There was Prohibition. No country can afford to permit injustice. Reversing poor laws is something that democracy does.

I don’t think it will happen though. I think a more realistic expectation will be a modification that takes out the most distasteful parts.

That would actually be good. Something we could agree to agree on, and something that doesn’t attack anybody and doesn’t scapegoat anybody. That’s how the system is SUPPOSED to work.

Now to get THERE and then figure out how the country’s going to pay for it without ending up totally broke. Good goals.

Absolutely. It’s always easier to prescribe nasty medicine for someone else than to take it yourself.

Yeah,funny how that works,huh?:rolleyes:Same thing with school vouchers,notice how all the politicians opposed to vouchers,send their own kiddos to private schools?Now they are beating the same drum as it applies to the Ryan plan for medicare vouchers.The Dems response is “not fair,as mostly rich folks will take advantage of the vouchers,leaving the poor with lousy health care”.Sounfd familiar ?:eek:

Well we do have Romney Care here in MA. However, Elizabeth Warren and her husband, are both professors at Harvard University. I doubt they have problems with getting affordable health insurance.

Nope. No filibuster. They just need to repeal it through the same process that they used to get it passed, Reconcilliation, which only needs 51 votes and does not require cloture.

It also isn’t a reconciliation vote, which is the reconsideration of a law that was approved, but not yet enacted. Obama Care was not only approved, but parts are now in effect.

If they could repeal Obama Care, they could’ve repealed social security and medicare, which they wouldn’t even attempt to do.

Actually, most models have the GOP taking 55 seats in the Senate and retaining the House. Independents are dropping the Democrats like a hot potato.

Harvey Rosen of Princeton University says Romney, Ryan plan can be revenue neutral with out raising anybody’s taxes

Relatively little has been said about the possible effects of the Romney proposal on economic growth. This is curious because increasing growth is the motivation for the proposal in the first place.

In this paper, I analyze the Romney proposal taking into account the additional income that might be generated by economic growth. The main conclusion is that under plausible assumptions, a proposal along the lines suggested by Governor Romney can both be revenue neutral and keep the net tax burden on high-income individuals about the same. That is, an increase in the tax burden on lower and middle income individuals is not required in order to make the overall plan revenue neutral.

Romney could be president, he should be making foreign policy statements as world events occur. Would it have been right for him to go campaigning instead of making a statement about the deaths of US citizens?

Give us a break. One of the knocks on Romney is his lack of foreign policy experience. Every candidate in existence would do the same thing. He’s running for President.

When the economy collapsed in 08, both candidates reacted. Why would they do any differently? People want to know what they’d do.

To have an issue with this shows a real sense of bias Jim.
