true!

If you read the article, Sen McCain made it a point to say he didn’t think DT is trying to be. But that we need to be aware because attempts to suppress the media can be a first step.
And why did the so called free press word the title of the article the way they did? The question isn’t about free press, it’s about fair press.

It clarified a lot.
Trump could avoid half of these accusations of him being a dictator if he simply had a bit more self-control and spoke calmly. He could learn a lot from Mike Pence.
You are dealing with two different personalities, two different people.

Come on now. John McCain is a veteran and former pow.

If he did not have a spine as you say I doubt he would have been in that plane that got shot down in Vietnam.

Trump has insulted every veteran in attacking John McCain. It’s appalling.

I hope you reconsider your claim.
I think John McCain is the one coming unhinged. I live in the state and have lived in this state for almost 40 years that McCain represents. I have never been impressed with him as a politician. I am aware he was a POW, but he has been a politician for a very long time and that doesn’t mean I have to like him. He is a big Washington politician, but I really can’t name anything great he has done in Arizona. No, I will not reconsider my claim. Just because someone was a POW does not give them a free pass on everything.

This is the man Patrick Buchanan said of “He’ll make Dick Cheney look like Gandhi”.

And why did the so called free press word the title of the article the way they did? The question isn’t about free press, it’s about fair press.
We have laws about fairness. They are quite narrow and hard to apply. And we have the free market that can also judge fairness. If Trump thought he could sue these media outlets he would. Therefore he is trying to influence the free market by convincing the public to distrust the media. We will know whether or not Trump has crossed into dictator status if he manages to leverage public opinion to do things by force of law that he could not do right now. But so far, all that Trump’s rants are doing is making him appear unhinged.

This has nothing to do with anything.
We wouldn’t have had 8 years of Obama so it has everything to do with it. If Obama had been defeated in 2008 we wouldn’t be in this mess. I voted for McCain in '08 holding my nose just like I did for his reelection last year because the democrat candidates were so terrible.

You can believe it and stand by it all you want and a lot of others might agree but that does not make it true. That is usually how Trump defends his untruth when challenged, “I don’t know. This is what I was told and a lot of people agree.” He himself peddled “fake” information. Even Spicer says of Trumps outlandish alternative facts, “These are long held beliefs.” That does not make them true.
