If the topic is Jews facing the death camps, one doesn’t have to be Catholic and Democrat to be an interventionist or, on the other hand, to reject intervention as a national policy

You are free to want to tie abortion to everything, but it was irishpatrick who brought up the subject of the Jews in this thread.
The topic is Re: Mike Huckabee: Abortion Most Important Political Issue

There is nohing interventionist about trying to shut down the Planned Parenthood clinic down the street nor would there have been anything interventionist about Germans abandoning their Party and damanding the closing of the Death Camps.

There is nohing interventionist about trying to shut down the Planned Parenthood clinic…
Agreed. I wouldn’t be considered ‘pro life’ but the efforts of the Republicans at the moment to defund Planned Parenthood must surely be the opposite of (domestic) interventionism? It sickens me that organisations like PP say they need taxpayers money.

Then go complain to irishpatrick about hijacking the thread to talk of our obligations to the Jews in and around World War II.

I never stopped speaking the topic at hand…I simply used examples to make my point. Please, do not intentionally leave out facts.

No, it would not. I wouldn’t go to war over that.
Okay, so we have clarity on where we each stand. You would look the other way as six million Jews were killed, while I would intervene to help.

Your view is the very reason 3,000-4,000 babies are killed each day through legal abortion. People look the other way and say to themselves, “It is not my business.”

So there we have it, a clear distinction of where we each stand. Thank you for your honesty.

What is wrong with intervening when situations call for it? I’d really like to know… 🙂

The difference ,of course, is there is not a death camp down the street from me but there is a Planned Parenthood “clinic”. But rather than get sidetracked lets go back to the topic at hand-that is where abortion fits in the hierarchies of the issues facing this country.
Not to side track; however, you make an interesting statement:

of course, is there is not a death camp down the street from me but there is a Planned Parenthood “clinic”.

Let us make something really clear: the only difference between the death camps and an abortion clinic is that the death camps are condemn as being evil, while the abortion clinics are considered to be fine and acceptable because they are legal by civil law. Other than that distinction, I see no real difference.

Of course, I am sure that in Hitler’s mind the extermination of the Jews was perfectly legal too, from a civil pov.

Nations tend not to intervene into the internal affairs of another nation, even a bad one, unless those internal affairs seriously affect the nation considering intervention.

We are not speaking about “NATIONS,” we are speaking about the USA, which is called to be a cut above.

Not every American accepts “American exceptionalism,” which is based on a Calvinist view of the world.

The fact that so many people think that today is why we are in true decay.

Not every American accepts “American exceptionalism,” which is based on a Calvinist view of the world.
Those who deride American exceptionalism claim that that is the Calvinist view of the world. The rest of the just know that it is true and that we need to convince the Democrat Party to quit blocking our efforts to end abortion so that all of our children can enjoy the fruits of this great, exceptional, nation

Nobody said a word about manifest destiny and the Church has never condemend yhe proposition that Amercia is excpetional

Now back to the topic at hand. Abortion is the greatest issue facing the country today and the Democrat Party is the greatest obstacle to ending it.

I agree that the USA has no right to push its norms on other nations. However, the USA should always be ready to help when need arises, and the USA should always be seen as a beacon on the hill–to the entire world.

Not even close.

Let me give an exmaple: as a Catholic I know who my savior is, His name is Jesus Christ. I know that the Lord’s one true Church is the Roman Catholic Church. I also know that the USA has been blessed with much, and from those (USA) blessed with much, much is expected. In no way is thinking that the USA is exceptional does that equate to somehow worshipping the USA. Knowing something is true does not equate to idolatry.
