I wonder if they’ll get dinged for Hatch Act violations?
Kneeling is not a violation of the Hatch Act.

BTW, the viewing for George Floyd is still being livestreamed. All is peaceful. He will be laid to rest tomorrow after a private funeral. I am proud of this community for handling the protest both peacefully, and with universal support from the whole community. Our local NAACP is amazing! My hat is also of to Art Acevedo, Houston PD Chief of Police.

That is not what the Hatch Act prohibits. The type of political activities that are prohibited on the job are campaigning, advertising or displaying partisan (as in political parties) advertising. I do not think the Republican administration is anti-prayer or anti-kneeling enough to try and twist this like an endorsement in the an election, or to say that prayer is a Democrat act, and opposing prayer is a Republican act.

We will see it the hypocrisy extends that far, but I do not think so.

If any of these employees were supervisors:

• May not invite subordinate employees to political events or otherwise suggest that they engage in political activity.

It also says the following:

• May not engage in political activity while on duty, in the workplace, wearing a uniform or official insignia, or in a government vehicle.

Or is this not considered “political activity” because they aren’t endorsing a particular candidate or party?

I do not see anyone ever proposing kneeling is a political activity. No. Even the most ungodly do not want to go that far. Even more than that, without endorsing a party or a candidate, I do not think the Hatch Act applies. I do not believe either party is going to admit to be officially racist, or openly support of police brutality, opposed to justice, etc.

Texas governor Greg Abbott, as conservative as they come, traveled to Houston to pay his respects to the George Floyd. Honoring a tragedy is not exclusive to any party.

I don’t have any evidence but since two of the four officers involved in the killing of GF were only on duty for 4 days or so… maybe funding has already been reduced. It is a big expense to the city…

You can move to seattle and it is there. Antifastian is what you will get in your city. Who know you may even get your own warload.
