OK. NOw, I will accept this as a possible answer. However, what roles will he have as messiah at that time?
in the Islamic version, he will break the cross, kill the pig, lead the ummah a la Islam, pray in the mosque, and die ( maybe get married as well dunno). There are other things for sure, but to give yu an idea.

Well, none of that lines up with what the rest of us believe. Interesting

What’s even more interesting is that “pig” refers to Jews.

But that’s not the worst of it, either. Refering to the Children of God as pigs is meant to be an insult against Jews, who regarded Gentiles as pigs - the uncleanest animals on the planet.

Some Muslims believe “pigs” refers to Christians, though. Which would make sense in light of one hadith, where, I think, Mohammed called Christians pigs and dogs (or something like that).

And there is STILL no answer about what Messiah or Christ means in Islam.

If Muslims believe Jesus is the Messiah according to the prophecies of Judaism, than please explain how He never fulfilled the prophecies according to Islam.

If not, though, than what dose “Messiah” or “Christ” mean in Islam?

If I recall correctly, Jesus will appear at the Dome of the Rock in Jeresulem on the last day to warn all Musalems to flee to Mecca so as not to be left behind when the Kaaba is assumed into heaven. The faithful are to grab onto the hem of the shroud over it. I guess it will have to move over a couple of feet as it is supposed to be located directly under the throne of God and the faithful parade counter-clockwise around it in emulation of the angels around the throne. I could be off slightly. My advisor for my M.Div. was a former missionary in Saudi Arabia and that was a long time ago. How is it that he could be a missionary when prostalitizing carries a rather nasty death sentence and they still have afternoon double-headers in Chop Chop Square? Anything is possible when you have an in with the Saudi Royal Family!

when Muhammad said that Jesus is the Messiah, he shot himself in the foot …
huh 🤷

Muhammed (p) came for all , not only for Jews. God sent Jesus (p) for Jews .

Jews made a serious mistake by rejecting him. They repeated the mistake & this time sadly Christians followed them by rejecting the last Prophet.

Also , Messiah is used in Quran not by the Prophet but God Almighty.

What did Allah mean when he said Jesus is “Christ” or “Messiah”?

I know what Jews and Christians understand about the Messiah, but I want to know what Muslims understand about the Messiah.

I read that he could cure the sick person from leprosy by touching his whole body.

The word/title Messiah & this miracle could be related. If u want any scholarly ans , then I need to browse 🙂

Jesus’ immediate mission was to the “lost sheep of Israel” but whenever a gentile approached Him with sincere faith, they were accepted. Towards the end of His ministry He told His Apostles to spread the Gospel to every nation and baptize every person in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

So it’s wrong to say Jesus was only for the Jews.

according to Bible , Jesus (p) said non-Jews are pigs . Later he said we are not pigs but human being ?

You don’t get it, do you? Muslims certainly don’t believe everything that the Jews believe, or that the Jews are right about everything.
The main argument here - why use the term Messiah (Christ) at all for Jesus?

It is not his name. His name is Jesus. When you use Christ for Jesus you would also have to accept its connotation as well.

Does Islam accept Jews’ understanding of Messiah? or

Does Islam accept Christians’ understanding of Messiah?

If Islam does not accept both then it has to define its own term for Messiah if it wants to use it. So the logical conclusion is, since Islam does not agree with both Jews’ and Christians’ definition, and it does not define its own definition but still use the term Messiah, then it shows that Islam does not know what the term Messiah means and entails.

Other than this, we are merely trying to look for something that is not there in Islam.

Note:
As been mentioned and explained, Messiah ( the Anointed) as a word does not mean the Son of God. In Jews context the Messiah is a ruler of Jews sent by God to deliver them from the enemy. As God’s anointed ruler, he is responsible for Jews’ glory and safety.

In Christian’s context the Messiah is Jesus. He too is ruler of Christians sent by God to deliver them from the enemy (sin). As God’s anointed ruler, he is responsible for Christians’ glory and safety but not in term of the physical world but spiritually. The clincher is that the Messiah is God himself who came in human flesh to fulfill the prophecies in the OT. One being in Ezekiel 34: - 'I, Myself will take care of my sheep … '. This makes the Messiah the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity.

I think that should explain it clearly to non-Christians.

I don’t know what misinformation you’re referring to, but this is what Jesus said,

"16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:16-20

As usual, thread on Islam always tend to derail and digress … sigh

I meant this : it is not meet to take the children’s bread and CAST IT TO DOGS . " MATTHEW 15:24-26

most probably there is another verse where swine is mentioned . If still u can’t remember , then I have to do a Bible search .

By the grace of God I will wait patiently for a scholarly answer. 🙂

By the way, don’t use the KJV (King James Version) Bible for bible references. No Catholic takes a heretical bible seriously.

A good Bible to use for bible references would be the NA (New American) Bible, which you can read online here. (click on English if you want to read it in English)

This doesn’t discount Matthew 28:19 where Jesus commands His apostles to make disciples of all nations, this statement still stands.

Secondly, in the passage you quote Jesus is testing the woman to see if she really believes in Him. She even plays along and says, “Even the dogs get the scraps from the table!” At this remark Jesus said, “you have great faith! Your request is granted.” and her daughter was cured at that very instant.

The fact that He answered this Gentile woman’s prayer by curing her daughter means He wasn’t sent exclusively to the Jews. As it was said earlier, it is true that His immediate mission was to the lost sheep of Israel but the plan of salvation includes all nations (Matthew 28:19)

If you’re referring to the verse where Jesus says don’t give pearls to swine, lest they trample on them. This refers to the obstinate persons who refuse to accept Truth not matter how clearly it is revealed to them.

Hope this helps,

God bless,
Tomasz

So, to try to sum it up, Jesus is refered to in the Qur’an as the Messiah, but there is no clear meaning to that term. Nothing in the Qur’an explains it and there is no ahadith to define it.

It is just a title used by Allah for no reason.
