Yes, there is a program in Rome to train exorcists. In fact, the story is about an american priest who was sent there to train. It was not long when he got back that he had deal with a case right away.

What do you mean by mediator? The priest is the exorcist. But there is heavenly help, as you will see from the book.

What hooked me was the Prologue, which deals with an actual account of an exorcism, wherein St Gemma Galgani, who I learned later was a Stigmatic, Mother Teresa and JP II come down from Heaven to assist, then the BVM appears too. I will not tell anymore, to keep you in suspense.

Another thing I learned, the Dark One’s minions fear the BVM the most…why…it is in the book.
Are you sure today that the catholic church is still training priests to exorcist?

Who can perform an exorcism? Only a priest?

thanks

Yes, as far as i know. The dark one still roams the earth. And did you not read some posts from your thread…some are playing around with quija boards and have no idea what they are dealing with. You will learn alot from that book. From the book, actual exorcists priests are named. One spent about 30+ years doing it.There is another book by the Italian exorcist in Rome, forgot the title but his name is Gabriel Amorth (am not sure about the spelling). I read it too.

Yes, only a priest with the permission of his bishop. But the permission is not easily granted. There are tests and countless examinations that have to be done. I think only when it is ascertained that it is a demonic possession that permission is granted. And not just any priest is allowed to do it. It has to be a deeply spiritual one and mentally tough one for he is going to do battle with the dark one.

If it interests you further, you can actually read the first 10 to 15 pages of the book on Borders.com for free. Just go to the Borders site and search for it.

Is Jesus our mediator?

Why do you ask? Don’t you know? Who do you say it is?
Sorry that was a very sarcastic question I asked. Forgive me.

What I was saying is that Jesus is our mediator. We do not need anyone to intercede on our behalf. We take our prayers to Jesus.

All is forgiven.

I recommend you read the book I mention in my previous threads…it is very informative and will deepen you spiritually. Actually the book warns us not to do it ourselves…for it is obviously very dangerous…the dark one is very wily, and full of tricks.

I agree that Satan is very very powerful. At the end of the world he will perform miracles. However, we have Jesus on our side. When we have faith in Jesus, Christ will be in" I". Therefore, Jesus can rid us of all evil. If we “do it alone” we will fail and Satan will win.
What I am saying is Jesus is our mediator, we can go **straight **to Jesus in times of trouble, He hears our prayers and is our protector.

so i take it that with the “straight to Jesus” quip, you are saying that the intercession of the saints is wrong? 😉 Peace 🙂

BTTG…sure I agree with what you said. In times of trouble, haven’t you asked for assistance from friends, from your parents or siblings? It is nice to know that someone is there and available to assist, isn’t it?

Yes, friends and family are great for moral support, but friends and family have no power to control Satan. God sent us the best comforter in the world, the holy spirit. No body on earth can help us with Satan. Through the grace of God we will have the faith in Jesus that He will make us strong.

Hi, BTTG,

Here is a link under this website: catholic.com/library/Praying_to_the_Saints.asp
There are other articles about this topic on this site, just go to the Search page.

A short explanation:

Saints are those who we know are in heaven with God. In asking for the intercession of saints, the Catholics ask for their help with our prayers to God, to intercede for us in times of need, since they are in heaven and are closer to God than us. In a sense, they pray to God too together with us here on earth.

Once you read the link, you will get more info.

OP : Does Hell exist today?

No. If you say yes, then show me where is it?

Not to be mean or sarcastic…if you want to see hell, you will have to ask the devil himself to show you or to take you there…you can attend a devil worship and ask the devil to possess you…he will surely oblige and take you where you want to be…in this lifetime…

Otherwise, when one dies and is worthy of hell, then that is where you will end up.

Thanks for the link. However, of what I read the author does not directly answer, or provide scripture proof of the belief, but rather his own belief. The beliefs stated contradict many scriptures that state the opposite.

Is the interceding in heaven done by dead spirits, or God’s angles?

When are we judged by God? Not until His second coming. If you go to heaven or hell when you die, God has already decided on your judgement.

If our souls live after death then we are not immortal. I believ the scriptures say that we are mortal. When do we receive our immortal bodies?

all is well Craig, thank you. by intercession of the saints, i mean this. since God is the God of the living and not the dead, we can ask those that have gone home to be with the Lord to pray for us on our earthly journey. since it is all one Church, i can ask you to pray for me, and also i can ask those in the full presence of God to pray for me. i.e. my patron saint, Benedict. if you never have had the opportunity, you may find it interesting to get ahold of a Catholic Bible, and read maccabees. there you will find Jews making sacrifices for the dead. you may also want to read the book of wisdom, in it, you will find a clear prophecy of Christ death, burial, and ressurection. even if you do not accept the deautrocannoical books, ( i spelled that wrong :o) i still think you would find them and interesting read. Peace 🙂

Hi, BTTG…

I reviewed the article…it does contain the biblical references, Rev 5: 8.

Try this link, this may be to your better liking:

Those in heaven are alive, not dead…both saints and angels intercede for us when asked.

]If our souls live after death then we are not immortal. I am not sure what you are asking, we are not immortal means we are mortal…we die but our souls survive, I believe…

I believ the scriptures say that we are mortal. When do we receive our immortal bodies?

As for your other questions, I suggest you start a thread in the Apologetics section. I would not do you justice if I tried to answer your questions as there are more knowledgeable people than me on the subject.
