My wife and daughters hate them. I’ve never known them to find a man in speedos attractive.
Speedos are an affront to the eye.

However, in swim competitions, women are willing to “look the other way.” Men/boys are allowed to wear them under those circumstances.

Most boys, including my son, wear the long tight “cycling” style swim shorts for practices and meets.

That’s Ne Zealand. Aussies don’t say ‘togs’. They say ‘swimmers’ or something else for speedos.

Yes, they serve a purpose in competitive swimming and are definitely an improvement on the original Olympians answer to maximising their natural speed, which was to go naked! 😮

That’s cool.
Here in the U.S. we say, for men, trunks, swim trunks, swim suit, or bathing suit. For women, I guess it’s just bathing suit. Maybe swim suit, too.

Times are a changing…Aussis seem to go with budgie-smugglers these days anyways…and that theological presentation also named them such as well as togs.

Perhaps its the same sort of argument people have here on CAF over whether grave sin and mortal sin are the same. Heavy stuff I know, perhaps we should ask an Aussi lifeguard re the theological subtleties 🤣.
Kiwis of course, as my BIL reminds me from time to time, dont call them budgie-smugglers…they, for themselves, tend to call them parrot-smugglers.

I think some of the female reaction to this posting are reflections on the many female modesty topics on this forum.

Golly…don’t we all have far bigger moral issues to be concerned with? Just saying!

I mean, any item of clothing could be seen lustfully by others. Those people need to know what their limits are and keep custody of their eyes, IMO.

I’d say you’re fine, OP, from a moral point of view.

Ahem. (Coughs discreetly.) @ScentedTuna is a person of the male sex gender.

I’ve never heard a woman talk about a swim brief as a matter of morality or modesty. When they talk about speedos it’s from a standpoint of, “eww, gross.”

@on_the_hill

If the OP were female and inquiring about a string bikini would you have the same lack of concern that it may cause temptation?

Last time I checked, women don’t get as bothered by speedos as men do by women in bikinis. We’re very different creatures.

I’d wager he won’t tempt anybody.

I don’t go to the beach to look at men’s swimwear that would be a bit weird. If you wanna wear trunks you wear them, it’s up to other people to control their lust

So I’ve been wearing long swim shorts since as far back as I can remember and I recently discovered mens swim briefs and decided to try them on; they seem much more practical and functional for the beach. However I dont know if it’s a sin or not to wear swim briefs. I have no intention of flaunting or whatever, they are just very comfortable, great for tanning, have no leg restriction, etc… So is it a sin to wear swim briefs or not?
Please…don’t. Regardless.

While it’s annoying how women’s clothes are always so scrutinized (even if the main areas are perfectly covered…) and men can get away with literally wearing as little clothing as possible…

I honestly still think guys shouldn’t wear it. It draws attention to their genitals and frankly nobody wants to see that! It’s not so much about lust, but immodest in an unsightly way.

Edit: imo immodesty is a lot larger than avoiding lust. An unattractive, larger girl won’t incite lust (and if it did, it would probably be equal to the amount of women lusting because of briefs, maybe even less) in a string bikini, but we know people here will still be against it.

The very Catholic former Prime Minister of Australia, Tony Abbot was/is well-known for cavorting in speedos. So far no instances of last have been reported, but there are many pics should you want to look for them.

Yeah I guess ill stick with swim shorts. It’s funny though because women wear bikinis all the time to the beach and even smaller cuts, but they dont want you see them in their underwear even though both are pretty much the same thing just different fabric  but IF men wear bikini cut swimwear it’s immodest, gross, wierd… and it makes sense that bikinis are aimed more to women because its attractive.

Idk I thought It wouldnt be a big deal to wear swim briefs but after reading all your guys’ posts I guess I’ll stick with swim shorts.
