Oh, puleeze! How many priests have been dragged out of their rectories and shot to death in the street? How many bishops have been thrown into prison? How many churches have been burned down or desecrated? How many federal agents have spilled consecrated Hosts onto the sidewalk and stomped on them? How many Catholic schools have been shuttered and locked by federal agents?

You want oppression of the Church?? Look to China and the Spanish Civil War and to Soviet actions in Eastern Europe after WWII.

It’s almost enough to want to vote for Obama just to protest against the misrepresentations being put forward by the rightwing. 😦 😦
How long do we have to wait to be concerned?

I’d say we have to wait for some overt actions on the part of the government - the first arrests, the first school and church shut-downs. Not the speculations of people driven by fear.

Really? That’s your best? To say that since Priests are not being killed in the USA, that means no anti-Catholic bias is going on? So, trying to force the Church to go against its own teachings is fine by you? Forcing lay Catholics to make a choice between their jobs, or their faith, is okay with you? And all of that done by force of law, is okay with you? And, you see no reason to fear anti-Catholic, and anti-Christian bias in any of that?

Don’t you understand, we all know we don’t have it as bad as other places in the world–and get this straight, please: WE WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!

Or the first government mandate forcing Catholic institutions to violate their conscience.

I we can count on you helping out when it gets that bad - but not before?
👍
If the cops start to beat up priests, I’d say that we have to wait until they do that. We can hardly attack cops in response before the fact. When the bishops are being locked up, sure, I’ll volunteer my legal skills to defending them. Why not? I do a fair amount of pro bono work. Would you have me file an injunction against the government before it does anything overt?

But asking for ID before voting is a wildly repressive and racist.

You’re on the wrong thread with that comment. 🤷
Because it makes your statement look so ludicrous? Priests have been dragged out of their rectories and shot to death in the street before its repressive to the Catholice Faith but asking for ID to vote is repressive to minorities. 😊

Does shutting down Catholic Adoption services and Catholic Efforts to help sexaully exploited women count?

Apparently not. The government didn’t shoot people to make that happen. But it probably will cost lives.

You are trying to show a nexus between voter identification requirements and oppression of the Church. I don’t see the connection. Sorry.

I may have missed the story. Where did government agents shut down Catholic adoption services and services to abused women? I know that Alternatives to Abortion establishments here in Little Rock are functioning and Right to Life organizations here are also open for business.
