It was just announced that Coors is merging with (or taking over – the news was not clear) Miller.

I’ll stick with Guiness, thank you.
Reminds me of the story of the lunch between the owner of Budweisr, Coors and Guiness. The Coors owner ordwered a Coor, the Bud Owner a Bud and the Guiness owner ordered a glass of water, When they asked him why he said “well you didnt order a beer so i didnt either”

Well, you can’t really call that stuff beer, now can you?

You know the Guiness family is Protestant, and although the business is in Dublin, they refused to hire Catholics for any but menial jobs. So some years back, the Irish decided to boycott Guiness.

The boycott lasted all afternoon.😃

My Welsh wife tells me the reason Americans serve their beer cold is to a cover up the terrible taste.

Back in my drinking days I was a Bud man to such an extent that when I quit drinking they had to put one of Clydesdales down.😉

I used to drink a bit – when I decided to taper off, *Duffy’s Tavern *went off the air. 😃

Good for Miller…I’m sure they heard from a lot of people
aith
I agree. I am sure as well that they heard from a lot of people. May I expand the conversation a bit??

Would Miller ever place a picture of the Muslim related religious act in the same light and fashion as they did with the Christian act of the Lords Supper?? No, they would not have ever even considered that. We are learning from our Muslim brothers in some and many respects.

We hold the Lords Supper at such a sacred and elevated position in our Catholic Faith that our entire Religious Service is related to it! Miller has not won a friend with me by thinking it acceptable to denegrate my faith in an attempt to get my money. They incorrectly thought that we would not care and just overlook it. Akin to an abuse"r" that the abuse"d" so damned stupid that they will sit by and happily and flacidly do…nothing.

IMHO, I reccommend that we, and all that read this continue to communicate to Miller Brewing that we do not appreciate the lack of respect. The sting from us must be so hard and painful that they never try to pull a stunt like this again…ever! (Sorry, I was a Union Organiser for so long. I fight back! 🙂

Note in todays news SABMiller, which brews Miller Lite as well as a slew of European beers, and Denver-based Molson Coors, the brewer of Coors Light and the craft beer Blue Moon, are merging their US operations.

And I won’t be able to drink any of those brands without recalling those disgusting images.

I just sent an e-mail to Coors (www.coors.com) informing them that I will no longer purchase any of their products because of this merger. I informed them of Miller’s sponsorship of the street fair and other controversial issues. I also told Coors that I am a LONG time customer of theirs and I intend to inform others to no longer purchase their products.

**CNSNews.com) **- The Miller Brewing Company, a sponsor of this weekend’s homosexual “leather” street fair in San Francisco, has asked to have its logo removed from an advertising poster that has offended some Christians.

The advertisement portrays Christ and his disciples as half-naked sado-masochists.

cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=/Culture/archive/200709/CUL20070926b.html
IT SHOULD NOT OFFEND “SOME” CHRISTIANS. IT SHOULD OFFEND ALL CHRISTIANS! IT’S DISGUSTING AND PROBABLY A HUGE SLAP IN THE FACE FOR OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR. AND AS I WRITE THIS, I HEAR THE HOLY SPIRIT TELLING ME NOT TO HATE THEM BUT TO PRAY FOR THEM. ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

well it is good to know that a threatened beer boycott by Catholics has the power to change corporate minds, but I can’t help but wonder if fundamentalists and other sects that ban drinking would be able to pull it off. Now Catholics threatening not to drink your product: THAT is effective. Teetotallers could never have this clout.

👍

I find the idea that a beer company would not just not care about their customers personally, but to take a very slicing move towards them to be very offensive. Many of the Board of Directors are Catholic. That did not seem to matter to them.
Would they place a picture of Islamic leaders in the same fashion. No, they would not. Yet they bruise, slash and cut at us and ask why we are upset. I feel that we have been “raped” and should return the favor to Miller. I will not buy one of their products again, ever. I am so deeply offended that I told a friend of mine what they did in the Kroger store and he put their product back and bought a competators brand instead. Tell your Christian friends of all Christian Faiths what they did. Their actions insult and bruise other Christians as well. As a convert from a Protestant faith I promise you that they are offended as well. The Lords Supper is very important to all Christians, not just us.
Ask others to not buy Miller products ever again. They have no respect for me, I have none for them either. Period, end of story.
