For your understanding, of course they are not both the same thing, but the Church teaches that left unrepentent in mortal sin, both these sins can end one up in eternal damnation. I really have a hard time understanding why a Catholic would not take up arms against sin in general, and wanton and grave sin specifically.
Osama Bin Laden is also living for and out of Koran.’
ummmm…Thanks??

in your scientific exploration of male habits, do not be judgemental, or condecending, be compassionate and professional.I am shocked after reading the previous threads in the forum. I assume a great number of you are Catholic too. Do men really need to masturbate? What will happen if you dont. Is this a must? Do you have to do it because you saw a pretty girl, or are you thinking of your wives? Where is your family when this goes on? Is this part of your daily routine or is this rare. I didnt think my husband would do this until I read the threads from other Catholic men. Also, do your wives know?
The gospel calls belivers to decisively break with sin, not to accommodate sin, and to strive “for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.” Catholics shopuld be repulsed by the stench of sin, whether venial or grave, our own or of those we care about.in your scientific exploration of male habits, do not be judgemental, or condecending, be compassionate and professional.
Women: keep in mind, you are not a man, and remember this is really just a problem tied to lust, which many women suffer from as well
Men who don’t : YOU are the minority, and the stuggle if very real, so the above statement applies to you as well.
Why is this question always exclusive to men.Although I find it uncomfortable as well to see all these threads about masturbation…but it’s all about you guys! Is it that Catholic woman just don’t talk about it, or they just don’t do it, or have the problem. As a woman I struggle as well, especially after losing my husband. It’s hard to admit, but there you have it. it does not just go away For the most part I’ve learned to live with it as any addiction and that I know that there are steps I have to take everyday to keep my chastity. You have to work at it.in your scientific exploration of male habits, do not be judgemental, or condecending, be compassionate and professional.

Then let us thank God that the Bible teaches love, even love of our enemies.Osama Bin Laden is also living for and out of Koran.

Are you going to say Koran isn"t teaching love. And we have extremists in Catholic church as they are in Muslim countries. Isn"t it? And all about extremism is possibile to measure. On long way distance. Even Presidents of most copuntries are been measured. Bush, Clinton, Hussein, Kohl, Milosevic +++++Then let us thank God that the Bible teaches love, even love of our enemies.

you compared the people here to Osama bin ladin, I pointed out a difference between us and Osama bin Ladin. We are taught to love our enemies, and do good to those who hate us. He has been taught to fight the infidel where he finds him. There is a difference. Thankfully, most of Islam does not find the same things in the Koran as he does. Are you going to say Koran isn"t teaching love. Agrree. This is out of topic. But I wouldn"t start new topic. I know well what reason is.andres08
This is getting off topic. Perhaps you should start a new thread on these Catholic extremist and what they wish to accomplish.
p.s.- I believe that there is no such thing as a Catholic Extremist, For in the words of Aquinas “In the middle is the virtue.”

I hope some guys answer you here but having now reached the point of life that some people kindly refer to as “seasoned” I can say that in my youth, I too was harassed by imaginary sexual visions and fantasies (who isn’t?).Hello to all.
First I would like to point out sexual fantasies and then I would like to ask an honest question to guys who have successfully mastered this addiction and are unmarried.
Sexual fantasies i.e. lustful thoughts are in my opinion the cause of this addicting habit, while the act of masturbation itself is just the symptom. I would like to cure the cause, rather then “cold turkey” to stop the symptom. The “cold turkey” method just proved to not work so many times, usually after 5 or more days of abstinence. While restoring my Catholic faith for a few months now, I discovered the blessing of prayer to God and blessing of Rosary. Surely I will continue to put my trust into prayer and confession (I’m still collecting courage for first confession after 5 years). Here goes the question:
Did you become asexual after stopping masturbation, i.e. did you loose interest into mating women, and do you have still sexual fantasies. How can you advance from phase “just knowing a female friend” into phase “I would like to marry her”, without considering any sexual fantasy of her.
Namely my fear is that if I eventually will be able to stop sexual fantasies, in that moment I will also loose interest in women. What is your experience? Have you lost interest into women? Is my fear valid?
Now, it is quiet probable that I am just so well brainwashed by our sexual explicit society, from the newspaper, TV, magazine, movies to well dressed women on the street, that I just am not able to see the alternative. Is an alternative style of life even possible in our sexual explicit society? do I have to become a monk with limited contact with outside world? (At least this seems also as an acceptable solution)

I’m 100% sure. I believe what the Church says. I don’t doubt that it’s a sin any more than I doubt adultery is a sin. Sex is pleasurable whether in marriage, whether solo, whether out of marriage… but only married sex is holy. Anything outside of sex with your spouse is a sin.And even if it does not deal with the doubting of God, it deals with the doubting of the sinfullness of masterbation since we are not 100% sure.
