Okay, maybe the migrant is a ‘gift’. On the other hand, the illegal alien drug dealer or other criminal who sneaks in and lives off the efforts of others is definitely NOT !

Seems more like an adult avoiding adult responsibilities.

Shouldn’t exporting your problems be a last resort, after all other appeals for help have been ignored?.

What would you think of a generally functioning parent that just abandons their slightly challenging children, without asking for help?

Even the illegal but hard working migrant is a double edged sword when they take jobs away from your needy.
A constant influx of illegal economic migrants distorts our labor market and does real harm to our own underprivileged.

A black teen may not get that entry construction job if he’s competing with hard working experienced illegal workers, who require less oversight/motivation and a lower wage. But this first job can teach job skills and a work ethic that then leads to better jobs and eventually a career that pays a living wage.

A friend of mine posted this on FB. Why to many illegals have just the attitude.

Early immigrants to America: “ America is the land of hope and dreams guarenteed by protected Freedoms and Liberty. I want to raise my family there and make America a better, stronger place because it makes my family a better, stronger family.”

New Immigrants: I hate America but my Country sucks so I am going to violate American law which I obviously have zero respect for and manipulate and exploit Americas generosity and I am gonna take and take and take until there is nothing else to take, we will bleed America dry. Like a swarm of locust we will strip it bare and empty the coffers.
 
Why doesn’t the Mexican bishops take care of them there in Mexico? Why is Mexico a “transit country”? Why pass through Mexico, Let them stay right there.

If they are a refugee fleeing Central America, International Treaty does require Mexico to be responsible for them.

I think if Mexico was held accountable for this, they would show much greater interest in addressing the violence or governance issues with their immediate neighbors. Mexico has a much tighter connection and influence with these countries. They can make a difference if so motivated.

Seriously though, I think recent legal immigrants still share many of the intentions noted in your friend’s first paragraph.

Even in the US people will often get away with what they can, let someone else do the heavy lifting.

I think we just need to hold Mexico’s feet to the fire, then they will step up and engage on the problem.
They will also start to recognize what they are doing to the US.

Yes, let the usa join with a country that is a third world country. That will be a huge step in the right direction

Third world is an outdated description of a country.

After World War II it was coined by the French to basically describe alignment with democracies, communism, and those that aligned themselves with something else (third world)
