It’s your decision, man. If you’d be fine with your family being shocked by not only viewing your dead body but also being clothed in the shirt of a dunce, go for it.
If I had a family that cared about silly stuff like that, I would have much worse problems than clothing.

obperk - Interesting, but it depends on the area. Lots of guys at the church out here come in with khakis and flannel shirts during the winter
A manly looking flannel shirt and quality khakis is permissible attire.

North of the 40th parallel.

For many men, their best is a tuxedo (and for women, their best is often a full length gown)…both of which would look out of place at Mass, unless it was a Nuptial Mass later in the day or early evening.

My husband’s “very best” is a rather stunning set of academic robes and eight-sided (?) academic cap with lots of velvet.

It’s definitely his best–but it would be rather ostentatious (as well as impractical in terms of dry-cleaning costs) to wear it to Mass every Sunday.
🤣🤣 My husband and me started an experimental historical reconstruction group at university and have now a full medieval byzantine nobility class ornate at home. Emperor Justinian would have liked it, but it feels a bit…immodest 😃

When men dress like it’s the 1950s it’s just the epitome of “trying too hard.” You’re not an extra on the set of Mad Men, bro.

I dress like it is the 1930s so does that mean I have reached a level beyond “trying too hard” or just insane?

Also, based on the style of the 1950s, its the way how most men dress when they wear a suit UNLESS they wear a vest/waistcoat. Then that is when they start to reach 1930s fashion as the waistcoat/vest became rare in the 1940s due to WWII, which eventually became the norm in the late 40s and to the present day.

Nah, surprisingly comfortabel (not the jewelry and head coverings, but the clothing). The coat is warm and cozy 😉

No argument on the quality suit. But as far as fedoras go, gotta let ‘em go. They’ve gone from being dapper to being a sign that you probably own a ferret and play a lot of dungeons and dragons.

Fashion changes. Wearing a fedora now is about as out of place as a man in the 1950s wearing a cravat.

Just my two cents anyway

Often for the worse, cases in point being the tasteless stuff of the 60’s, 70’s and '80’s. I’m reminded of a David Bowie tune.

I see no reason to be a slave to the tasteless whims of fashion, especially when they would rid me of such an eminently practical accessory as my Fedora. I’ve got my eye on a real Montecristi Optimo Panama for summer.

Mean (and unfair to ferret owners), but very funny!

Ooh, my thread all over again. I think as long as you don’t take ab pictures and post them on snapchat like 50% of my friends, your doing great. Just don’t sag or go shirtless randomly.

No skinny jeans.

No crocs.

Wear formal clothing for serious occasions.

Don’t go in a t-shirt to mass.

Don’t ever wear a man bun.

Shower regularly.

Put on cologne.

Don’t wear a fedora, unless you’re in a blues band.

Dress to impress.

Stay clean.

Be well groomed.

Trim your beard nicely, if you have one.

When you go out, look good, smell good, feel good.

Don’t wear your heart on your sleeve. Act like a man.

Stay clean cut.

Look fresh.
Good fashion tips as well. It’s a shame you have to tell people not to wear crocs.

sports logos on clothing in mass?

i sometimes wear “notre dame” jerseys to mass (i went to school there)
