(CNN)Sen. John McCain slammed President Donald Trump’s attacks on the media this week by noting dictators “get started by suppressing free press.”
When the press was in the tank for Hillary, and refused to see anything wrong with all her deficits, I would suggest THAT is not a free press.

What we are seeing now is NOT just adversarial attacks, but a war of ideology, left vs right…

As scripture teaches

A wise man’s heart inclines him toward the right, but a fool’s heart toward the left. [Ecc 10:2]

The press is not just left, many are far left.
Sy:
The 2008 Republican presidential nominee said Americans must pay attention to history to understand the past connections between leaders of oppressive governments and efforts to stifle the media.
We heard 100% from the media, all through the campaign and through the election. And they were 100% wrong.

Then the people spoke.

notice it says to tell the TRUTH! that is exactly what is being questioned in today’s media. why should I believe the media when I know it is out to destroy him?
Oh and you know this how? Where has the mainline media made any such statement? What’s that you say? They haven’t! Well then there is a huge difference between skepticism and listening to your boy proclaim the media s “the enemy of the American people” which is exactly what he did. Why give him a pass on that? **“We have to put a stop to the idea that it is a part of everybody’s civil rights to say whatever he pleases.” **–Adolf Hitler
Transcript of a conversation (22 February 1942)
being a spineless politician does not equate to being spineless in the line of military duty does it?
McCain was never spineless,. I would say that the rest of those running were far more noble and unwilling to BS the American people the way Trump did. C’mon, explain and defend Trumps lying polemic. “I saw thousands and thousands of Muslims in New Jersey cheering the collapse of the twin towers on 9/11". We know that never happened. yet Trump has never recanted or corrected himself. Can you explain to us how that gets a pass? I doubt it. but hey, he’s not the first… “The art of leadership. . . consists in consolidating the attention of the people against a single adversary and taking care that nothing will split up that attention. . . .”-Adolf Hitler

“The leader of genius must have the ability to make different opponents appear as if they belonged to one category.”-Adolf Hitler
and Hillary and Bernie did not have their fans?

the media certainly helps to hype these candidates.

this is the lamest argument yet. I guess y’all are running out of ideas.
you repeat the same arguments over and over again.
Hello kettle, this pot calling…you’re black. And this is irrelevant…
Trump isn’t suppressing the free press. Suppression would be to outlaw them, and he certainly isn’t doing that.
Okay Gilliam, then do you agree that the media is the enemy of the American people just as Trump has stated?
Your post is an example of the problem. You merely pronounce your verdict “… biased and very deceptive …” This might be convincing if you were to cite something specific and make a case.

PS I have watched and read.
👍 Me too, and only a fool believes everything heard and seen, but when facts are verified and they are proved to be lies then honesty and integrity demands accountability. And that come straight from the terrible left wing president Theodore Roosevelt.
The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else.

Really? You never heard criticism of Hillary? Power outage?
We heard 100% from the media, all through the campaign and through the election. And they were 100% wrong.

McCain seems to be somewhat ignorant of history, as do many of the posters. Dictators get started by using violence to advance their political program, like the “Beer Hall Putsch”, the burning of the Reichstag, or the storming of the Bastille, or the November Revolution, or any number of other examples. It is not Trump and his supporters that are engaging in violence, it is Trump opponents who are.
Speaking of ignorant of history…It seems you are when it comes to the quite obvious similarities of thinking and philosophy between Hitler and your boy Trump. Let’s have a look.

First…his remarks about Muslims and Mexicans which are both rash generalizations. note who else used that tactic.
“In the north and in the south the poison of foreign races was eating into the body of our people,”- Hitler, Adolf. Mein Kampf

“The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.” -Adolf Hitler

“The leader of genius must have the ability to make different opponents appear as if they belonged to one category.”-Adolf Hitler

Then let’s look at the similarity of their propaganda philosophy.
“I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big for themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it ‘truthful hyperbole’. It’s an innocent form of exaggeration, and a very effective form of promotion.” - - “The Art of the Deal,” Donald Trump

"All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself
to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach."
- - “Mein Kampf,” Adolf Hitler

Oh and IIRC Hitler also paid instigators to infiltrate and commit violence to kick things off…and whose supporters were punching people in his rallies? but he gets a pass on this?http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h244/corona_stellarum/Smilies/bf-wakeupyelll.gif

The rise of anti-Semitic and anti-Islamic violence that has sharply increased? That’s a direct consequence of his language.
👍
**“What a man believes may be ascertained, not from his creed, but from the assumptions on which he habitually acts.” **- George Bernard Shaw
The “Beer Hall Putsch” was only an early example of the Nazis penchant for political violence, it wasn’t the only one.
Like I said, whose supporters punched people in his rallies?

So do you think Trump has read and absorbed some of the teachings of Mein Kampf?

I admit there may be certain comparisons in thinking and philosophy. However, do you really believe Trump in his heart and mind is another Hitler? I seriously doubt this. I would wager that entrepreneurs of all political stripes think a little like Trump does and engage the public in a similar manner. The art of persuasion and propaganda is not unique to either Trump or Hitler. True, Trump seems to be no friend to Muslims or Mexicans and other undocumented immigrants, but this does not mean he is comparable in either mind or behavior to Hitler.

What language?

This is from a recent Washington Post article, 'Is anti-Semitism truly on the rise in the U.S.? It’s not so clear. ’
But it is not clear that we can accuse the president of ushering in a new era of heightened anti-Semitism. While there is real anti-Semitism, we have no reliable statistics available to show there’s been a rise in anti-Semitism since Trump’s election.

Via Pew, FBI info shows there has been an increase in anti Muslim ‘assaults’ in 2015: pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/11/21/anti-muslim-assaults-reach-911-era-levels-fbi-data-show/

From 2016, anti Semitic happenings have risen to record levels in the U.K.:jewishnews.timesofisrael.com/cst-report-2016/

Hate crimes against Muslims have also increased in Wales and England: google.co.uk/amp/www.theweek.co.uk/amp/uk-news/59333/anti-muslim-hate-crimes-increase-in-england-and-wales?client=safari

Sounds like the Hate Speech laws I have been talking about, the protests and riots at University campuses and exactly the sort of thing Clinton would incite.

Like ‘Hate Speech’ ‘Racism’ ‘Anti Women’ ‘White Supremacist’ ‘Love Trumps Hate’ ‘Anti Semitism’ Trump somehow became the single embodiment of all those things.

Sounds like Planned Parenthood and their sale of organs/body parts. Sounds like ‘Pro-Choice’ ‘Love Wins’ ‘Love Trumps Hate’ etc etc.

lol the irony. The key word is in ‘HIS’ rallies, Trump supporters did not go to Clinton rallies to disrupt them and start violence, on the contrary, Clinton supporters went to Trump rallies to disrupt them and incite violence.

Game…set…match.

Yes, you have been talking about stuff, but when asked for specifics … crickets.

We heard 100% from the media, all through the campaign and through the election. And they were 100% wrong.

Then the people spoke.
How many times do we have to keep going over this?

Yes the people spoke and 54% spoke against Donald Trump as the media more or less predicted the popular vote to be. And being wrong in a few states such as PA, MI, and WI out of 50 states, hardly constitutes being 100% wrong. But feel free to keep believing that. Democrats believed they had a lock on the EC too. Don’t get too overconfident with 1% wins in a few states. Pendulums swing.

You’re right! 👍
May as well give up. These fanatics aren’t listening and haven’t been for a long time.

They have forgotten history and we all will get to repeat it.

They have forgotten the “leftist” founding fathers like Jefferson, Paine, Franklin, and even Teddy Roosevelt (None of whom they apparently have read.) so we may as well just sit back and prepare and when it goes sideways…and it will, then maybe we can try to retake our nation from the tyranny the same way our founding fathers did.

You hear and hear but do not understand; you see and see but do perceive.

The real problem is that the dominant news media has thrown away their credibility. Trump supporters have good reason for distrusting them.
Exactly. They would rather see foreign networks to scourge for news as they cannot trust the mainstream media. Too bad but until they come up with objective truthful reporting, they are just garbage.

  1. Just so we can understand, if inferring a party is like the Nazis is uncharitable here, is describing a party as the party of death not uncharitable on CAF?

This is what Senator Rand Paul had to say shown in this video clip from ‘This Week’ in regards to a question from the host about a ‘dictatorship’ and Senator John McCain: twitter.com/abcpolitics/status/833321139191492608
Thank you Sen. Rand Paul. He nails John McCain on the foreign policy issue, and thank you for sticking up for the president. Glad to see someone in politics spells out where McCain really is or foreign policy issues. Rand Paul would have been my first choice as president, but we have Trump, so we need to try to support him as best as we can, . one difference that separates Paul from McCain is that although Paul had confrontations with Trump during the primaries and they have their differences now, he is smart enough to realize Trump is president and he recognizes him as such. He also sees that to save the Republican party members of congress need to work with the president, not to destroy the party with in-fighting.

John McCain had the opportunity to do things his way, but failed miserably. HE was the Republican presidential nominee, for goodness sake.

Sarah Palin was the ONLY memorable aspect of John McCain’s run for president; she was his selection for vice president.

Just so we can understand, if inferring a party is like the Nazis is uncharitable here, is describing a party as the party of death not uncharitable on CAF?
I would like an answer to that, as well.
