I didn’t say anything about blame. Women should want to be helping their brothers get custody of their eyes.🙂
Then men should also want to help women keep custody of their eyes and therefore should wear tunics and robes…just like the Apostles did.😉

Yes they should… and people posting immodest before and after pictures asking for opinions should instead only post modest pictures… 🙂

*Wouldn’t that be wild if we dressed like the old days…either Biblical times…or maybe even the Victorian era? Those elaborate dresses and all …that would be something! I bet it took a long time to get dressed though, lol. *

In Victorian times you also had only one or maybe 2 good dresses and a couple of housedresses. And you had to wear tightly laced corsets which actually emphasized your bosoms by making you wasp-waisted and pushed up the “girls.” Those bosoms might have been covered, but they were highly noticeable. Plus you couldn’t breathe, which is probably why women fainted frequently. Not to mention long woolen or cotton stockings held up with round garters which cut off the circulation to your legs (my grandmother wore those). And 3 or 4 petticoats, 2 in summer.

Did I just rain on your parade?😃

I am not overweight, but I do have a bit of protruding stomach (always have), and I have never found a jumper in which I did not look somewhat pregnant. Also, as I am now in my 60’s, the “girls” are not where they once used to be. Plus I have no behind to speak of, which only throws things more off balance. I truly look dumpy in a jumper. Long sweaters also make me look somewhat pregnant. And I am only 5’4".

I have found that a nice pair of tailored slacks or a skirt that is mid-knee or just reaches to the bottom of my knee, with a flat front and a top that extends a few inches below my waist and a nice lightweight sweater or jacket worn with a mid height heel balances out my figure and is modest. I wear scrubs at work and jeans at home. I do not buy dresses as they require too much alteration. I actually feel more modest in pants than in a skirt, I feel more covered. In summer I wear capris and a short sleeved top or blouse. No one has ever accused me of dressing immodestly in pants or short-sleeved tops–that would be quite a stretch.

A lot of what I see teenagers wearing today, both boys and girls, I consider immodest. The boys have the waist of their pants halfway down their legs with their underwear showing when they bend over (at least they are wearing underwear) and the girls have their bellies and the top of their butts exposed. Plus not too many of these girls have the figure to wear such things and they look ridiculous, besides being immodest. There are modest, cute clothes for them out there. I don’t know why their parents let them go around looking like they do, with all that skin showing. I dunno, maybe it’s because I am getting old…

Tell it, sister, tell it. Someone needs to tell these brats that looking attractive does not mean looking slutty.

I’ve always thought (even when I was a teenager, lo these many years ago) that modest attire is far more interesting than all that overly-revealing trampy stuff.

Anyway, to answer the original question, I do not think women’s pants per se are immodest–but if you have too little pants and too much woman, you get into trouble in a hurry–for any number of reasons. The outfit in the original photo looked fine to me.

I do have corsets, so I am halfway there! A corset always get me mucho male attention. I do think that all men should wear suits. The first time I saw Elliott Yamin in a suit. THUD. :bowdown2::bowdown2::bowdown2::bounce::extrahappy: drool

Wait, what was I talking about?

I think your outfit is modest. I think the key is that the top is flowing and comes down over the butt. It is not “form-fitting.” It is very pretty.j

If you ask me, some of the pants men wear nowadays are not modest. I saw a tv report on the CBS morning show about the new form fitting pants for men. They interviewed these guys who said they didn’t want to wear their father’s trousers. So basically these form fitting pants tend to be just slightly too tight in the front. And now I’ve noticed some guys at working wearing these pants. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Okay, scratch that… :rotfl:

You and Elliot Yamin I tell ya…lol 😃

And that is why I need a boyfriend, so I need to wear a croset, lol.
LOL!

And to CB Catholic: I agree with you. I’m 22, but I was raised with gasp VALUES!
It has always repulsed me to see the nasty body parts showing on both males and females due to lack of fabric, and boy when I tell you my eyes have been soiled many-a-time, you better believe it.

Unfortunately some of these exhibitions have been at Mass. It’s all about the parenting.
As the saying goes ‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’.

*As a mom of teens, a boy (17) and girl (13) …it’s hard to explain, but it’s almost like this is the style for many teen girls these days…tight tight jeans (“skinny jeans”) …short ruffly skirts, tops with belly showing…My kids’ schools have strict dress codes interestingly…but my son says when I ask him how girls are dressed, he says…’‘there are so many girls these days that dress in certain ways, that you sort of don’t notice it anymore.’’ He went on to say, if he were in a room of all girls dressed in long skirts, and one walked in with a super short one, she would stand out more, because she’s the only one dressed like that. He said, ‘‘so many girls dress like this now, it’s just become the norm…I don’t notice it anymore.’’ I tend to not notice it anymore either. My dd dresses in jeans that might be perceived here as immodest, they are the stone washed ripped kind. But, it’s the look. I don’t think it’s immodest, personally…she wears a modest fitting tee with it…nothing tight, but nothing baggy. Kind of in between.

I wouldn’t buy my daughter mid drift tops, or skinny jeans personally…thankfully, she wishes to dress modestly. But, one of her friends who comes over sometimes, wears the skinnny jeans…hard to explain, but it really doesn’t look ‘‘immodest.’’ I remember my sister’s skirts back in the 70’s…they were very short…and that was the look. I don’t know if anyone thought they were immodest, back then, because sometimes when everyone is wearing similiar things, it just sort of blends together. I dunno.

I’m not a guy, so…take that for whatever it’s worth! :p*

I tend to ‘live’ in jeans, as they are comfortable for me and I don’t like wearing pantyhose. As I said to my Mom once, it’s like sitting in a catapult! I wear t-shirts, that are usually plain and no slogans or too fancy, and prefer the slightly longer ones, as they cover my tummy. Even before I had my daughter, I never had a completely flat stomach. And ‘my girls’ are quite large, so try to camouflage them as much as possible! As I start the conversion process to becoming Catholic, officially, I am becoming more aware of how to dress, even though I don’t need to make many changes.

:signofcross::highprayer:

I don’t think skinny jeans are immodest. You just have to have the right figure for them! The way to dress the skinny jeans is often with a tunic-length shirt, mini dress, or fluffy blouse. Plus many wear them with knee-high boots! Very covered.

I think a lot of people confuse certain style trends with skanky dressing. There are few actual STYLES, in my opinion, that are actually immodest. For example, you would not see a Hollywood starlet walking around with her underwear showing out of her jeans. (Usually.) If you look at the pages of In Style or whatever, stars are usually quite covered. But I will admit that cleavage can get too revealing in the mainstream.

so you agree that the skirt length at the first photo is immodest ?

What magazines are you looking at, because they’re not the same ones I see in the grocery checkout line. The skirts are too short, the blouses too tight and too low cut, some are see through, the jeans too tight and you probably don’t see stars with their underwear showing out of their jeans because THEY DON’T WEAR ANY.

Please don’t try to tell me Hollywood knows anything about dressing modesty. Just try telling your preteen daughter that what they wear is acceptable or try taking them shopping. Your opinion of the way Hollywood dresses will change in a heartbeat.

Sigh, I so wish this was true. I got to law school and there are girls who wear leggings (not even jeans) with short shirts., I mean really, leggings are slightly see through, skin tight and not modest at all, unless under a dress. (almost is bad is the girls with long shirts that don’t quite cover their butts with their leggings, even though they think the shirt is long enough). :dts:

Why would anyone think pants are immodest in the first place?
Hi Cathy. You look fine in pants as you have longish blouse over the top,but I have read some where that pants are not really modest, but long tops I think myself are ok over the top. I am sure even some of the visionary’s in Medjugorje wear pants and they suppose to see Our Lady, but I think in one of the messages once was said that the Lord was sad so to speak about dress, but I take this to mean the way out fashions some wear these days, short skirts, shorts etc.I myself wear pants, but long tops over, your right very comfortable. The Lord loves you,so do not worry.God bless Chrissy:)
