To the OP, I think your pants are very nice. They remind me of some styles I’ve seen in the muslim community I use to live near. Modest, but beautiful. I don’t wear pants a lot personally, but it’s just because I love skirts (I’ve always found them to be warmer in the winter, but that may be because I have some silk wrap skirts to wear underneath my cord or wool skirts, it definately makes a difference.
I also love wearing make-up, eye-make-up in particular. I like to make my eyes darker, and larger looking, I like the dramatic “flair” of eye liner. I don’t usually wear make-up on my face.
I don’t feel any sort of lack of confidence without make-up, though I remember having that feeling for a while when I was younger. I gave up make-up for Lent though, and that cured it
Sometimes we can get a little wrapped up in what is and isn’t modest, it ends up sounding so legalistic - I’m thinking of a man who told me my shirt was immodest because it was about four inches below my collar-bone, instead of two.
As I understand it, modesty is accomplished by sharing your beauty with the world, without “unveiling what should remain hidden”. The general outline of my figure, while attractive, is not immodest - I’m a woman, of course I have the outline of a woman; my exact measurements, however…shouldn’t be on display.
I’ve always disliked the “shapeless jumper” because it seems to indicate a desire to go beyond modesty and into a sense of shame about our bodies and their natural form. I’m sure there are pretty jumpers, I just don’t think I’ve seen any.
Blessed Lent,
Masha
