Has anyone heard if the rumor that Holy Resurrection Monastery is moving to Wisconsin? I haven’t been able to get in touch with Abbot Nicholas to confirm.

Does their website mention anything?
Haven’t seen anything on the web site yet, it was being discussed at DL yesterday and thought I’d see if anyone knew anything. I’ll keep trying to get in touch with Abbot Nicholas or 1 of the other monks.

As I recall the arrangement at Valyermo was only temporary, that they were welcomed as guests of the Benedictines for a few years.

The monks tell me there will be an announcement on the web site today or tomorrow.

Yes. I was told this recently by someone close to them. I have seen nothing on their website, nor on the monk’s Facebook pages.

What I recall is they sold their monastery to the Coptic monks and then the funding for the place they planned to move to in New Jersey suddenly fell through. That was when they were invited to Valyermo. I doubt they would be moving if it wasn’t a better location for their goals. I’m sure they will be posting about it and then we will know the story. 🙂

They are in my prayers. For a small group they are very precious to us! I’m selfishly sad they are leaving CA, but my chances of visiting Valyermo have been slim as they were slim when the monks were in Newberry Springs. One thing I know is they haven’t been allergic to travel so hopefully they will continue to pop up here and there in the greater Bay Area. 🙂

Since our cathedral is in Chicago and I usually have to be there a few times a year, moving to Wisconsin would make my visiting a certainty.

Hopefully I will visit before the move, the good Lord knows I’m in need of a blessing…or two

Well, it’s not a secret any longer 😊

It was you who told me! 😃
DId not! (did too! did not! did too! infinity! 😃 )

Anyway, yes, they have made it official today! We will miss them out here in So. Cal. but having visited them, both at their older monastery and their current digs at Valyermo, I think they’ll be a lot happier having their own “space” again. 👍

Glory to Jesus Christ!
Bless, Father.

Welcome to CAF!
Thanks for sharing all this. You continue in my unworthy prayers. And OLF SF continues to pray for you. (Thanks for sending Mayra our way!) It sounds like an excellent move for your community. You’ll get the real glory of 4 seasons there 🙂

St. Nazianz/St. Gregory Nazianzen, pray for us. 🙂

P.S.
We have already received several expressions of good will and welcome from local Catholics, including the local parish priest, and Bishop David Ricken of Green Bay, WI, within whose diocesan territory this property lies. Bishop Ricken recently met with Abbot Nicholas and expressed his keen interest in helping the community move to and get established in Green Bay Diocese. Bishop Ricken indicated that he is very interested in involving our monastery in the catechetical and adult formation programs of the diocese.
Right on! Another great Latin Shepherd in support of our Eastern Catholic Churches. 👍 (Prayers continue for the restoration of health for our Archbishop)

Fr. Maximos!!!

I don’t know if you remember me, but I used to work for Jack Figel. Come join our Jesus Prayer group here at CAF. We’d love to have your presence, words of wisdom, direction, etc. Perhaps you can be our spiritual patron. 😃

ICXC + NIKA,
Phillip

Now my big question…should the wife and I move to Wisconsin?

Now my big question…should the wife and I move to Wisconsin?
I admit that I’ve been thinking of this myself. 😛 If there is a job that I could work I’d be there in a heartbeat!

I’m not in Wisconsin, but I’m close enough. Methinks a road trip is a brewing! Now to just find some people who want to go to a monastery… 😃

So I get to California and the HRM pack up to leave. 😦 How disappointing. Well at least us Ukrainians have a monastery out here ;).
