I will ALWAYS support The Vatican’s decisions when it comes to matters like this because The Pope and the Magisterium of The Church can never teach heresy.

Steve Andersen:
first they came for those who questioned women’s ordination but I didn’t support that so I said nothing…

be careful what you wish for Starrs0

It’s funny - we condemn others for their perceived infidelities, but forget that we may ourselves be regarded as no better than those whom we criticise as unfaithful; and those who so regard us, may themselves be regarded as far too lax…and so on.

Until the Church is safe only for the most “ultra” of “ultras”. ##

…i am not truly qualifed to respond, other than to say that it is not scriptural, traditional or logical…

…i yield to the wisdom of the Magesterium…

Peace:thumbsup:

It really isn’t a question of whether women should be ordained; it’s a question of whether they can be ordained validly. The constant teaching of the Magisterium of the Church has made it abundantly clear that women cannot be ordained becaused of the nature of the priesthood. The late Holy Father Pope John Paul II has brought the issue to a close, stating that there is no longer room for debate; the matter has been settled.

This isn’t an issue of unfairness; just as a man lacks the capacity to give birth to children, something only women can do, similarly it is impossible to administer the sacrament of Holy Orders to women. Christ made his Twelve Apostles priests, telling them to “do this in memory of me”. The priesthood is therefore reserved to men alone, for they alone can’t received the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Nonetheless, women can still play an important role in the Church, as they do in many parishes, mine included. Many parishes need catechists, cantors, choir singers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, etc., always open to women. Just because women can’t be ordained doesn’t mean they can’t play an important role in the Church. Just ask Mother Angelica. 😉

it was men who made the decision to ban women, and it only men who could reverse it in the future.
Correction. No men, not even churchmen, could reverse the teaching of the Church on this matter.

Why initiate a poll soliciting anyone’s “opinion” – male or female – about this issue, when Pope John Paul II very clearly reiterated that the Church does not have the authority to ordain women?

I wasn’t a huge fan of the choices. NO: because it is not possible. Sacred Tradition, Scripture, and Ordinatio Sacredotalis forbid the ordination of women to the priesthood.

The poll which banned men from thids topic excluded 49% of the population! it was men who made the decision to ban women, and it only men who could reverse it in the future. So ladies, please step back while the males have their say.

The poll confrimed my suspicions that it is women themselves who oppose the ordination of women. Which woman would go to Confession to another woman and reveal her faults to her, or take advice from her? Now let me get my tin hat on!
It’s not about prejudices or silly feelings.

It’s about accepting God’s Will for His Church.

God, through Paul’s inspired verses, prohibits women from talking “in the churches.” Paul is very clear.

**34 ****women should keep silent in the churches, for they are not allowed to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. ****35 **But if they want to learn anything, they should ask their husbands at home. For it is improper for a woman to speak in the church. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35.

What is the Church? The Pope, the Curia, the Vatican.? All men. surely the people is the Church? How many women were consulted when this decision was made? The statement “The Church has spoken…that’s the end of it” apart from being inaccurate, is staggering in its effrontery. You cannot silence dissent by saying “Shut up! the Church has spoken!” millions left yhe Church in modern times because of this attitude.
Maklavan.

With reference to something you wrote on a thread about Communion in the Hand:
The only people who oppose this official teaching of the Church are sedevacantists, Lefebvrists or those who think that their private erroneous opinion is more important than obeying Church teaching.
Don’t supporters of women’s “ordination” believe that their “private erroneous opinion is more important than obeying Church teaching”?

Some joined-up thinking would be welcome!

Triumpha.

Oy vey. Isn’t it enough that women get to bring life into this world? I can imagine no greater gift from God than that. People treat the priesthood as if it were some kind of job promotion…or that the priesthood is the last bastian of the “He-Man Woman Haters Club.” God set up the model. If you have an issue with it, take it up with Him. I for one am not inclined to tell Him that he has a flawed design.

And they were all ordained priestesses!

Oh, wait, they weren’t. Those cowardly men were, though.

Actually, they weren’t - Jesus didn’t ordain anyone. And I recall that St. Paul says that some have gifts of healing, some are called to preach…doesn’t say only men.

Wow! You should really read some church history before you use the word NEVER! Cause that just isn’t true!

Women can not, and will not be priests (even if they will ever be ‘ordained’, it still won’t do anything) or bishops. This decision was not up to us, it was up to Christ and He has already spoken.

If we believe Christ was the last and the ultimate fullfillment of God’s revelation to humankind, what more to we need to know? Isn’t that enough?

Do we need another prophet after Jesus to come and tell us now that God has one more revelation he forgot!!

Our God is the God of yesterday, today and of tomorrow. What he said yesterday was true yesterday, is true today and will always be the truth.

The day it happens (women ordination) not that I believe it ever will is the day catholicism is lost forever. Then we’ll just become one of them 26000+ denominations out there.

The day it happens is the day we open the door to all the problems other churches are facing now. Inevitably the very next issue on the agenda will be people fighting to ordain gay priest/priestess. What kind of church will it become? Anti-catholic I suppose!!!

The day it happens is the day I leave the church very dear to me. But the problem is I’ll be asking myself quoting St. Peter, "Lord to whom can we go? You have the word of eternal life…"
Anyway it will never happen as I know the church is guarded and guided by the Holy Spirit until the end of time.

The Catholic Church has never in her 2000 years taught a doctrine that was a heresy. This is due to Christ’s promise that Hell will not prevail against His church. There have been bad people in the Church in the past, true, but if you honestly believe that the Church has taught false doctrine in the past, then there really is no reason for any of us to be Catholic because Hell would have prevailed against His bride which would make Christ a liar, which is impossible.

It wasn’t ‘men’ that banned women it was one ‘man’ that banned women. You may have heard of Him, His name was JESUS! He was man but He was also God. Seems like God left out 100% of the human race in His decission not just 49% of our current population. Faith is not a democracy where we vote on what we want to believe - that’s Protestantism. We are Catholic. We follow what God gave us WITHOUT question!

You want to argue or discuss women clergy? Complain to God, it was His idea not mine. I don’t understand it and neither do I question it.

Women can not be Priests. For a Priest becomes an “Alter Christi” another Christ. Christ Jesus is male, not female, and he is married to His Church (See Chapter 21 in The Apocalypse).

Priests, therefore, are called “Father” for they are married to “Our Mother” the Church… You do the math…

Besides, how many female saints have we had… Can we name one who has *pushed * for the ordination of women?
