Actuall, as macabre as that sounds, Ann Coulter opined that he could perform abortions in the White House if he enacted his immigration campaign stance.

That would mean Trump cannot pardon himself or his family as none of them have committed a federal crime (yet).
Not true. Nixon was only an unindicted co-conspirator when Ford pardoned him from prosecution.

Hush yourself - Dont be rude and tell me to hush especially when this is factual … This is exactly Obama’s hypocrisy on display …But if the left did not have double standards they would have no standards at all … General Flynn - General Cartwright … no difference … except perhaps the FBI did not set the perjury trap with Cartwright- AND the FBI did not really think Flynn lied - it was all just an attempted coup
“The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed — about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn,” Obama said. “And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk. And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”

But, in 2017, just days before leaving office, Barack Obama pardoned retired Marine Corps general James E. Cartwright, who pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the FBI.

Cartwright served as vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Obama, and was “a key member of Mr. Obama’s national security team in his first term and earned a reputation as the president’s favorite general,” according to the New York Times . Cartwright had leaked classified information regarding Iran’s nuclear program to the media and lied to FBI officials investigating those leaks. He faced up to two years in prison before Obama pardoned him.

The general involved was not an Obama functionary, as Flynn was for Trump. You set up a false dichotomy and then label Obama as a hypocrite. That’s just not what should be done.

So whether a person breaks a law [leaking classified materials to the press] and then lies to the FBI about that leak is okay IF one is merely a “KEY” member of the national security team and Obama’s favorite general got it …

And that is so much more deserving of a presidential pardon then when someone is the victim of an FBI perjury trap …

That is hypocrisy … both were accused of LYING to the FBI … both worked for a a President … both were pardoned by a President …

skirt, jump, pretzel yourself anyway you want …

Functionary - a person who has official duties , especially in a government or political party

Hypocrisy - is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another or the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one’s own behavior does not conform

In the case of Trump it is his cronies who LIED to protect him he is giving a pardon to.
I bet he doesn’t pardon Michael Cohen!!

The impeachment trial was a farce. Schiff and Nadler
were on a witch hunt.

I believe they used to call themselves the democrat
party and for some reason changed it to the democratic party.

As you say, it is a party of members who call themselves democrats so it would make sense to be
called the democrat party. Why is it offensive is what
I would like to know.

It would seem strange to have a party whose members called themselves republicans identify as
the republic party.

Absolute nonsense!

Once Trump is kicked out on January 20, I hope every aspect of his and his family’s business is investigated by the authorities. He won’t have immunity!

More projection.Biden and his drug addicted son are the real faces of corruption

He does not deserve a pardon. He committed a crime!
None of us deserve a pardon for our sins. We are all sinners. And if those who sin do not deserve pardon, but receive it anyway, why can’t those who commit a crime receive a pardon?

Don’t confuse “sins” with “crimes”.
They are least related. Very often correlated. And certainly of the same mold. Pardons are a pale shadow of the kind of grace we all receive in the confessional. And like the pardon we receive as the priest sits in persona Christ remitting the eternal punishment due to sin, the freely given act of a Presidential pardon remits the temporal punishment due to committing a crime.

So you would be agreeable to a pardon for murderers, rapists, and pedophiles!??
If Christ can pardon the sins of those who commit such acts, I don’t see why our earthly institutions should not also be permitted to do so. I do think such pardons should follow the model we have in the Church—contrition and a firm amendment—in order to receive such a pardon.

You misunderstand a pardon. The pardon commission really frowns on any statement by the applicant which minimizes the crime. A person gets exactly no where stating that he or she is not guilty. Further, the vast majority of Obama’s clemency acts, including the one for the general, had been vetted by the pardon commission within the Justice Department. What counts most with the clemency folks is how a person conducts him or herself after the conviction. It is later acts which are noteworthy which makes a person suitable for executive clemency, at least in the view of the Justice Department. Needless to say many have been pardoned based for the most part on the pleadings of their supporters in Congress or who have the ear of a president.

So, I’m not saying that any crime was ok. What you fail to appreciate is how Trump’s pardons were really outliers in the clemency scheme. He was not following an recommendation from the Justice Department but helping those who erred on the side of him running for office. That’s a misuse of the pardoning power of the presidency – it is not supposed to protect one’s political hacks or get them out of trouble when they are found out; like D’Souza, Stone, et al.

You are in error.
