Modest exercise clothing?

To the argument that say “men think differently than women”, I would argue the fact that these men know that their thinking is not very “holy”, so as NOT to say that their thinking is a better way of thinking compared to womens way of thinking, so as to have all people respect their way of thinking more than to respect womens way of thinking.

Women shall NOT be asked to adapt to a sinful way of (anyones) thinking.

Let men learn to control themselves just the way women do. For generations women are demanded to behave regardless whatever, so men shall learn to do the same, especially in this modern culture. If we allow men to control women, instead of controlling themselves, our modern culture will turn more and more barbaric, a culture that will look down on women based on the way they dress.

lol- That’s a great summation!

And you hit the nail on the head above- NO INTENTION TO ELICIT A PURIENT REACTION.

I mean there was a post a while about about the immodesty of ballet clothing for Lord’s sake.
Yeah, there are some women who attempt to elicit that reaction which is a problem. But trying to shield men from themselves doesn’t work either. I find men try to live up to the standards that are expected of them.

Like your signature line and it’s corollary- When you need to drive a nail, everything looks like a hammer.

Since men can’t seem to control their thoughts,
just wear a burqa and be done with it…
If women must wear burqa, men must dress like ninjas.

Moreover there should be a law stating that all men and women must dress according to the onlookers taste. Whoever dress according to their own taste must be branded as selfish and shall be punish according to the law.

and

The law must rule that men’s way of thinking must be respected, even if such way of thinking is wrong and sinful.

As for women’s way of thinking, it shall be neglected according to the law.

For far to long – men have coped out – of their responsibility to control their lecherous thoughts. Pushing responsibility onto women --only serves to enable the lechers to continue the way they are.
I think its safe to say you have an un-catholic agenda then.

Both men and women are responsible. Not just men, and not just women. What you are doing is choosing to continue the distortion. Instead of males neglecting their responsibility, you want to make a mass call for women to neglect theirs.

That is now how it works, both sexes are responsible… unless you are trying to say that women are helpless creatures who can’t handle any responsibility that inconveniences them. I know lots of women who would disagree with you on this point.

So I can only appeal again that you put aside your ideologies and do what is RIGHT and Catholic. If you are a woman, start taking up your responsibility without neglecting it. That would be to dress modestly and take care to not tempt ones brother. This is the wisdom of the Church fathers. We would do well to respect their teachings in our piety.

This is not an issue of control. This is about women taking up their responsibilities. Are you trying to say that women can’t take up their responsibility to dress modestly and not be a stumbling block to others?

Men and women need to take up responsibility and stop being like children who are talking about being controlled. Sometimes, taking up the responsibility requires you to make sacrifices. That is not a sign of being controlled. That is a sign of LOVE.

Ya missed the boat there, bud!

What was being said was that not having men take responsibility for their thoughts and actions and using women (dressed in any way) as a scapegoat to excuse their behavior further allows them to ignore their own responsibility to their sisters in Christ. The only agenda in Walking Home’s response is the one taught by the Church- men and women are of equal dignity in Christ. To continue to blame women for men’s problems robs them of their God-given dignity.

Women should not have to cover from feet to neck when they exercise. If someone wants them to, it is a control issue. Telling someone that a t-shirt is immodest and he wants her to wear something else, is not a sign of love but a sign of a controlling person.

No one is talking about a woman wearing a bikini while exercising. We are talking about normal exercise clothes. If a man can’t handle himself seeing a woman dressed like that, he needs to stay home or wear blinders.

The problem here goes right back to the OP…some people don’t consider an outfit modest unless it is a burka or darn close to one.

There are certain things that tempt men. The priest in the video I presented before highlights these things.

So a woman MUST adhere to these standards. Otherwise you might as well wear a bikini or workout in the nude.

If a T-shirt is immodest, it is a sign of love to correct them. Mothers do it all the time. Trust me, its not because they want to control you.

This is a logically fallacious argument. The opposite of immodesty is not wear a burka. A person just needs to educate themselves more on how to be modest.

If you are seriously thinking Burka, you need to watch the video I referenced in an earlier post. Here it is if you missed it.

Hope this helps! 🙂

.
Hear that girls? I wonder what the response at the gym would be to such an event as women working our in the nude. If I were jogging on the treadmill I believe I would be in real danger!!

Ankles tempt some men. So should all of my skirts come past my ankles? Some men are tempted by long hair, should I cut my hair short?

A t-shirt is not immodest, unless the OP has cut holes into it.

I like looking at women’s necks- not in a vampire-like way though. 😊

I need women to wear turtlenecks at all times. 👍

Again, please, watch the video.

It might surprise you to know that over centuries, people came up with standards for what constitutes as tempting and what doesn’t. The priest explains these standards (which ideally should have been taught by ones parents already).

A t-shirt is not always modest. Its not about just showing skin either. These are things you need to learn.

There is a reason why people used to say things like “who is that Girl’s mother?” when they saw a woman dressed badly. It was because one assumed that the mother had failed at her job of educating her children. Today, we seemed to have a lot of mothers who failed at it. It doesn’t mean that women shouldn’t start learning the right way.
