The guests were told to dress in their “Sunday best” in other words, more modestly. Must not have got the memo…I believe there was a neckline rule a few years ago at the Met Gala (maybe it was part of the theme) and it’s sad they didn’t implement anything this year.
I for one am relieved no one wore that one, not to mention the ashes, as accessory.Yeah, but Lynda Carter would look good in a burlap sack.
It’s explained in the links above. The museum contacted the Vatican, got loan of art, clothing/vestments, whatever, to assemble an exhibit as basis for showing Church/religious influence on fashion. If you read all the articles you’ll get the idea. It’s a charity event, looks like most of the attendees dressed really normally, some let their imagination run waaaay out therehow they got the theme
