Someone else had consistently attacked McCain, even had a rally while he was lying in state and didn’t even mention him.

A Republican rally.

May John McCain Rest In Peace. May his family be comforted.

I am especially disgusted by the number of “stars” who eloquently praised Sen. McCain, but just a year ago were calling him “racist.” Hypocrites. Liars. Posers.
What is the number of such stars. Can you name a few and documents their hypocrisy?

John McCain got the funeral he wanted, by inviting the people to eulogize him and by talking to them beforehand.

As one person wrote, either in an article or on Twitter, it was the largest meeting of the resistance to date. So, what did people expect?

I haven’t posted here in a while because I’ve heard everyone’s point of view and, on a Catholic forum, support for a serial adulterer who has been divorced multiple times, respects no one and is a truly terrible person is just depressing. It’s more depressing than the sex abuse scandal because it comes from my fellow lay members of the Church.

Assumption…Trump is probably not even thinking of dying, he’s probably planning his next election win. Trump has moved on, seems like the liberals still haven’t. Keep pounding your drum with this nonsense.

I think it is sickening that Sen. McCain had so little respect for the OFFICE of the President of the United States that he would not invite him to the funeral.
I think it’s sickening that Trump had so little respect for a veteran that he denigrated him for being captured in a combat zone in a war that was brutal on our veterans.

Let’s not pretend Trump is a little innocent angel who was denied his birthright of being at the funeral of a man he never slighted in any way, shape, or form. Had Trump shown up, it would’ve been distressing for the family to have a man who publicly denigrated their father for his [McCain’s] character. Not to mention the very real possibility that he would’ve disrespected him at his own funeral.

Forgiveness only takes one person. Making amends requires two.

I like Presidents who weren’t named as conspirators in felony indictments.

He has moved on from McCain, that’s what we were talking about, wasn’t it?

No, I’m saying you are making assumptions that he’s planning his funeral…

Actually, one can be accused of slander on public forums in addition to libel, look it up. Whatever though…

Wait.

So the only reason a person would vote for Trump in the 2016 election is because they weren’t “classy”?

SMH
No. Never said that was the “only” reason. There were many reasons folks voted for Trump:
  1. They loathed Hillary and/or the Clintons in general. (Legit reason; she’s pro-abortion, with a sense of entitlement, among other things.)
  2. They were pro-life, especially in the “anti-abortion” sense of the phrase.
  3. They would never vote for any Democrat.
  4. They couldn’t stand Obama and Obamacare.
  5. They were fiscally conservative and thought a businessman could fix things.
  6. They wanted to “shake things up” and admired Trump’s “in-your-face”, “drain the swamp” attitude.
  7. They liked his plan to “build the wall.”
  8. They secretly shared some of Trump’s worst prejudices and attitudes and felt he legitimized them.
  9. They agreed with some of his policies and hoped that he would start to act “presidential” once in office, and that his advisors would influence him for the better.
Those are the first things that come to mind - there may be others. Some of them are understandable reasons for voting for a candidate, some (#8, particularly) are ugly.

By now, it’s clear that he will never act with dignity or decorum, is not remotely “presidential”, has demonstrated racist attitudes (goes back a long time), doesn’t understand economics, has increased the debt, lies at will, and does what he wants, no matter what advisors say. When you add in the fact that so many of the people he surrounds himself with are shady/guilty/self-promoters, it is astonishing that any decent, thoughtful, moral human being can still support him.

Actually, one can be accused of slander on public forums in addition to libel, look it up. Whatever though…
Uhm, no, one would be accused of “defamation” for the libel they wrote.

But, as you said, whatever. You can’t defame someone whose own words and actions result in him having absolutely no positive reputation at all. Even if he wasn’t a public figure. Even if it wasn’t true.

It was a statement of fact. If you want to be offended, that’s on you.
What was a statement of fact?

McCain divorced his disfigured wife and married a very wealthy younger woman with whom he had been having an affair. So committing adultery and divorcing just one wife makes you a hero? Two makes you a scoundrel? Maybe there are no heroes.

Yep. I find both very depressing. It’s hard to be Catholic and to stay Catholic. But I try 😞.

I wasn’t sure for a long time if I should or should not vote for trump. I voted against him at the primary. I wrote in the solidarity party candidate at the presidential election.

Things that should be condemned are not. They are excused.

You are correct that is troubling and should be be overlooked.

However, It’s not a lifelong history of treating people with no respect and boasting of sexual assault.

Who boasted of sexual assault?

McCain also had history of not treating people with respect. He had a notoriously bad temper. Again, there may be no heroes. So I don’t get the point of brining Trump up. That seems like rank partisanship.
