That Miller ever allowed itself to be associated with is the question. Free speech, but responsibility for that speech, too.

Underneath this is a continuing attack on Christianity’s principles by groups opposed to Church teaching in a fundamental way. Their apparent solution is to denigrate the Church and Her teachings and thereby drive people away from associating with it. In large part the sexual ethic and virtue of chastity is being overturned as a vice by those opposed to Christian teaching.

There is a real war of ideas here that has life and death consequences for those who reject chastity, reject Truth, reject their own dignity in the image of God.

It’s a cultural fight but underneath it, it is a metaphysical fight about what it means to be a human.

Freedom of speech does not include the right to be profitable or popular. When a company insults or outrages us, we are not obliged to buy that company’s products.

Good for Miller…I’m sure they heard from a lot of people
A Little Too Late, the posters are already printed and the event is this Sunday.(I can just see this gay activist running around town and the bars pasting stickers over the Miller Lite logo:shrug: Not!) A bigger concern is that taxpayer money is being spent because of the event, thus in essence making the state/city co-sponsors. Did you noticed the tatic used to justify the poster by the organizer? Making the claim that “what’s the big deal De Vinci was gay”. Which is just speculation and even if he was, he kept his private life ‘private’, unlike these NAZI leather clad brutes that are putting on this public S&M orgy.

There are entities who strive to be upright, and entities that will try to pull off whatever they think they can get away with.

Now we know into which group the Miller Brewing Company falls.

Blessings,

Gerry

I thought they pulled the ad …😦

The whole ad is terrible…disgraceful

The poster makes a mockery of the Last Supper just as much as satan makes a mockery of Mother and Child in The Passion of the Christ.

The culprit is one and the same behind the poster

The group behind the ad said it was not intended to be either “pro-religion or anti-religion,” but the poster – a parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper” – continued to draw fire from Christian organizations on Tuesday.
My reply to this “Yeah Right”

Sounds like they are not sorry they did it, but sorry they got caught. That they sponsor the event says much more about Miller than that they ran such an ad.

You can buy copies of the poster at the Fair’s websight and it appears to still have the Miller Lite logo:shrug: I wouldn’t suggest going to their website though. Here is the press release from
Miller - they appear to be a long time sponsor of the event.
Statement Regarding Folsom Street Fair
While Miller has supported the Folsom Street Fair for several years, we take exception to the poster the organizing committee developed this year. We understand some individuals may find the imagery offensive and we have asked the organizers to remove our logo from the poster effective immediately.

Thanks, for keeping us informed, no more Miller for me.
One big change I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older is that in my youth I bought a lot of cheap beer and now I buy just a few rather expensive beers. I would have no time for Miller regardless.

That said, I looked at the ad. Miller is just one of MANY sponsors listed across the bottom of the ad. Miller is the 800 pound gorrilla, but the other sponsors should take some heat too.

If you think the ad is bad some of the events are worst here is some of the entertainment.😦

******The Catholic-nun- and Christianity-mocking Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence— whose adherents sport names like “Sister Porn Again” and “Sister Roz EXXXXXX”– works closely with and benefits from the sadism-celebrating ”Folsom Street Fair” in San Francisco. Folsom organizers list “The Sisters” as among the ”major beneficiaries” of the event, which has drawn national attention due to its promotional poster spoofing Christ’s Last Supper.
*nohome is right Miller shouldn’t be the only ones to take the heat here is list of other sponsors and supporters from last year.
In 2006, thanks to the record-breaking support from fair-goers and our sponsors, Folsom Street Events donated $301,512 back to local charities, far exceeding our community grants goal. This year, we hope to surpass that mark – but we’ll need your help to do it. 100% of our gate donations go to charity along with the profits from our beverage sales, exhibitor booths, and generous sponsors. Our 2007 benefiting nonprofits include AIDS Emergency Fund, Berkeley Free Clinic, Black Rock Arts Foundation, Dolores Street Community Services, Frameline, GLBT Historical Society, Healing Waters, Lyon-Martin Health Services, Pets Are Wonderful Support, Positive Resource Center, San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence
, STOP AIDS Project, Tenderloin Health, Transgender Law Center, and Triangle Martial Arts Association. Please donate generously! Generous support from our sponsors makes Folsom Street Fair possible. Presenting Sponsors include Miller Lite and MGD, NakedSword, and TitanMen. Premier Sponsors include RECON, Hot House Entertainment, Elbow Grease, Mr. S Leather and Maximus Vodka. Charter Sponsors include Steamworks [a homosexual bathhouse in next-door Berkeley], BigMuscle.com, BXXX Buddies [a San Francisco homosexual sex club], DungeonBeds, Leatherpost, Powerhouse, and Joie de Vivre Hospitality. Media Sponsors include GLOS, LIVE 105, San Francisco Bay Guardian, and IN LA Magazine. Grants for the Arts and San Francisco Department of the Environment both support us as well.
*😊 only thing is most of them are ‘gay’ related which many on this forum wouldn’t be buying from anyways, I hope.

Oh well it’s sold here in Ireland, I have drank it a few times, I usually keep an eye out for what companies sponsor, and try as far as possible not to add to their bank account.

Just knowing that Miller sponsor this puts me completely off, and it’s amazing what goes around here by word of mouth.

Off-course whiskey sold here was flushed down the drains in the USA when the truth go over there eventually, as to who makes it, and what foot they kicked with.

Actually I’m going to email Miller with my one man protest, I won’t close them down, but I won’t add to them either.

Miller pulls sponsorship from San Francisco homosexual “Leather Event”

San Francisco, Sep 27, 2007 / 11:25 am (CNA).- Following an uproar over its sponsorship of the annual homosexual event known as the Folsom Street Fair, Miller Brewing Company has pulled its support from the event.
The scuffle over the brewer’s sponsorship is over a poster for the fair that portrays half-naked sado-masochists as Christ and his disciples at the Last Supper.

Yeah. There’s “Sex Toys” on the table as well:mad: . After being notified by The Catholic League, I sent an e-mail to a Julian Green at Miller Brewing. I told him how offensive this is to Christians. How disgusting. Whether they were Gay or Straight, to have such a blasphemous dipiction of The Last Supper was sickening! The envelope keeps getting pushed further & further. I’m fed up to my eyeballs with this ****! I told him believe it or not, alot of Christians drink Beer. While I don’t care for Beer, Miller Lite is the Beer of choice for my DH. Not anymore though , he will be drinking something else.
