sigh I wonder if people will ever research a bit before saying this?I also wonder if this guide will include anything about the Tabernacle that in some Churches is kept either on a side Altar or sometimes even out of the Church altogether in a “side Chapel” somewhere.![]()
Having the Tabernacle in a separate chapel or in a side chapel is a tradition in itself - its a Benedictine (monastic) tradition. Many older churches were designed this way.
Having the Tabernacle behind the altar is something started by St. Francis for mainly practical reasons: the chapels he built were small and so there was no side-chapels or altars and so the Tabernacle was placed behind the main altar.
Both options are a part of Catholic tradition (lower-“t” tradition); neither are opposed.
