You donât think its hypocritical to give the media a pass for lying yet slam Trump for what you think are lies?Number 1, yes, Itâs a Muslim ban, just like Trump said it was on the campaign trail. Just how he asked Giuliani to help craft it. Trump proved it when he said he wanted to give priority to Christians. All in contravention of US Law (8 US Code 1152)
Number 2, reporters try to discern the facts and report on them. Yes, sometimes they are told incorrect things by people. It happens. Itâs not âfake newsâ. Someone lied to them. Breitbart, which makes things up, is fake news. Infowars is fake news.
Number 3, Trump lies to reporters much more often than other people do. But the kicker is, TRUMP OWNS THE FACTS heâs lying about. They are easily verified. He. just. lies.
This is my concern. And it is a growing concern to both the left and the right. Diligence is required not only by the press but by all of us.The best way to curtail the free press is to actively work to make them seem unbelievable. **Trump is gaslighting us **- making us believe that what the press reports isnât true.
Itâs much more effective than raiding newsrooms and stopping publication or halting news shows. They are still right there, but no one thinks they are telling the truth. Beloved Leader has convinced them that only he tells the truth (he doesnât).
The free press can fact check him minutes after he lies, and still his supporters blame the reporter, not the liar.
I completely agree with McCain for once. Dictators do shut down the press. A president who has newspapers shut down and journalist jailed is a dictator. Of course this has happened. Except it wasnât Trump it is secular saint and arch Republican Abe Lincoln who did this. Iâm sure McCain deeply admires Lincoln who did this and worse. I think McCain either didnât properly learn his history or actually likes dictators. Or most likely both. The AZ senator said, âIf you want to preserve â Iâm very serious now â if you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free and many times adversarial press. And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time. Thatâs how dictators get started.ââŚ
âThey get started by suppressing free press, in other words, a consolidation of power â when you look at history, the first thing that dictators do is shut down the press,â McCain said. âAnd Iâm not saying that President Trump is trying to be a dictator. Iâm just saying we need to learn the lessons of history.â
Donât you know? Everything Lincoln did is beyond criticism. The only ones who would dare question him must be secret slavery supporters!I completely agree with McCain for once. Trump is merely criticizing the press. The press arenât beyond criticism and are actually very worthy of it. They arenât truly adviserial. For the most part they support the state and its excessive powers. They repeat itâs lies as truth. This is how the big league reporters get their privileged position, inside sources, and scoops. If they make the government look bad they loose their privilege. So what Trump is criticizing is not an adversarial press but a lapdog press.
they are most definitely lapdogs. we saw that during the campaign and all the media behind Hillary to see she got elected.I completely agree with McCain for once. Dictators do shut down the press. Right - slant is the problem. The mainstream media outlets have ceased to be impartial. They are pushing a liberal agenda against Trump. I also think they created a âNazi blood-drinking Trump straw manâ during the campaign as part of a strategy to help elect Clinton, to take Trump out of the equation. The reality is that, while Trump is unpredictable, unconventional, impulsive, he is not, in fact, a blood-drinking Nazi. Say what they will, everything Trump has done so far (and very effectively under the circumstances), including the EO travel ban and the wall, has been part of mainstream American political dialogue and platforms (Republican and even Democrat at times) for over 40 years. The press cannot reconcile itself to or acknowledge this fact as it has gone so far out on the âTrump is a Naziâ limb. Maintaining this fiction has become a means of saving face, credibility, the main focus. They will lie and misinform to do this. Select and slant news stories. Another problem is that Trump is good at resisting and overcoming their attacks. This is frustrating to them.they are most definitely lapdogs. we saw that during the campaign and all the media behind Hillary to see she got elected.
Yeah, definitely a leftist lap dog this oneâŚâ Theodore RooseveltThe President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public**.** Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else.

Trump has been very successful convincing people that the âlegitimateâ press and the âfake newsâ press are the same. They are not.You donât think its hypocritical to give the media a pass for lying yet slam Trump for what you think are lies?
Iâm old enough to remember that the fake press started way before when they hid JFKs medical problems and almost promiscuous behavior with women. Then when the Viet Nam war began protestors were glorified, Jane Fonda, esoecially , but they were very quiet about the persecutions, tortures and atrocities that the North Vietnsmese inflicted on the South Vietnsmese civilians, especially Catholics. Some of this occurred when John McCsin was a POW. But all this ended when Watergate began. Now itâs not objective news, but slanted. A good book to read is Bias by Bernie Goldberg, who used to work at CBS, and is by no means a Trump supporter. McCain should remember that the news idolized Jane, and thus caused further suffering for the POWs. That was far worse than now.Come on now. John McCain is a veteran and former pow.
If he did not have a spine as you say I doubt he would have been in that plane that got shot down in Vietnam.
Trump has insulted every veteran in attacking John McCain. Itâs appalling.
I hope you reconsider your claim.

The National Enquirer is fake news. CNN is not. Breitbart is fake news. Fox News is not.
Once again, let me remind you. News organizations try to discern the truth and report on it. Trump knows the truth and purposely lies.
And, let me address one purported media lie - that someone died trying to get into the country. The press reported that someone was claiming this happened. That is a fact, not a lie; someone was saying that. THEY WERE LYING, not the press. The press did a little checking and ran the story. They were lied to. They did not lie.
Not when a fact check shows heâs lyingâŚYou donât think its hypocritical to give the media a pass for lying yet slam Trump for what you think are lies?
You should get paid for the consistent damage control you do for Trump, seriously youâre doing Kellyannes job. Not sure why you insist on defending buffoonery and incompetence. You donât think its hypocritical to give the media a pass for lying yet slam Trump for what you think are lies?
Anyone is welcome to their opinion on his performance as senator.I think John McCain is the one coming unhinged. I live in the state and have lived in this state for almost 40 years that McCain represents. I have never been impressed with him as a politician. I am aware he was a POW, but he has been a politician for a very long time and that doesnât mean I have to like him. He is a big Washington politician, but I really canât name anything great he has done in Arizona. No, I will not reconsider my claim. Just because someone was a POW does not give them a free pass on everything.
Iâm starting to conclude for the most devoted followers of Donald Trump, nothing âis a bit muchâ when in defense of Donald Trump. That he may indeed have spoken truth when he said he could even stand in the middle of NYCâs Fifth Ave and shoot someone and he still wouldnât lose support.Anyone is welcome to their opinion on his performance as senator.
I just think calling a veteran spineless is a bit much. Especially one who served in an era when men were fleeing to Canada to dodge the draft.
Itâs like a cult honestly.Iâm starting to conclude for the most devoted followers of Donald Trump, nothing âis a bit muchâ when in defense of Donald Trump. That he may indeed have spoken truth when he said he could even stand in the middle of NYCâs Fifth Ave and shoot someone and he still wouldnât lose support.
That is true with most people who strongly support their candidate. And they will stick with him or her throughout the toughest of times. We see it with all politicians with strong followings. Happens with film stars as well.Itâs like a cult honestly.
I disagree. McCain wouldnât have made the remark at all if he wasnât implying that Trump is behaving in the same way dictators do by suppressing the free press. And I partially agree with him since I think Trump, if not a dictator, has an authoritarian personality. If you read the article, Sen McCain made it a point to say he didnât think DT is trying to be. But that we need to be aware because attempts to suppress the media can be a first step.
notice it says to tell the TRUTH! that is exactly what is being questioned in todayâs media. why should I believe the media when I know it is out to destroy him?Hereâs a very poignant and relevant quote from someone youâll all recognize as one of your âleftistsâ.Yeah, definitely a leftist lap dog this oneâŚâ Theodore Roosevelt
