She is a member of Congress. She DOES KNOW BETTER and should suck it up and take responsibility for what she did. She needs to act like the mature adult here. What kind of example is she setting here?

If she gets a pass here, God help our country.

She does know better. She was without her ID, and refused to stop when requested to do so three times. She then took a swing at a cop.

When I was a Scout leader, I told my scouts essentially to obey the police. If they tell you to stop – you stop. If they tell you to lie down – you lie down. If there really is a case of mistaken identity or other problem, it can always be sorted out. Striking a cop; running away, etc. is NEVER a good move – and in certain instances, it’s a really good way to get shot.

Rep. McKinney is so radically far “out there” that she makes many liberals look conservative. In my opinion, she’s an irresponsible demagogue.

Blessings,

Hey if Nancy Pelosi won’t talk to you then you know things are not all good…

thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/040406/news4.html
She and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) no longer speak, not even to exchange greetings when encountering each other in the Capitol hallways, said two House Democratic sources. Pelosi twice turned down McKinney’s request to regain her seniority after she was defeated and then reelected in 2002 and 2004. McKinney first came to Congress in 1992.

" Two House members will introduce tomorrow a resolution to commend the U.S. Capitol Police department, which Rep. Cynthia A. McKinney accused last week of racial profiling."

The officer was doing what he was trained for. To protect the congress and it’s members. Too bad it’s members can’t respect them…

My best friend was a US Capitol Police Officer for nine years. Most of these officers have good relationships with Senators and Representatives from both parties.

McKinney knew the rules - show your ID. Anyone entering a federal building has to show and ID and have a reason for being there. McKinney thinks she is above the rules and everything is always about race.

Is she relation to Jesse Jackson? He plays the race card at the drop of a hat. This attitude really gets old after a while.

With that said, I would not vote for such a person. That is beside the point. More importantly, she needs prayers and help.
I could agree with this, Hildebrand, but that’s about all.

Capitol Police Chief Denies Racism Charge

breitbart.com/news/2006/04/05/D8GPRPI8F.html

U. S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer said Wednesday that Rep. Cynthia McKinney turned an officer’s failure to recognize her into a criminal matter when she failed to stop at his request, and then struck him.

"He reached out and grabbed her and she turned around and hit him," Gainer said on CNN. “Even the high and the haughty should be able to stop and say, ‘I’m a congressman’ and then everybody moves on.” EXACTLY!!!

ALSO

foxnews.com/story/0,2933,190695,00.html
Gainer rejected the idea that the incident is one of racial profiling. He said the police had all they need to arrest McKinney last Wednesday at the time of the incident, but police passed the information to the U.S. attorney’s office so they could look at the evidence and build a case.

“There would be no reason to go to the U.S. Attorney’s office if we didn’t want to have an arrest,” Gainer said. “I’m troubled by all the economics going into this, and the U.S. Attorney’s office here has a lot of other crimes to look at … But on the other hand, the member’s not acknowledging at all that what she did was incorrect and now she’s putting up the smoke and mirrors that we’re racist and it was done because she’s black, that’s wrong.”.

“What I would say, however, is that (this is) much ado about a hairdo,” McKinney told FOX News, saying that the officer should be able to recognize every congressional member. (A police office should be able to identify everyone??? Hello they screen something like 30,000 people a day…I graduated with 500 people and i run into people and I still don’t know who they are…Give me a break!)

I really hate to say this, but I’ll make an exception this time: typical liberal b.s., when you’ve done something wrong and won’t admit it, play the race card.**

Ditto. Democratic congressmen and women, black leaders, and blacks in general should denounce her behavior. Crying racism when none exists is to cry wolf–and when genuine racism occurs, many may say “there they go again.”

She’s spitting on someone who is literally risking his life to protect her, for simply doing his job.

IMO, any member of congress that can’t respect and obey the security procedures to enter the building, NEEDS to be voted out of office. She has no right to be there. Her behavior is inexcusable for a public official.

the last time I was in DC I noted, that logically enough given the district’s population, almost all the city and capitol police force was African-American, so is the congresswoman citing black-on-black racism? I am white, and have been invconvencienced to the point of harrassment by security measures at airports and public places, and cannot play the race card, so what is my recourse if I consider myself a Very Import Person? nada

Looks that way. Although, I think the policeman that stopped her was white…at least, he is if it’s the guy I saw them show on TV…an older man in his 50s.

It’s all a bunch of nonsense and she knows it.

SheFINALLY apologizes!

WASHINGTON - Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., expressed “sincere regret” Thursday for her altercation with a Capitol police officer, and offered an apology to the House.

“There should not have been any physical contact in this incident,” McKinney said in brief remarks on the House floor. “I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation and I apologize.”

McKinney’s comments came after the case had been referred to a federal grand jury for possible prosecution.

She had previously insisted she had done nothing wrong, and accused police of “racial profiling.” She is African-American and the police officer is white.

McKinney, 51, has a history of confrontations with officers

Anyone else notice she waited to say sorry until it looks like her screaming about race has done nothing to stop the police from taking action legally against her?

Boy, she must be buddies with John Kerry. Talk about flip-floping.

I just saw her in an interview yesterday, she didn’t sound very sorry to me. That was an awful fast flop.

Where’s her apology to the police officer for pulling out the race card?

Yeah, I find very hilarious that it took the case going to a grand jury before she would apologize.

I’m wondering what exactly is she apologizing for?

The fact that she hit a police officer, or that the police officer grabbed her after she didn’t stop.

Exactly…it’s an 'I didn’t think they would actually go this far" apology. But, better than none at all.

Better to not apologize if you don’t mean it rather than giving a forced apology.

Perhaps…but it makes for interesting political viewing. On most days it’s not much better than a 3 ring circus up there. 🙂 I get your point though and in the real world, agree. Politics ,however, is not the real world; it’s all smoke and mirrors, and positioning. And you would be surprised how many people will swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

Oh, I know. I play politics in my profession all the time, but fortunately no where near the level they do in Washington!
