With Election Day two weeks in the rear view mirror, I find it alarming that the idea of recounts are just simply being dismissed out of hand?
Claiming “no proof”?
The proof is the recount.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect some kind of evidence to be shown before going to the time & expense of a recount. Otherwise, anyone could hold up every single election in the country just by demanding a recount because their candidate didn’t win.

The word “chaos” doesn’t even come close to describing what we’d have then.

Well, like I said upthread, if this had been a normal four years without the press losing its spit every day, it would be easier to believe what they tell us.

Our information systems are so broken and our nation so divided, it’s really hard to know what to believe anymore.

But hey, I’m not a decision maker, I’ll let the rest of the folks have at it.

But nobody gets to act surprised at what’s going on. Or play innocent.

I think I’ll take the local and state elections administrators and the department of homeland security officials, who issued a joint statement that this was the most secure election in our history, over the likes of Rudy Guiliani and fringe news outfits/political provocateurs.

Well, I think the rules of evidence are much laxer in the court of public opinion. That’s why the Trump team seems to be focusing there.

The places where they enforce real rules of evidence are throwing Trump suits out left and right.

Right now, the Trump campaign is working on the court of public opinion but not providing evidence in a court of law. I would be happy to look at any evidence, if any is presented to a court.

You say you are OK with them not presenting the evidence, but why would they not? They have already lost a bunch of cases, abandoned others. Why not provide the evidence in court?

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.

The default is that the election was free and fair. It is up to a challenging party (Trump) to prove that it was not.

So, where’s the proof? All there are are a bunch of allegations that wither up and blow away under the scrutiny of a judge.

When do you suppose the time will come? The results are getting certified as we speak, and the electors vote in a couple weeks, so now would probably be a good time.

One thing President Trump is uncovering is the corruption that exists in our government which has gotten so rotten, it could not be allowed to be ignored any longer. For that one reason I believe God had a hand in him being elected 4 years ago.

No other republican would have stood up to the democrats the last 4 years as they attempted to kick him out of office and overthrow the presidency.

The election was their last desperate chance to get rid of him.

I can"t predict what will happen now, but I can already predict what the liberal media will be saying over their
airways.

Our government needs to be cleaned up along with the media.

Okay, I will wait for Giuliani to present his secret evidence. But in the meantime, can we get the ascertainment process going so that President-Elect Biden’s transition team can work with the current government so that they are ready to deal with this pandemic that is killing almost 2,000 people a day (and shows no signs of slowing down)? One could argue that’s the pro-life thing to do.

If God has the final word, then I am certain Biden will be the next president.

As to the court cases, they don’t happen overnight, but they don’t happen at all if the party seeking relief does not actually bring their case forward. If they have a case, they need to bring it.

Courts have deadlines. They don’t want perpetual stalling.

This is stalling.

Yes, that’s great news but there’s a good chance the rollout will take place under a Biden administration (and I think it was a drug company that developed it, not President Trump). So it would be optimal if the new administration were ready to go with that as soon as he’s sworn in, would it not - it might even save lives but that is being held up until the Government Services Administration can move forward with ascertainment.

My broader point though is that Trump can concede and if his lawsuits turn up massive voter fraud that will overturn the election, he will be declared the winner. Conceding doesn’t change that.
