Michele Bachmann Expected to Form GOP Exploratory Committee

Ya know … it’s really funny … Michele Bachmann has a better handle on U.S. economics than the vast majority of the politicians who are in the race.

And the Civil War or the … we still can’t even agree on a name for it … War of the Rebellion, War for Southern Independence, War Between the States, The Late Unpleasantness … or if the Civil War [uses less type and is shorter] … was over slavery or if it was the industrial North imposing high taxes and tariffs on the agricultural South.

The South had agents working actively in the U.K. and the U.K. was a big supplier to the South.

One of the useful things about “superimposing” the Civil War on the current political campaign is that it brings to the foreground many of the REAL issues that are at stake. There aren’t all that many differences.

Economic policy is a big one.

Racial politics is another big one.

Strong central government [also known as “one size fits all”] [and which size would that be?] versus the decentralized states rights issues … is another one.

Voters rights … is another one … do we allow more votes than voters?

While there is a humorous overlay to some of this, the issues are very serious.

And Bachmann is unafraid to articulate those issues.

She is unafraid to suffer demonization by the left.

I think she is a candidate that will raise the level of discourse. She does not seem to have a lot of experience; but then look at our last two presidents ( sorry to the person posting earlier who qualified W as experienced). The important thing is that she raise issues that others see as unimportant. I don’t wholeheartedly support the Tea Party as i have qualifications about how we will cut and spread the pain (of cost cutting).

Personally, I think another with little experience, Donald Trump, may do better as he has the media presence voters like.

I guess two terms as governor of a big state do not qualify for Bush. And as far as the Tea Party goes, we better start cutting or we are going to be a bankrupt country. While our economic situation is critical, our current president has spend enormous amounts of money, money that is not there. This is no way to run a country.

I agree with you. I think that you shouldn’t be qualified to be President of the United States until you’ve been the president of at least one other country before. This is no environment for rookies and learning on the job.

I don’t know about that. I think she’s more just committed to an ideology than actually has a handle on economics. Then again that is the case for most politicians. Odd as it may seem I’d almost rather have a leader who is wrong for good reasons than right for purely ideological reasons. That said, I don’t know all that much about her economic positions. Though from reading her wikipedia article, I take issue with some of what she’s said, like that America shouldn’t be part of the global economy.

Perhaps he’s trying to boost GM exports by devaluing the currency, at the expense of those of us are sensible enough to buy Japanese cars instead.
